Today Shawn asks, "My warm market is completely gone. How can I step out of my comfort zone and start meeting people to show my business to?" I can relate to that in a BIG way! I'd go to the mall (because you know, people are at the mall) and I'd walk around for 2 hours and achieve absolutely NOTHING! I was as bad as it gets contacting protests in the cold market. But in this episode of The Unemployed Millionaire Show I want to give you some helpful tips and strategies that work great. In fact, it's these tips and strategies that give me the certainty that you can drop my off in any city in the world my company does business in, take away all my contacts, all my money, and all of my resources and I can get it all back quickly JUST by using the knowledge of the tips and strategies that have are proven to work. Once you get over the fear you realize it's just a numbers game. There are leads EVERYWHERE. There's never a shortage of people who want financial freedom There's never a shortage of people who want to work from home. There's never a shortage of people who want to be able to raise their kids without having drop them off at daycare in the morning and rush in the door from their job at 7:30 or 8:00 PM to hopefully catch a quick bite to eat before bed time If I offered you a job for $250K a year, and all you had to do was get 10 phone numbers every day from people who are interested in another way to generate income for 5 days a week, could you do it? You can work any hours you want, all you have to do is get 10 numbers a day. Would you? Almost everyone would say yes to that. Because when you believe the money is there, it changes your mentality. And this is why leaders become leaders, they KNOW it's a numbers game and the money IS there! So how to you get rid of the awkwardness when you're just getting started? You JUST DO IT! The only way to get over a fear is to do that which you fear... So the first thing is, no matter how uncomfortable and weird it feels, you JUST do it (knowing you might suck a little at first because we ALL sucked a little at this at first) The second thing you need to do is, disassociate yourself from the results. The second you stop "needing" people to sign up, they start signing up. It's a weird phenomenon but ask any successful person in the world they'll all tell you the same thing. Neediness is a weird energy that not many people like to be around. Instead, you MUST learn to have fun, be happy, smile, find the humor in things, look for the good things in other people, etc. And here's my formula to making this work for you: Step 1: Give a sincere compliment (Make sure it's sincere and have fun) Step 2: Ask questions about them and what they do for a living in a natural way Step 3: Ask if they keep their income options open Step 4: Tell them you'll call them and have them give you their number so you can call them So Shawn, the biggest thing here is, you just have to start doing. Don't put ridiculous expectations on yourself. Leaders and rock stars in this industry don't fall off the truck at that level, they did EXACTLY what you're about to do to get there! Overcoming The "I don't have the money" Objection! Welcome back to part 3 of the closing series on how to overcome objections in network marketing! In the last video I laid out a proven framework for you to overcome objections and now we're going to dive into very common and specific objections. This is one we all hear everyday, "I don't have the money...". So you introduce someone to the business and they say, "You know, it's great but I don't have the money..." So we go back to the framework for overcoming objections in network marketing and it usually goes something like this: (I'm going to lay this out as a script to make it easier) You: "You know I totally hear where you're coming from but tell me this. Do you REALLY not have the money or is that just your polite way of telling me no?" Them: And in most cases, there going to say, "No, I just don't have the money" You: "Well, tell me this. Do you WANT to do this?" IMPORTANT: Then you just WAIT! Because if they really don't want to do it, you're job is to sort not sell and go find someone who DOES want to do it. What you're looking for at this point is for them to start selling you on them wanting to join the business. 1. If they don't want to do it, you're done here and it's time to thank them for taking a look and to move on. 2. If they start selling you on the idea that they want to do it, you proceed forward. Them: "Yes, I really do want to do it!" You: "Are you SURE? Do you REALLY want to do this and do you want to make it work for you?" You want to have them tell you a second time, "Yes! I really do" At this point yo've gotten them to convince you twice that they want to do it. Now you're job is to become a consultant. Help them find a way to get what they just told you they want. Here are some methods to use to help people get a clear perspective on their perceived limitations. What you have to understand is that most people just don't think with a "can do" attitude and it's become your job to help them develop that mindset moving forward. And when you focus on the fact that that attitude will not only get them what they want from the business but will greatly enhance their life, you're doing them a HUGE service and it's something you can be proud of. You're not selling them on the business, you're consulting them on their own hidden ability to create what they want out of life! So here are some methods I use to do this: You: "Who do you love most in your life?" Them: "Person X" (Let's call say it's their Mom) You: "Let's say your Mom get's thrown in jail today (obviously for a crime she didn't commit) and bail costs (whatever the cost of your opportunity is, let's say $500 dollars), what are you gonna do? Are gonna let your Mom stay in jail all night overnight with a bunch of other criminals or... are you gonna find a way to come up with the bail money?" Pause and WAIT for an answer. Almost every time they're going to say they are going to bail Mom out! You: "That's awesome! Well, here's my advice to you. You could obviously come up with the money because you could come up with it for your Mom so come up with the money, let's get you started here, let's get you earning some money and let's get you out of financial jail! Because that's really what you're in..." Pause and let that sink in for a minute. Another scenario I use after they decided they want to do the business is this. You: "Let me ask you this. If I could sell you a brand new $150K Ferrari for $500 dollars BUT you had to come up with the money in the next 24 hours, would yo buy the Ferrari?" Pause and wait for an answer. Them: "Of course I'd buy it!" You: (Consultant mode) "Obviously you CAN come up with the money so let's help you! What do we need to do to help you come up with the money in the next 24 hours? Because we want to get you into a situation where you become financially free and you can one day buy that Ferrari!" Always approach this with the mindset that you're helping people because you are! Helping them get over limiting beliefs, helping create opportunity. Helping them create a "can do success based attitude". And helping them take a step down a path that leads them to a life they always dream about but never take action to create! So always remember to use this framework with objections and ALWAYS remember these 2 things: 1. Your objective is to sort, not sell 2. Your goal is to progress to the point you become a consultant that has one purpose, to help them overcome and solve their problems/challenges (AFTER you sort). So in this episode I'm going to cover one the most common objections we hear in network marketing: "I want to think about it..." How do you handle the "I want to think about it" objection? The presentations over, you've showed them the business, and they want to think about it. What now? Go back to the framework: Question #1: You know what John, I totally here what you're saying. But is it really that you need to think about it or is that just your polite way of saying no? If they really don't want to do it, just shake their hand and thank them for taking a look at it. If they say something like, no I want to but I just really like to think about things or sleep on it before I make a decision... Question #2: Alright Jon, no problem, tell me this, do you really want to do this? (Have him convince you that he wants to do it) Question #3: Are you sure? Are you serious? Do you really want to do it? Because it really doesn't matter to me either way. Now, once you've got them selling you on why they want to do it, your only job is to be a consultant. To help them work through whatever it is that's holding them back from getting started. Question #4: So you know you want to do it but let me ask you this, do you want to make a little bit of money or A LOT of money? Of course they're going to say "A LOT OF MONEY!" Then you say, That's great, let me give you some coaching then. You can think about it and that's perfectly okay with me but here's a rule in our business: People do what you do. The speed of the group is determined by the speed of the leader. So if you saw this and you think about it for a day or two even though you KNOW you want to do it, guess what your group is more likely to do? They're going to think about it for a day or two. So here's what I'm going to invite you to do. If you REALLY DO want to do this and you see an opportunity here, go ahead and get started even though I know in your mind your thinking, "I'd like to think on it, I want to think on it, but I realize that people do what I do". And understand this, right now, you're creating a story. And you can use that story for the next 20 years in this business whenever you're showing the business to someone and they say "I've got to think about it" you can tell your story. See, this is nothing more than following the framework laid out here. Now you're helping him figure out how to get what's in his best interest not in your best interest. You're helping him get what he wants and that's what makes people attracted to you and that's what defines a true leader. And now your moving into the Feel, Felt, Found aspect of the framework. I know exactly how you feel. I've felt the same way. Here's what I found (tell them a story about a top leader in the company) Always use this basic framework on how to handle objections in network marketing. Don't over think it, it's really simple. Don't ever complicate it, it's really simple. Don't think you can't do this, it's really simple! If you just DO it, you'll see how amazingly well it works and always remember it's a sorting business versus a selling business! How To Become a Master at Recruiting and Closing in Network Marketing. I'm always pumped up after I do training's because I get to experience something that you can only experience at live events. The collective energy of a groups of like minded people all focused on creating success together! It's really awesome and I'm so grateful to call this my "job"! ;-) And the greatest thing about this is, this can be anyone's job if they believe that they can do it. If you really believed you could travel around the world, stay in luxury hotels, earn 6 or 7 figures a year (so you never think about the bill or expenses), and impact the lives of thousands of others would you? Of course you would! But if there's any lingering doubt at all, any chance that you think you can't, you won't! But when you truly believe, you can show others how to believe. And when you can do that, you become a master at recruiting and closing in network marketing. In order to become a master at recruiting and closing in network marketing, you have to fully "close yourself" first. In other words, until you remove all the doubt and fully believe that you can, will, and are live, create, and progress to that lifestyle you desire, you will never become a master at recruiting and closing in network marketing. The secret to doing this is so incredibly simple it's easy to miss. In order to become a master at recruiting and closing in network marketing you simply need to train your mind to look for every reason why you can become a master master at recruiting and closing in network marketing. You need to find every piece of evidence that supports that idea, every source of support that is available to you, and every element of your life that displays the truth that you can become a master of recruiting and closing in network marketing. Because... If you look for why you can you'll find it, if you look for why you can't you'll find that too. Success is no accident, and neither is failure! One of the most common questions I get asked is, “Matt, how do you recruit in a cold market?”. And it should be no surprise that trying to recruit in a cold market is one of the most common frustrations people have also. So I thought I’d record a quick tip on how I recruit in a cold market because it works. You’re going to be out and about living your life anyway so let’s say one day you run into a sharp prospect. Someone who just has that “thing” about them that you know they’ll do great in your business. And you want to recruit them. What do you do? How do you talk them? How do you recruit in a clod market without looking like a total psycho? LOL Well, the first step is you build rapport. You’ve got to wait until it becomes appropriate. Talk to them about them. Find some common ground. Find things about that person that you’re genuinely interested in. And once you’ve built some rapport, use this simple next step to effectively recruit in a cold market. Just say to them: “Are you married to your job or you open minded?” That’s it! What do you think most people say? They say they’re open minded. And when they do, you hand them you phone, tell them to put the number in, tell them you’re a recruiter for a large company and you can’t promise them anything but “you’d love to talk to them sometime”. That’s it. It works to recruit in a cold market. After that, it’s just a numbers game. Today's question comes from Marquel in Georgia: "For someone who is looking to make sure he is being productive and moving forward and building a big team and creating a 6, 7, or even 8 figure income in network marketing, what should their daily method of operation look like?" In other words, What should you do to get to a full time income in network marketing fast?"! And that's an awesome question so let me give you my method of operation for building a team that generates a full time income. Really, there are 2 things you should be spending your time on and 2 things only. The percentages will adjust as you grow your team but for any one looking to build their network marketing business to a full time income, here's how I do it and how I coach my team to do it. 70% of your time should be spent doing revenue generating activities - Inviting, Presenting, Following up 30% Of your time should be spent on training and promoting activities - Training new team members as you're getting people started and promoting events. This is what I personally did to get to a full time income in network marketing and what I coach my team to do and I've had over 200,000 people enroll in my team over the past 4 1/2 years. For the 70% your job is to do 3-5 presentations or exposures everyday (Not one presentation with 3-5 people, that only counts as one) What you should be laser focused on is the number 30. There's magic in the number 30. You should be focused on enrolling 30 people as fast as you can and doing it with people you have relationships with. Not a huge email blast where you promote the business to 100K people and 30 enroll because that doesn't create longevity and it's not duplicatable. Plus, if you're enrolling 1 person for every presentation, it's almost impossible to not find some aces who really take it and run with it and build the business fast and 30 can turn into thousands! Here is a new video I recorded on overcoming objections in network marketing. It TOTALLY disarms almost all objections in network marketing and is very powerful! And it's just 2 simple words (but the context you use them in holds all the power!) This series was so well received and powerful and helped so many people, I decided to add to it with updates as I learned new ways to overcome objections in network marketing. People will always find a way to not take action, even if they know they should. There’s a voice that tries to “keep you safe” in everyone's heads. The people who succeed in life are the people who learn to manage that voice. The people who live fulfilling lives are the people who learn to keep that voice in check. It never goes away but it can and does transform the more you train yourself on how to respond to that voice. The voice I’m talking about is fear! Fear of failure, fear of success, fear of change, fear of the unknown, etc… And it’s that voice of fear that causes almost all objections in network marketing! People don’t want to be afraid, they want to build and create amazing lives. And most of them are willing to work hard to do it. So you need to become a master at calming that voice, soothing the fear because that’s how you overcome almost all objections in network marketing and in life really. So here’s an another way to do that in addition to the series I recorded on overcoming objections in network marketing. You be brave for them. You be strong for them. You have enough courage to face their fears head on without having fear yourself! When they say, I can’t… or I don’t… You face it with them! And you do it by using two simple words: I can’t afford it… “Of course you can’t. Don’t you think that’s why you need to?” I don’t have time… “Of course you don’t. Don’t you think that’s why you need to”? You just sort of absorb that objection, don't push back on it, show them that you’re not afraid of it, display the qualities of a powerful and confident leader, and remind them that the objection itself is the main reason why they need to make a change in their life. You’ll not only be able to overcome objections in network marketing but you’ll also be giving them a gift far greater than anything money can buy. So this is one of the most critical and important aspect to creating success not only in network marketing but in life! And I get the question all the time. Literally every single day. So when Anton sent it in to [email protected], I thought this would be a great opportunity for me to share my top strategies on how to overcome objections in network marketing. I'm going to cover the most common and difficult objections we all experience and I want you to know that these strategies are skills and while you may not be masterful at them yet, they are something you learn through repetitive action! So I'm just going to lay out the rules for closing that have worked to overcome objection in network marketing for thousands of people including me! Rules To Overcome Objection in Network Marketing: 1. HAVE FUN! 2. NO emotional attachment to them joining 3. Convince yourself that you LOVE to close! 4. Show them how to feel (be the leader and role model) 5. Closing starts with the invite6. Assume they are gong to get started The 3 main questions people are thinking when they're looking at your network marketing opportunity are: 1. Does it work? 2. Can I do it? 3. Will you help me? Next is what do you actually say after the presentation is over. First, STOP TALKING, start closing! Do not over sell. This is the #1 way to force yourself into a situation that you MUST overcome objection because what you're doing it showing them that they have to be a sales person just like you're being at that time! And here's my #1 close: Get ready this is intense: I just go up to them, give em a high five and say, "You're in right?" And then it's simply about following up with the correct questions: • Are you ready to get started? • Do you have any questions? • Do you have any more questions or are you ready to get started? HINT: Use the work okay! "Let's get you started okay?" The #1 reason people don't join network marketing is they're not asked! Just ask. Ask early, ask often. Sort don't sell! That's the overview on how to overcome objection in network marketing and in the coming issues, I'm going to give you a framework to handle almost any objection, and they go through and answer each specific objection! I watched him closely and noticed when he spoke, people hung on every word he said. And I told him after one of his presentations that he was amazing and I hoped one day I would be as good as him. Then he asked me if I wanted to know why he was so good. I said yes of course. He told me it's because he knew how to be confident. Well my reaction was, "Of course you know how to be confident you're amazing!". And this was a defining moment in my life. He just laughed and said, "Dude! You don't get it. I'm this good because I know how to be confident! It's because I'm confident that I'm this good not the other way around...". So I went on a quest to learn how to be confident. And here are some tips on how to be confident. I spell a lot of these out in my book, The Unemployed Millionaire. When you walk into a room, have the mindset that you're going to fill it with positive energy and expand your posture. They are always going to say yes, they kind of have to! And then I just tell them, "If you can invite a friend for coffee, you can be successful with this. Because let me just explain to you how this business works. 95% of the people in the world do not like to sell! So the fact that you don't like to sell is actually going to set you up for success because the biggest mistake people make in our business is trying to sell it or trying to explain it themselves instead of letting a tool to the selling for them. So if you have the ability to invite someone for coffee, and I'm with you to a presentation all you have to be is an information tour guide!" So let's get you started OK? Again, it's as simple as following the framework laid out here. Always use this basic framework on how to handle objections in network marketing. Don't over think it, it's really simple. Don't ever complicate it, it's really simple. Don't think you can't do this, it's really simple! Network Marketing Training - Master the Invitation - Part 1 of 2 What is the #1 Skill in network marketing? I believe it's mastering the invitation. If you want to get really, really good and make a lot of money, you need to get good at mastering the invitation. There's an art and science to mastering the invitation and if you don't do it right, it can actually have a negative impact on your business. When you first get started in this industry it's like a training ground where you learn the science of mastering the invitation but you're also going to run into a few problems along the way with looking inauthentic and coming off as the "bait and switch" guy/girl. So why is mastering the invitation one of the (if not the) most important skill in network marketing? Simple. You don't have to be a great presenter, you don't have to be a great sales person, you don't have to be a wealth of knowledge about products or features and benefits, you don't have to be the best closer etc, because tools and leaders do that far more effective than most people can. But what tools don't do nearly as effectively as people can is get others in front of the tools! So here's one quick idea that I want to share with you that I believe can help you out a ton. This goes back to my friend Byron who referred to our company as an "idea". And remember thinking, "Why are you calling this an idea? It's not an idea it's a business." But the more I started using that, the more I started mastering the invitation. The reason is, people associate experiences or knowledge to everything they hear, see, smell, taste, or touch. So no matter what you say to someone, if it's something that can be translated into an association, they're going to prejudge and make assumptions based on previous experience and associations. But try to do that with an idea... You can't because an idea is just a bunch of possibility that is determined by how that idea is revealed. Don't tell them anything until you can show them everything. Using the word idea is one of the fastest ways to mastering the invitation! Go back to the framework! Question 1: You know what John, aside from the time, do you like the concept? Do you see an opportunity here? If they really don't want to do it, and they say "no" you want to let him go. Remember, sort versus sell. Option 1: Look, I don't need your time. You know 100 people I don't know. This is what I'm going to do.... I'm going to win you over with paychecks. Here's how it works. All I need yo to do is set up an introduction. Introduce the people that you know to me. Put me in touch with your sharpest most ambitious people and I just need you to help set up the appointment. I'll go and present on your behalf, I'll close them on your behalf. I'll get them signed up and I'll train them on your behalf and you'll start getting checks for literally not doing anything! And I'll tell you what's going to happen, once you see some income start rolling in you're going to figure out a way to put a couple extra hours in a week to build yourself some financial freedom. So let's get you started OK? Option 2: Feel, Felt, Found! Always go back to the framework. I know exactly how you feel, when I got started I felt the exact same way. I thought it was going to take a ton of time to be successful but honestly what I found is, if you just put a few extra hours in a week like I did, you can be successful at this. And everyone can carve out a few hours a week to help create their financial freedom. So it's not going to take a big time commitment it's just a few hours a week. Can you put in, say 3 to 4 hours a week? Is that something you'd feel comfortable with? Option 3: When they say they don't have the time you ask them, "How does that feel?" and you just let them answer. What you'll find is people like to say YES far more than they like to say NO... Again, it's as simple as following the framework laid out here. Always use this basic framework on how to handle objections in network marketing. Don't over think it, it's really simple. Don't ever complicate it, it's really simple. Don't think you can't do this, it's really simple! If you just DO it, you'll see how amazingly well it works and always remember it's a sorting business versus a selling business! How To Present Your Network Marketing Business To Win!

In this episode of Ask Me Anything T.V, Brian Mercedes asks: "What's your favorite way to present your business?" That's a great question, thanks Brian! I'll start by giving you my favorite way to present my network marketing business! If I'm presenting my business to a group I usually go to a full power point presentation. I like to make sure it's very detailed, I want to be able to interact with the audience, tell some jokes, and engage with the people that are there. Now if I'm meeting one on one or have just a handful of people like an in home presentation or something like that, I prefer and recommend the video for the best way to present your network marketing business. And the reason I prefer the video is just for the duplication factor. Because the #1 thing that people are thinking when they look at your network marketing business is, "Can I do it and be successful?" You could have the best product in the world, the best compensation plan in the world, the best EVERYTHING in the world but none of that really matters if they don't believe they can actually do it and be successful promoting your business themselves. That is the #1 question people have anytime you present your network marketing business no matter you you present it and that's why I personally like showing the video. So here's what I call the 3-Step Close. What the 3-Step Close is designed to do is answer in their mind that #1 question of "Can I do this and be successful" every time you present your network marketing company to anyone. If they REALLY believe that they can make a lot of money or be successful through following your system, they will actually join. Before I show them the video I say, "John, I want you to pay attention to how little I have to do to explain this to you..." Then I over exaggerate the effort it takes to push play! Step 1: I'm going to say, "Awesome right? What did you like best?". This solicits a response I want because he's gong to answer with something and I'm going to say, "I know! Me too! I couldn't agree more..." Step 2: I'm going to say, "Know I do have to ask you a question to see if you qualify to be successful with this..." He's expecting me to sell him, this gets his attention and qualifies him. Then I'll say drop the qualifying bomb on him, "Do you think you have the ability to push play like I did?" What's he gong to say every time? YES! Of course! Step 3: Then I say, "Congratulations! You qualify, welcome to the team!" and put your hand out for a handshake! Then I say, "Let's go ahead and get you plugged in and I'll show you how to make your money back in the next few days! Sound cool?" That's the 3 step close and the the most effective way to present your network marketing business! Most people will say "The Fear of Public Speaking" but in reality, it's the fear of rejection. Today's question directly ties to that fear. It's from Elena in Greece. Elena asks: "I'm new to network marketing and my first 2 prospects fully shot me down I was so let down and now, I'm having a hard time showing my business to anyone else out of fear. How do I deal with fear of rejection?" I've got a lot of personal experience with rejection and it took me a long time, listening and applying what my mentors taught me, to find a way to get past that massive fear of rejection that is so prevalent in the network marketing industry. If you come with the overall philosophy or mindset that you absolutely must get this certain prospect enrolled, it breeds fear. And people can smell that fear of rejections because your so attached to the outcome. In fact, it's that attachment that creates a breeding ground for fear rejection. What you have to understand in network marketing is, it's not your job to enroll someone. It's to expose people to see it and understand it and that's it! They are going to make the decision to join or not and if you've provided on opportunity for them to see and understand it, you've done your job. All good network marketing companies have tools that do the selling part for you, your job is to simple show people those tools. Disassociate yourself from the outcome, use the tools your company provides you, practice how you set up your network marketing opportunity, and focus your energy on getting those tools in front of people realizing that they are going to make the decision and either way, it doesn't matter because it's a number game. How To Motivate Your Team In Network Marketing

In this edition of Ask Me Anything TV Jean in Illinois asks: "I've been in network marketing for about a year. I have a team of about 30 people I've been stuck at for 6 months. How to I motivate them to take action?" That's a great question and one a lot of people ask. The first thing to ALWAYS understand is, the speed of the group is determined by the speed of the leader. You've probably heard that before and nothing could be further from the truth and not just in network marketing, but in all business and in life! If you want your team to produce, YOU have to go out and produce yourself. Think about if you were looking for leadership. Would you be attracted to someone who produced personal results or someone who just talked a big game? Would you be more inclined to produce if your sponsor was personally enrolling new team members every month or just expected their down-line to do it? It's all centered around belief and the old saying, "Seeing is believing" is very true in this instance with a twist. In this case it's about seeing action instead of talking about action! The next thing to ALWAYS remember is, group momentum always comes after personal momentum. Success in network marketing requires action, and action requires belief. And the best way to motivate or to get anyone to find the belief that they can do it is to show them by doing it yourself. Your team will look at you as their leader and their belief in themselves and their ability to produce revolves around your action and results. If your team sees you enrolling 10 people in 2 months, they will say, "If Jean can do 10, I can surely do 5". What you want to avoid is trying to turn people into something they're not. There are 2 types of people in network marketing, chickens and eagles. The chickens are going to show up pluck around but never really do much except take up space and leave a nice mess of droppings! Then you have the eagles. The eagles have all the same challenges as everyone else. They don't like their jobs, they don't have enough money to make ends meet, etc... The difference between the chickens and the eagles is, the eagles will actually go do something about it. Now, people you might think are chickens can sometimes be eagles in training. You can spot them by their actions. Do they go to the events? Do they follow direction and take action? Do they complain all the time? Do they play victim and the "blame game"? And most importantly, do they SHOW UP and try? What you want to do to motivate your team into taking action is sort through the chickens and find the eagles! Because no matter how hard you try to make a chicken fly, you'll never succeed and in fact, you can use up all your time, energy and resources to the point of burn out if you do and end up covered in chicken shit! But eagles are BORN TO SOAR! They just need a little guidance and direction to show them how to soar. So Jean, here's my best advice to you. Become the eagle yourself and go out and enroll 10 people in a short period of time! Because there is no problem in network marketing that can't be solved by enrolling 10 people! The 8 Step Approach to Going Deep Into Your Warm Market (without it being weird)

Today we have a question from Michelle: "Hi Matt! How can I approach people in my warm market who I haven't been in contact with for a long time without it being weird or seeming like I'm just being friendly with them again just so I can sell them something after a few conversations?" That's a great question that I'm sure will open up a ton of doors for a lot of people. Here's how I handle it. It's one of my pet peeves, when someone calls me and says, "Hey Matt! I was just calling to catch up." And we catch up for a few minutes and then all of the sudden they want to pitch me their business or they want to talk about something else when in the beginning they said they just wanted to catch up. So my advice here when contacting deep into your warm market is just be authentic! If you're intention is not to call them and rebuild a relationship, don't call them and tell them you just want to catch up with them. Some trainers say to warm them up for a few weeks and then show them the business. My opinion is that's coming from a place of being inauthentic. You don't really care about renewing the relationship and all that, you just want to get them in your business. So just be honest, be upfront, and realize you've got absolutely nothing to lose and everything in the world to gain. In fact, based on my experience, there are people in your warm market that you haven't talked to in years that are going to join your opportunity. Never be inauthentic, always be authentic and open. Here is the process: The 8 Step Approach to Going Deep Into Your Warm Market 1. Give them a sincere and authentic compliment 2. Go right into it and say something like this is a total crazy shot in the dark but... 3. Just started a new business 4. Company is growing like crazy 5. We can't bring people on fast enough 6. And was just calling you because X (insert another sincere compliment) to see if you're open minded to take a look at our business model 7. Set up a meeting for coffee or something else where you can meet in person 8. If they're not in your area, use the tools your company provides to present your business So Michelle, thanks for the question. Overcoming The Objection/Question in Network Marketing "Is this a pyramid scheme?"

How many times have you been asked if your business is pyramid scheme? I know I've been asked at least once or twice in my years of doing this if what I'm talking about is a pyramid scheme or sometimes they even call it a pyramid scam. So a lot of times people will ask if it's a pyramid scheme and be pretty negative about. But you have to understand that the reason so many people call it a pyramid scheme is because they associate network marketing with a pyramid scheme. And no matter how it comes out, the first thing I want to tell you is DON'T be overly defensive about it! A lot of trainers are going to tell you to say something I strongly advise against when prospects ask "Is it a pyramid scheme thing?" or "This looks like one of those pyramid scheme deals...". A lot of trainers tell you say: Your JOB'S A PYRAMID SCHEME! There's CEO, then VP's, then mangers, then the employees! And you're at the bottom and you're never going to make it to the top of that pyramid scheme! Listen, that doesn't work... Let's just be real here. If you get confrontational with someone, that's just going to turn them away so just be cool. And always remember that the number one rule to ALL of this is to have fun with the process.Have fun, keep it light, smile a lot, and control the conversation. Next, you should always take the perspective that most people really don't even know what a real pyramid scheme is and a lot of times when people ask if it's a pyramid scheme thing, that's their way of asking if it's network marketing. It's NOT something negative. So if someone asks me if it's a "pyramid scheme or pyramid scam" and I don't sense any hostility or negativity, I'm just going to say, "Well what do you mean by that?". And then just pause and let them answer. Because most of the time, they really don't know what they mean by that. They've just heard pyramid scheme in the past and they think maybe that's what this is and they just honestly don't know. Then if they answer with a response that describes network marketing, don't get negative or defensive, just say, Yeah! Exactly!" with confidence and enthusiasm and give them some example of famous and popular network marketing companies. like Mary Kay cosmetics. And then say, "Well, we're kind of like Mary Kay but for X" (with X being whatever your company does). Don't be confrontational because they're not being negative. Pyramid scheme is just their word for network marketing. But if they are being a little negative I always respond the same way. I just say, "Seriously? Of course not!" and just move on and continue with the process. Because it's not a pyramid scheme. True pyramid scheme models are illegal and you're not doing anything illegal in anyway. Always make sure when someone asks you if it's a pyramid scheme or pyramid scam that you don't make it a bigger issue than it really is. Another one that's kind of funny that I got from my best buddy Jonny Wimbrey is when someone asks you, "Are you doing a pyramid scheme?" you ask them, "Are you a bank robber?". And when they look at you crazy just say, "Well you asked me if I'm doing something illegal so I'm asking you if you're doing something illegal!" LOL So if they aren't quite understanding what it is, I always go back to the Mary Kay example and ask if they are familiar with them and remind them they do over $3 Billion a year in revenue. Then I just say: "We're kind of like the Mary Kay of "X" and you're business savvy enough to realize that network marketing is a very solid stable business model right? You know Warren Buffet owns multiple network marketing companies, Robert Kyosaki writes books on network marketing, Donal Trump is a spokesman for a network marketing company so surely your business savvy enough to realize it's a very solid and stable business model right?" If they don't agree and say "right", you may want to disqualify them, They are the wrong person. I never meet any really skeptical rich people. Most people who are skeptical and negative are usually broke! At least that's what I see... Stick it out! Entering the holiday season I always reflect on what I’m thankful for. And this year one of the things that stuck out that I’m thankful for is the simple fact that I stuck it out! That I didn’t give up or quit on my dreams. And I had a young guy approach me an event I did in Vegas and he told me he watched my videos and he thanked me for them. He told me he was so ready to quit but he watched my videos and they helped keep him in the game. I look at someone like Alex. A young guy, struggling a bit in network marketing. And it kind of reminds me of myself my first several years in network marketing. And I just want to tell you, I struggled for a very long time. It took me a very long time to get the skill set and develop my people skills. But re-read that last sentence. It’s something that is developed through dedication, effort, and work. And that means that ANYONE can have the same things IF they just don’t quit! All you have to do to make it in network marketing is do not quit! It gets hard… do not quit! You get frustrated… do not quit! You want to quit… DO NOT QUIT! I went through what seemed like endless amounts of frustration and struggle and the most important thing I had to do was tell myself do not quit! So my message to you is this. Just don’t quit! Keep no going. Even when it looks like nothing is ever going to work for you, DO NOT QUIT! I promise you, it’s worth it. How To Attract Leaders... At a recent training I did someone asked me, "What's the number one thing you wish you would've done sooner?" If there is one thing I wish I would've done sooner it's this. I wish I would have stepped up and become a leader. Not just any leader but a leader that knows how to attract leaders. Do you want to know how to become the leader that knows how to attract leaders? First off, you have to know that true leadership is not something can be or ever is granted to you. Know one is every going to knight you a leader. There is no test that you can pass to tell the world you're qualified to be leader. Leadership is a perception thing. It's something you step and it's not really something you are, it's more like something that you become. And here's what I mean by that. Most people have it backwards and say they'd be a leader who knows how to attack other leaders if... They were making more moneyHad more confidenceHad more successHad more X... They think that becoming a leader, and then a leader who knows how to attract leaders, only happens after you create the results but in reality, until you become that leader who knows how to attract leaders you'll never get the results you want. You have to step into that role and become a leader by declaring yourself a leader, and following it up with congruent action. If I could do one thing sooner in my life and career, I would have stepped up and become a leader that knows how to attract leaders. And here's how... (It's so simple!) You just let them know that you can and will and are going to lead them! You say you commit, I'll commit. You'll give up on you before I give up on you! It's not me saying I'm a leader, it's me SHOWING that I'm a leader and that's how you become a leader who masterfully knows how to attract leaders because you become attractive to them... The 2 Step Close (It's not a fun country dance, it's BETTER!) This is the super easy but mega effective 2 Step Network Marketing close I use. So as soon as your presentation is over, you're going to say something like this: "Pretty awesome wasn't it? What did you like best?" And that's going to pull out what they liked best about the opportunity. And sometimes I might say, "What excited you the most about what we're doing?" And of course you want to wait and let them respond. And once they respond and tell me what they like I'm just going to say this: "Well, sounds like you're ready to get started" and then pause... Now what's happening here is your sort of creating positive momentum and guiding that momentum to create a results that is a win/win situations. You're riding on a wave of positive energy that is directed forward towards progression. Now the big mistake people make after they say "Sounds like you're ready to get started" is, if there is any silence at all, the silence make them uncomfortable and they want to keep selling and give them more reasons to buy. I'll cover why that is the worst thing you can do in another video but for now, I just wanted to get the 2 Step Close out for you! So a quick recap of the 2 Step Close in network marketing: Step 1 - After the presentation you say: "Pretty awesome isn't it? What did you like best?" Step 2 - After they answer you say, "Great! This may not be your favorite show but it’s something our industry needs and all network marketers need to hear. It’s about lies that are being told in our profession that I think we as leaders tend to just kind of let slide. Now, a lot of network marketers are saying these things and they may not even be aware that what they are saying is a lie. And I love our industry. I think the network marketing industry is the greatest industry in the world because it gives ordinary people a real shot at extraordinary success. So I really want to protect it for myself and all network marketers because a big reason why a lot of people don’t want to join our industry and miss out on the tremendous benefits of it is because of falsehoods. And this has been going on for a long, LONG time. This particular lie was being told 20 years ago and I thought it was true. It’s a quote from Donald Trump or Bill Gates that says: “If I lost my entire fortune and had to do it all over again, I’d do it through network marketing”. Here’s another one: “Network marketing creates more millionaires than any other profession in the world” These inflated claims and lies are just not true. It just sounded so good, people started saying it. But it’s not true. What is true for network marketers is this: It’s the only industry where anyone with average intelligence, average ability, and average skill has a real shot of becoming a millionaire with hard work. Network marketing has created many, many, people who have achieved real financial freedom. Network marketing has crated many, many, millionaires. Network marketing is one of the most supportive industries I’ve ever seen personally. And just from these few truths I want you to understand this. “Our Truth Is Good Enough” There is no need to perpetuate lies to try to make network marketing more awesome. It’s already beyond awesome enough as it is just with the truth. So be a leader, help clean up, preserve, and protect our industry so more people can be fortunate enough to be a part of it. It’s a message and a topic that a lot of network marketers need to hear. Your beliefs are created by your programming. Your programming is created through repetition of what you say to yourself over and over again. So whatever you’ve been talking yourself is what your beliefs are. If it’s anything other than you LOVE the closing process, it’s time to reprogram your mind. Just do what I did and keep telling yourself over and over and over again that you LOVE the closing process. That you CAN’T WAIT to close! It may seem simple because it is. And one of the the most effective ways to master success or anything in life really is through repetition. So I'm going to keep drilling this into you over and over again throughout this closing series on how to overcome objections in network marketing so you can not only learn but MASTER this framework. And today's episode is no different, we ALWAYS go back to the framework on how to overcome objections in network marketing. Always, always, always! In any situation where you're promoting your business or opportunity to anyone, remember to use this framework with objections and, again, ALWAYS remember these 2 things: 1. Your objective is to sort, not sell 2. Your goal is to progress to the point you become a consultant that has one purpose, to help them overcome and solve their problems/challenges (AFTER you sort). So in this episode I'm going to cover one the most difficult objections we hear in network marketing: "I want to talk to my spouse or significant other about it..." This can be a little tricky and I struggled with it for years. On one hand, you have to be assertive but at the same time, you always want to be respectful. So how do you handle the "I want to talk to my spouse or significant other about it" objection? Go back to the framework! There are 2 ways that this works. Because if you go home and you try to explain to your significant other they are NOT going to be excited. They didn't see it the way you saw it. Even if you have the best memory in the world, you're only going to be explain about 10%-20% of what you saw tonight. And so the way for them to get excited about it is for them to see it the way you saw it! So here's the way it works if you really want to do this: 1. You and I, RIGHT NOW, we go see him/her and let me explain this to him/her. Let me walk through the process with him/her so he/she gets an excitement that you have right now. 2. Go ahead and fill out the paperwork/application. I'm going to hold onto it and when you go home I want you to have him/her watch this video. (NOTE: It's VERY important to use the tools your company has of this purpose. You're doing 2 things here. First, you're using a proven and effective method. Second, you're training them and showing them that they do not need to be a sales person and they simply need to use the exact same tools) But when you sit down with him/her let them know that this is something that you've already joined and you show it to him/her. What happens is it shows a level of commitment and they will end up having more belief about what you're doing. Now, if he/she sees the video and it blows up and it's going to ruin you're marriage, you call me! I'm not going to put in your application until you tell me it's okay. If you call and tell me to rip it up, I shred it and we part as friends. And THAT'S the way you make it work IF you really want to do this, okay? Which option would you prefer? Then you just let him/her make the decision. Again, this is nothing more than following the framework laid out here. Always use this basic framework on how to handle objections in network marketing. Don't over think it, it's really simple. Don't ever complicate it, it's really simple. Don't think you can't do this, it's really simple! If you just DO it, you'll see how amazingly well it works and always remember it's a sorting business versus a selling business! A lot of network marketing companies, in fact EVERY network marketing company with any kind of weight or leadership have systems on doing this. You show somebody the presentation, what ever that is, and then you put them on the phone with your upline leadership to help answer their question and close them into the business. And this may be a bit of a controversial thing to say in network marketing but don't feel like you have to do a 3-way call every time. I know most leadership teams in network marketing say to always do a 3-way call but, it's better answer the questions yourself if you can than use the "no one was available" excuse to not do a 3-way call. What you always have to remember is network marketing is a sorting business not a selling business so just go through the numbers and you'll always end up where you want to be. What you do not want to do is ever use the 3-way call as a crutch. If you're always using it as a crutch your less likely to show the amount of people you need to show to have success in network marketing and you're definitely not walking the walk of leadership! Sometimes people run into the challenge where they are not able to get their prospect on the phone with someone else. And in network marketing that is nothing more than a lack of confidence to portray powerful leadership. So the more confidence you develop and the more you control the flow of the conversation the easier it's going to be for you. Always be in control, be confident in the process, and display leadership and it should just flow naturally. Make it natural, be condiment, use your leadership, edify your leadership, build credibility, and display leadership yourself. By controlling the tempo and flow of the conversation and 3-way calls will never be awkward and will always be effective. And once you turn them over to your 3rd party, zip it and let them be the expert. It's really that simple! Most of the people I present my opportunity to say no for one reason. They say to me they like the opportunity and it looks great but they have no money to join.I have a question and this is really a problem to me. How do you respond in a situation like that? I will be very grateful if you can help me solve this problem..." Basically it's the Overcoming The Money Objection Part 2! Here are some methods to use to help people get a clear perspective on their perceived limitations. What you have to understand is that most people just don't think with a "can do" attitude and it's become your job to help them develop that mindset moving forward. And when you focus on the fact that that attitude will not only get them what they want from the business but will greatly enhance their life, you're doing them a HUGE service and it's something you can be proud of. You're not selling them on the business, you're consulting them on their own hidden ability to create what they want out of life! You: "Let me ask you this. If I could sell you a brand new $150K Ferrari for $500 dollars BUT you had to come up with the money in the next 24 hours, would yo buy the Ferrari?" Pause and wait for an answer. Them: "Of course I'd buy it!" You: (Consultant mode) "Obviously you CAN come up with the money so let's help you! What do we need to do to help you come up with the money in the next 24 hours? Because we want to get you into a situation where you become financially free and you can one day buy that Ferrari!" Another option is to go into coaching mode and just coach them. For example you'd say something like this: "Is where you are financially right now is based on the decisions or lack of decisions that you made 2-3 years ago and where you are financially 2-3 years from now is based on the decisions or lack of decisions you make today. So my advice to you is to make a decision to come up with the money in the next 24 hours so 2-3 years from now you you're still not in the same situation of not having the money to get started. Does that sound fair?"". People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. Always approach this with the mindset that you're helping people because you are! Helping them get over limiting beliefs, helping create opportunity. Helping them create a "can do success based attitude". And helping them take a step down a path that leads them to a life they always dream about but never take action to create! The bigger problem is this. If you're getting that a lot, you're presenting to the wrong people. You need to recruit up! None of the top leaders in my company had an objection. They saw it, liked it, and got started right away. And finally if someone can't come up with a couple hundred dollars, I just get real with them and give them an opportunity to get real with their situation and ask them: "How does that make you feel?" Then I tell them, "This is my advice to you. Why don't you come up with the money and you team up with me and I'll get you in a situation where you never have to worry about $500 dollars ever again in your life! Sound good?"
