Ortho & LiDAR Accuracy Webinar with Mike Tully & Charles O'Hara

01:13:46
Aerial Services and Spatial Information Solutions (makers of Accuracy Analyst and Topo Analyst) discuss "Ortho & LiDAR Accuracy." One of the major problems of using Ortho & LiDAR data today is the abundant availability of inexpensive data and information at multiple scales, resolutions, and time periods. Sources of errors tend to accumulate in these datasets. In order to increase accuracy of the final deliverable, it is imperative to know the source and amount of error associated with the final outcomes. This session describes sources and causes of error when using multi-scale geospatial data and how to handle them professionally. It will also introduces methods used to reduce error and understand the relationship between scale and error. Presented by Mike Tully (President & CEO, Aerial Services) and Charles O'Hara (President & CEO, Spatial Information Solutions) Hosted by Joshua McNary, Marketing Manager @ Aerial Services, Inc. Mapping with Thermal Imaging with Aaron Schepers -- May 29, 2013

01:06:03
The Summer 2013 Aerial Services Webinar series began in late May with Aerial Services hosting a partner, Cornerstone Mapping's Aaron Schepers, speaking on Thermal technologies. Converging airborne technologies has enabled the combination of thermal imaging with mapping cameras. Traditional color and CIR (Color Infrared) imagery facilitates thermal image interpretation while the thermal imagery identifies heat signatures that are otherwise invisible. As a result, thermal remote sensing is becoming a practical solution for mapping applications. Incorporating thermal imagery with geospatial data opens new opportunities. This session will cover various aspects of airborne thermal imaging and its practical applications. Presented by Aaron Schepers (President, Cornerstone Mapping). UAV & Geospatial Webinar with Mike Tully -- August 22, 2012

58:53
The final 2012 summer webinar, held in August, was an overview the upcoming use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) in geospatial applications. "UAV & Geospatial" informs the attendee as to the past, present, and future usage of UAV technology to acquire, map, and analyze geodata. Current FAA regulations limit the use of UAV for commercial activity, but this will be changing as the government slowly integrates these new types of aircraft into American airspace. As this happens, professionals and novices will increasingly use UAVs to acquire more regular geodata with varying degrees of quality. Get prepared for this new class of data by staying up on the trends and technologies via this informative session. Presented by Mike Tully (President & CEO, Aerial Services). Geographic information systems (GIS) are great for capturing, storing, analyzing, and managing data and associated attributes of spatially referenced points on earth. In the strictest sense, GIS displays only geographical information. But have you ever considered other information being included? How about documents and assets -- they have locations on earth. We can understand a wealth of information by adding spatial components.

Privacy Issues Raise Concerns for Remote Sensing with Kevin Pomfret & Mike Tully -- March 19, 2014

51:34
As unmanned aerial systems (UAS) become more prevalent in the skies, the United States is engaged in spirited conversations about their impact on the constitutional guarantees of privacy and free speech. Without an understanding of privacy, the voice of the geospatial community is likely to be overlooked or dismissed. Without an input into such an important debate, there is a substantial risk the geospatial community will wake up one day and find they can't do the things they want to do. Worse yet, it may find it is no longer able to do what they currently can do with manned aircraft. Join us to learn more regarding the factions, issues, and misunderstandings currently in play for remote sensing as we enter a new era of automated data acquisition. "Working Together to Save Lives: Emergency Responders & GIS" with Jason Dolf -- February 5, 2014

17:13
Aerial Services' Winter Webinar Series kicked-off discussing "Working Together to Save Lives: Emergency Responders & GIS". One of the most critical assets an emergency responder can have during an emergency are maps. Reponders (professionals and volunteers) often come to assist and are not familiar with the area. They need maps to orient to the current area and be more effective with the task at hand. The key to getting the information into the right hands at the right time is having a working relationship between emergency responders and mappers. Learn more about how mapping is used and can be implemented to serve those in our communities during an emergency. Presented by Jason Dolf (Flight Operations Coordinator, Aerial Services, Inc.)
