ma vie en école d'art | Sad girl Vibes

02:27

What Students in PARIS are ACTUALLY wearing | ART SCHOOL

10:35
Hi! Today I’m taking you inside my French Art school to show you what students in Paris are actually wearing! Inspired by the series by Lexie Lombard, “What highschoolers are actually wearing”, filmed in LA and other cities around the USA, I decided to reincarnate the theme in Europe by showcasing the French/Parisian aesthetic. Personally, I think that the “French girl style” has been stereotyped as very minimal (thanks to French new wave cinema)—so I decided to use my unique situation as an American student in Paris to show you how Parisians really dress! My own fashion is thought of as quite “extra” in France (lots of color and 80s/90s patterns clothes hauls), and I used to think Parisians dressed chic, for sure, but with out much eccentricity…but that is until I went to art school ;) For non French people, the French can be a bit mysterious—especially in a school setting so I decided to not just film the student’s OOTDs or looks, but also interview them. The interviews are in French with English subtitles (and took me so long to do—wow) but it was worth the trouble because this way you can follow along! What you will find is a diverse group of young internationals and a very interesting lookbook—from “norm core” to Art hoe Aesthetic to French guys in thrift store dresses. Althought there are some wild cards, it’s true that there are still quite a few minimalists and simple androgyne style. It was very interesting to me to see that most students got their clothes from thrift shops (or Friperies as they call them) like Emmaus or Guerrisol (sort of like Goodwill) or fast fashion stores like Zara or H & M. . It’s also really enlightening to learn each individuals relationship to fashion and the effects of their environment on their personal identity. Here are the questions I asked: Who are you? Where do you go shopping in Paris? Where are your clothes from? Do you think it’s hard to dress like what you want in France with out getting judged? I really liked doing these interviews and will continue to interview French people around Paris and explore the place that clothing and style through personal expression has in my life. FRENCH SLANG YOU NEED TO KNOW | How to use French slang

11:20
Hello future bilingual babes of the internets! So many of you have written me on Insta asking about my French language journey and if I would drop a French language/French slang video. So today I'm giving you a little French lesson on how to use French slang words, "cool" French phrases and expressions in actual conversation like a native French person would!! There are tons more but this is the list of the ultimate French slang you need to know! I put the subtitles in French and in English so you can copy the phrases directly and reuse them in your own French conversations. I also aimed to use real life example and just tried to have fun with this :) To be honest, most of this vocabulary and learning to sound French comes from living in Paris for the last four years and putting myself out there in language exchanges, so don't be afraid to just go for it if you really want to achieve French fluency. I'm also going to be talking to y'all about the special French slang called "verlan" which is really fun to use but challenging! I am obviously American so I still make mistakes, but I learned how to speak colloquial French and sound French by speaking it everyday (I speak French at home, at school and on the street) I am completely self taught in French (see my video on how I learned French) and never took any formal classes at a language school (I would consider myself bilingual C1, C2 level for the DELF/TCF test) so my speaking is about 150 times better than my writing, so if I made any mistakes be nice :) Here is a list of some of the phrases and words I used in the video: "grave", "kiffe", "wesh", "meuf", "j'ai le flemme", "je suis rincé", il m'a carotté", "je suis vénère", "chelou", "oim", "bof" and here are some links of more French slang (argot): I hope you enjoyed and don't forget to like and subscribe! bisous Instagram: @_purple_palace blog: www.witchyparis.com 1.)https://www.fluentin3months.com/french-slang/ 2.)https://www.thelocal.fr/20160712/verlan-frances-backwards-language-you-need-to-learn

4 Days of Summer (French/English) Paris Vlog #7

08:03
Summer in Paris Strawberries, tenderness the feeling that “real life” isn’t happening somewhere else.... Hi my lovely friends! It's been a hot minute since summer started, and although I've been filming quite a bit, I've also been working in the art studio and on a film, and thus am just getting around to sharing this first vlog of the summer! It really does feel like the days melt in to one another (in a beautiful, bizarre, sad way) and soon it will be back to school again ...I wanted to share some moments and thoughts with you (in French and English, as that is how my brain makes sense of the world these days). My hope is maybe you can relate to the highs and lows, and even the inconsistencies of it all like the excitement of a big event like the World Cup next to the banality of an orange drink fizzling in my kitchen. It's funny how these things, though seemingly unrelated, can make some strange sense in the jumbled melted memory of a summer haze... I am really excited about the future of this channel, about my new art studio vlogs coming up (yay!), sharing my creative process, French/English language videos and starting some new interviewing series with people around Paris. In the mean time, I hope you enjoy this chill little look of 4 days of my life as an American expat in Paris, France where I take you to a little film festival, picnic with my friends in a garden, celebrate le coupe du monde (we won!) and go on lazy dates with my love. As always thanks for following my journey, and letting me be a part of yours. Your support means the world to me, so please don't hesitate to subscribe, connect on Insta, or on my blog! instagram: @_purple_palace blog: www.witchyparis.com Have a video request? let me know in the comments! How Parisians ACTUALLY dress | Paris Street Style 2018

10:08
Hello babes of the internets! Ever since my first video on “What students in Paris are actually wearing” I’ve gotten so many requests to do more style and fashion videos, thrift hauls, etc! My personal thrifted lookbooks/ootds are coming (so stoked to share them with you!), but today I’m taking it to the streets of Paris to do my first every French Street Style video! SO I’m interviewing absolute strangers (in French and English of course ;) with varying aesthetics, from poppin’ 80s grunge bombers to chic 90s scrunchies to some H&m and Zara. The only rule? Specific choices were made when they picked out their clothes, outfits are stand out and above all inspiring! As y’all know we love a thrifted artsy look at the Purple Palace and not surprisingly most of these fits were vintage and original. I’ve spoken about how France has a reputation for a certain minimalist Parisian French girl style, but I wanted to prove that the French do dress eclectically and with color! I also wanted to say that I didn’t aim to film exclusively young people—my goal was ages ranging from teens to sassy grandmas, but tbh a lot of people turned down being filmed. I’m most excited about this little series (this is just the summer style ;) because I get to hear people talk about their self expression and where they choose to do their shopping in Paris. It’s also context in which I can go up to interesting looking people I wouldn’t normally be able to talk to (it’s Paris, people). I talked in my blog about how I do something everyday that scares me, and I have to admit that it is hella awks to ask randoms on the street if you can film them for youtube, lol. BUT it forced me outside my comfort zone and I’m grateful for that! I also LOVE that all of you who are not French have a window through which you can see the day to day world of French/ international creatives and how they dress, live and express themselves. Thanks for watching! LOVE YOU and let me know what video YOU want to see next! THRIFTED OUTFITS OF THE WEEK | back to school + halloween

05:32
hello lovely loves. As summer has melted into fall I've been inspired to film a thrifted outfits of the week lookbook 4 u. You've all been curious about my eclectic hairstyles, where I get my outfits in general, my inspiration for my aesthetic, etc. This started out as a creepy back to school lookbook but I've been inspired by the costume pieces into making it more low key halloween themed. I really love pastel goth /80s and 90s style pieces so these vintage looks aren't necessarily costumes but editing I realised each outfit had it's own aesthetic and so I was inspired to make it fall retro. I tend to really pass from one vibe to another, from retro madonna to androgynous, to witchy grunge depending on my mood (it all falls apart at the end of the week lmao), and I love the idea of an iconic character or story theme. I really love mixing up hairstyles and having contradictions and what I love about slow fashion and thrifting in general is how easy it is to do this on a budget. I hope that you enjoy watching this cookbook as much as I did editing it (even if I got a lil rambly at the end) and it can maybe inspire you to hit up goodwill or a thrift shop and find some treasures. Most of all I hope you find your own style and have fun with all of the possibilities. Have an amazing rentrée as we say in French! bisous xx thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe! follow me on Insta: @_purple_palace and my blog: www.witchyparis.com music by moow

WHO ARE YOU WHEN YOU'RE ALONE? | visual poem

02:14
You are at your truest self when you are alone. So, then, WHO are you when you're alone? This spoken word piece/very short was made in an effort to explore what it means to really know someone, especially in a romantic context. As someone who requires a considerable amount of solitude to feel happy, I know that I am different when I'm by myself. But that does that mean you don't know me? And do I, know you? Do we have the same fears and vulnerabilities? Do you have weird habits I don't know about? Orson Welles once said "we're born alone, we live alone, we die alone. Only through our love and friendship can we create the illusion for the moment that we're not alone". If that's true, we must accept to never really know someone 100 percent, but I can't keep from wondering anyway... Thanks so much for watching! If you enjoyed this video, please like and subscribe for more content. Or leave a little comment as I would love to hear feedback. Much love, Shay

Art Studio Vlog + Working on a French Film

04:47
Hello beautiful friends! This art studio vlog has manifested itself as a sort of week in my life creating, finding inspiration.. As some of you know by my Insta stories, almost this entire summer I've been spending my days in the art studio working on the props and sculptures for a French film (a dream come true). I'm excited to show you images of my day to day in Paris working on this project-- painting, making giant chandelier sculptures, dancing my funny little dances. I tried to capture the art process and lifestyle of this experience by filming not only when I'm drawing or making things but also the slow in-betweens. The moments of calm where I need to find inspiration and reconnect to my creativity (podcasts and books help a lot with this). I am really grateful to be able to work on the decor/production design for this film and found it truly magical to have this beautiful studio space to create in. I realized that I have this huge need to be alone and thus explored this thought in this video. I would describe myself as an extroverted introvert and the need to be alone to recharge is something I questioned the normalcy of for a long time. It really can be lonely being a creative person, a foreigner in France and this is why I'm so grateful for this community. When I say "My home is my head, it's the best place I know", it's because I know it better than any other place that exists and I can always take it with me. It's where daydreams are made and funny thoughts, where seeds are planted. The beginning text is something I wrote before I started this channel, after daydreaming about a place I would like to go to. When I was thinking of the name for this channel, I thought of this text, this imaginary place, and the idea that this community could be where I could build my very own Purple Palace. Thank you for being a part of that. This video may seem short, but in many ways it goes on and on and on forever. I wanted to share my thoughts with you because maybe it will resonate with someone on the internets. Here is the text from the video: In my mind, I daydreamed about a Purple Palace inside of it I put all of the objects and thoughts I ever had, and unlike my head it never ran out of space. It’s where I can go and No one ever asks why unless they really are just curious I don’t know where it is but I know it has gold ceiling fans and brocoli trees and it can fit inside of the palm of my hand it doesn’t expect anything but everytime I bring it something new it is very grateful and expands it’s imaginary hands When other people ask me what I’m making I tell them, it’s a present for the purple palace They nod because it’s not something to misunderstand Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe and connect on my social media: Insta: @_purple_palace blog: www.witchyParis.com

hEaD iN tHe cLoUdS | DIY painted pant suit

02:46
Hi babes! Today I'm coming at you with a DIY dreamy cloud custom painted outfit! (OOTD). I've been super into creating DIY slow fashion pieces lately (because it's fun as F!) and thought I'd do a fun little lookbook for you. Recently I went thrifting and got this blue men's androgynous pantsuit which was giving me a very "Annie Hall" type vibe/aesthetic (if you haven't seen this movie, go watch It now!) I was feeling kind of artsy and wanted to customize it and make it more into a really unique statement piece that I could style in a bunch of different ways (pairing the jacket with a shiny metallic skirt, etc). I painted simple white cloud shapes all over it which I feel gives it that funky art hoe style that I love! I used just regular acrylic paint for the clouds and for the tulips I used puff paint to give it more texture. I love doing DIY clothes and making really flashy pieces that can be chic or "décontractée" as we say in French. With the summer hat (I've had this baby forever and it's my lucky hat) I think it makes for a really European looking lookbook (I like to style my hair up with it to give more of the androgynous vibe.) I also get: Benny and Joon vibes (another amazing film) and 80's chic. This is definitely a little daring of an outfit idea (especially for Paris, France) but I honestly get SO many compliments on it and it makes me feel like a a magician or something so I aint mad at it ;) I hope you all enjoyed the video and are inspired to go do a thrift haul and see what pieces you can customize!! Much love from Paris, bisous AND by the way... THANKS for 25k! That's crazy! To celebrate I will be doing a bit of a q & A so feel free to send me your questions! Want more? 🌹Taking Myself on a Date in Paris 🌹 *romance* // French/English vlog

09:27
I never want to get too old to spend the day under the trees, go on a carrousel ride at midnight, speak in colors. Today’s video in French/english is special to me because it’s an ode to that. I’m taking myself on a date in Paris, and bringing you on my last “artist date” of the summer. I wanted to share with you these precious outings and moments of doing childlike dreamy things, and sharing my feelings and thoughts with you. I truly believe the little pleasures in life like sketching for hours, eating an ice cream, having a picnic under the sun that bring the most joy. The idea behind these artist dates, is to inspire you to go out and do something fun with the only goal being to play. There are no rules. They are so life changing. If you are new here I’m an American expat living in Paris, and an art student. My videos are almost always in French and English because I want to bring these two cultures together through the experiences I show. Anyway I hope you enjoy, and if you are inspired to go on your own artist date, let me know what you did! Love you all. Exploring Secret Bars in Paris: Enter through the freezer of a pizzeria?! PARIS VLOG

06:52
Hello you beautiful humans! In today's weekly Paris Vlog I'm taking you with me to discover one of the Secret Bars in Paris! This was my first time visiting a speakeasy in Paris (I talk about the Lavomatic, which is in a laundry mat speakeasy as well) and it was quite an experience. My sister found out about the place in this video called Moonshiner, a Paris speakeasy hidden inside (or rather through) the freezer of a pizzeria in Bastille. I love discovering alternative nightlife in Paris and testing out different bars so I was totally down to try out this French take on prohibition. AlthoughI moved to France a few years ago I still never heard of this pizzeria, so I thought that I would vlog the experience and take you francophiles with me. I know what you guys are thinking--it's a hidden bar, so why tell the world about it? Why give away all of the Paris tips and secrets? Okay, okay calm down Susan. As we all know, prohibition is long over, and the "secret bar" tactic in big cities like NYC, London or Paris is a marketing scheme to get people excited OK?! So while me, my sister and my brother in law enjoyed the experience---the mystique surrounding the speakeasy was much greater than the actual place. I mean, it was pretty cool walking through a freezer to find a completely different atmosphere on the other side but the regular old bar we went to later (well I don't know if you could call it that...The Monkey has actual fire on the bar and a giant tree) was just as good. So, A unique experience? Yes. A must do? Ehhhh. It's a bit pricey. It's a cool first date idea though, I'll give you that! If you are traveling to Paris, stay tuned for a video about nightlife in Paris an my top alternative/quirky bars coming soon. That about sums up my little excerpt of this Paris speakeasy vlog---for more of my writing visit my alternative Paris blog WWW.witchyParis.com where I give Paris tips and bi*ch about French administration. Why I Speak French Fluently | C1/C2 level, self-taught (FRENCH W/ENGISH SUBTITLES)

10:25
Hello you beautiful humans! In this fun little video, I'm talking all about how and why I speak French fluently (it wasn't all roses, trust me) as an American who lives in France and speaks French. The video is in FRENCH but activate the subtitles and you can follow along in English. It is totally possible to become fluent in French fast with out french classes if you are motivated. I myself am self taught in French (in the sense that I didn't take any french classes) and three years ago I passed the Delf B2 test. Since I have stayed and worked/studied in France since then, I've only improved thus I estimate being at a c1/C2 level (at least orally) haha. I really tried to be fun and creative with this video while giving examples and tips as to how you can learn French fast, and how not to do it! As I said in the video, the three most important aspects to speaking French fluently are: Speaking daily (making French friends and holding conversations in French), reading and watching french cinema, and starting with the basics with French grammaire and learning books like Gafi. I also speak about my favorite French youtubers such as Solange te Parle and L'eau douce, as well as some French new wave cinema to get you started! I've been asked a lot how long it took me to speak French fluently, and the answer is kind of difficult--what is French fluency? What is being bilingual French/English? I definitely still make mistakes and maybe will never lose my accent completely, but the most important part for me is feeling comfortable and fluid when speaking French. Most importantly, don't be afraid or blocked when speaking French as mistakes are good and we can learn from them. Whether you're studying abroad in France, or going to pass the Delf B1/B2/C1, I hope this video was helpful and inspired you (and maybe made you laugh? haha) because when I frist moved to Paris I really couldn't even say 'bonjour'. It's never too late to learn a language or join a French language exchange! I hope you enjoyed this vlog in French, if you did please give me a thumbs up and let me know so I can potentially make more videos in French! Subscribe for more content in French/English! Want more? Making FRENCH FRIENDS as an expat *cringe* | Foreigners in Paris

11:07
Hello and welcome babes! Today's video is all about our experience with making FRENCH FRIENDS as expats in Paris, France! This is admittedly my cringiest video to date because Ima keep it REAL with you guys and tell you the dark side of making friends with Parisians and all the embaressing messes that come with it. I hope these paris tips can help you whether your moving to France, studying abroad or just want to break out of that EXPAT BUBBLE! First of all, I did this collab with Prana at Work (a link to her channel is here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWmNFlapeS1rNxcWMSR8ynA) Isn't she the sweetest? I asked her to make this video with me and share her social life in Paris secrets/how she goes about meeting people in Paris. This is a question I get A LOT! Because hey, don't we all just want to live like a local and adapt to life abroad? Who wants to be that toad in the corner who can't speak French? Nobody! I touched on this in my video called: Why I speak French Fluently linked here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1gQSu1IpnE&t=2s Maria and I are both married to French guys (see that video here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVB_VAJioZs&t=195s ) but that doesn't mean we had a built in friend group. As we share with you our expat diaries, we talk about how the French culture is different when it comes to making friends: While it's hard to get in to the group, once you are truly a friend, it's like your family. COME THRIFTING WITH ME IN PARIS: my favorite spots

13:52
COME THRIFTING WITH ME IN PARIS! Sorry for the all CAPS, I'm just really excited to show y'all my favorite thrifting spots in this Paris Vlog :D To be honest I was really bummed when I moved to Paris from Florida because I couldn't find any cheap thrift shops like Goodwill. They were all overpriced and overcrowded. The place I'm going to be taking you to in the 18th is more of a treasure chest. As an American expat in Paris it takes a while to find the best places, so I hope you all enjoy these little tip offs :) I'm also showing you guys the insides of the dressing room, the French store ambiance and a little try on haul. I found some cool 90 style gems and some cool pieces and it really made the rainy day feel brighter. It was also cool to show you guys some footage of my neighborhood in the East of Paris! Follow me on Depop! @purplepalace What are your favorite thrift stores if your in Paris? What did you think of the stuff I found? Thanks for watching, If you guys liked this video, don't forget to subscribe and give me a thumbs up! -----------FOLLOW ME ON SOCIAL MEDIA--------- Instagram: http://instagram.com/_purple_palace Twitter: https://twitter.com/_purplepalace

IS FRENCH EASY? My American mom tried to guess French word meanings | Challenge!

07:12
I get asked all the time: Is French Easy? To help answer that I've made this challenge video where my AMERICAN mom (who knows no French) tries to guess FRENCH word meanings. Yes, that's right, Introducing my mom! Isn't she the cutest? When I was in Florida for my sister's wedding we filmed this and so I'm excited to finally put it up (better late than never ;) I often play games with my family where they have to guess French word meanings and it's always really funny! My mom (who is American like me obviously) is a complete beginner in French and so I tried to pick easy French words. It 's fun to see what an English speaker who has just began to learn French guesses based on sounds and similarities to English. What you will find, is that even though she's never studied abroad or studied French, she got quite a lot of answers right because of the similarities between English and French. If you're just starting to learn French its quite easy to start out with simple vocabulary. My mom is coming to Paris in September so I'm really excited for her to see France and make the most of her time with me! As I am an American expat and bilingual in French, I will obviously be able to help her with this challenge but for those of you who want to become fluent in French make sure to watch my video on how I learned French! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1gQSu1IpnE&t=118s Please let me know if you want more French language videos! French Words used in this challenge: BISOUS--Kiss MAQUILLAGE--makeup FEU--FIRE OEUF---EGG VOITURE--CAR VERNIS A ONGLE--Nail polish POISSON--FISH SLIP--Underwear Thanks for watching, please subscribe if you want to see more videos! FRENCH ART SCHOOL VLOG #2 (French/English subs)

07:12
Today's school vlog means a lot to me. This is a bit of a compilation of some days/moments in my life in art college that I filmed over the course of the last few days, weeks, months and strung together. Some of the footage was never meant to be a part of a vlog, but rather an experimentation (the bathroom free associating in Korean and English with Ji for example...I didn't understand what she was saying but it didn't matter because it was enough just to know that someone was listening.) And even if some of these memories are cringey or a bit raw, I put a lot of care and love into editing it, and the joy that it brought me made me realize how special the experience of studying in this small creative school in France really is. I am very moved that some of you have taken interest in my life as an American in France, an aspiring artist and a dreamer, so I am trying to be as inclusive as possible by making the videos French/English friendly with subtitles. Welcome to the party. I hope that this little diary entry of a video can inspires you in some way--weather you want to study abroad or move to France or be a more creative person. My hope that in sharing this with you, my isolated experience can transcend the little space in time in which it existed. I wish this could have been longer, but it's summer now. This is the last school vlog until September, so I hope you enjoy. My next video will be a q&a, so let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for being here, I love you all. subscribe & follow me on Instagram: @_purple_palace MUSIC: femme fatale remix from Soundcloud (on my liked playlist ShaynaKlee) and The huddle formation by Go team. HOW TO MOVE TO FRANCE: THE HUSTLE IS REAL (visa + job tips)

12:57
HEY HI HELLO. In this video, I'm comin' at ya with three ideas on how to move to Paris, France! Money is still a really taboo subject but I think it's important to acknowledge the fact that not everyone is rich AF and that there are some alternative ways to move to France if you're broke. The tips I outline in this video on moving to France are ones I would have really loved to have known about when I was considering moving to Paris, (hence why I made a video on the subject ;). Please keep in mind that THE HUSTLE IS REAL and not for everyone! If you are uncomfortable with Airbnb's and the unknown and French bureaocracy than maybe rethink your options? Moving to France is a challenge, but if you're tenacious, it's very possible! You just have to be honest with yourself and see what you're comfortable with. I am going to be sharing my experience as an au pair, talk about visas and other job opportunities for France. If you guys have any questions or comments about the points outlined in the video, please write down in the comment section and give this video a big thumbs up (it makes me smile :) ALSO sorry this video gets kind of out of focus, Im new to vlogging so bare with me :D For more videos on living in France/videos in French and English subscribe to my channel! When Things Work Out You Dress in Gold | Paris Vlog #6

07:49
Hello everyone and welcome to a good day that I had. I was in a bit of a dreamy mood editing this weekly Paris blog (might have been the Gold dress ootd, might have been my inspiration after finding out about my internship?) In any case, the good vibes, the positivity, the sunny France picnic feels are flowing. I'm happy to have shared this very special chapter in my Paris diaries by taking you guys with me on an artist date. So the book I reference in the vlog is called the Artists way and I must have bought it at least 5 times because I keep giving it away to people I love. It talks about the importance of doing things for the purpose of 'play' and not just for an end result. It can be as simple as going to the thrift store like I did, or signing up for a painting class. No pressure, just fun. I wanted to share this with you guys because I want my videos to be more personal and include my hopes and dreams and more about my daily life in France and as an artist---not just sit down and talk about cultural differences. That's why I took you guys to Buttes Chaumont, that's why I filmed the sun on my face, or took the camera with me while I twirled in the streets of Paris in a gold dress. Isn't gold just everything, btw? Thanks for hanging out, for watching me sketch in my sketchbook and flip through architectural magazines. I hope that this has inspired you in some way. Thanks for watching and for sharing my joys and supporting me through my disappointments. I hope you travel, dream, and read lots of books this summer. Here is to self love, bisous. Want more? Being an artist in France struggles (life update)

13:09
Hey friends, in this video I wanted to touch on a few thing going on in my life. I don't normally post these kinds of *sad* videos, but I want to show what it's really like not only living abroad in France, but also some struggles I've faced recently as an Artist in Paris. I've learned a lot from the experience that I am going to share with you in this video--about protecting your work, about being careful who you collaborate with and also trusting your intuition. These are some valuable life lessons that I hope, if you are a young creative as well, can learn from. I think a lot of this has to do with being an expat as well, because I think when we move abroad, we are more trusting or eager to dive into new projects with out any reserve (this is the adventurer in me, I suppose). This video is a bit chatty and long (so sorry if its not your vibe) but I'm trying to keep it real and honest. This is maybe one in a series of France diaries to come. I wrote first about this on my blog link here: https://witchyparis.com/2018/05/10/why-im-sad-facing-plagiarism-as-an-artist-in-france/ Thank you guys for watching, I really appreciate you all. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is a link to other places you can find me online, bisous MY SOCIAL MEDIA: Instagram: _purple_palace Down below are some FAQS that I get. AU PAIR IN PARIS: HOW TO TIPS + MY EXPERIENCE

13:33
Hello you beautiful humans! Today I'm talking all about how to become an au pair in France! It's been a while since I was an Au pair in Paris, and although I'm no longer a nanny and am studying in Paris instead, I thought I would share my au pair in Europe experience. I think when you decide you want to be an au pair, the first and most crucial step is finding a family. I found my host family using WWW.Aupairworld.com instead of using an agency. Most of the au pairs I knew also went this route as there are security checks and it's very user friendly. Another web site is GreatAupair, but I can't vouch for it. In this video I talk about the importance of negotiating your situation (for example, to live with the family or in a separate appartement?) and share the process of getting the Au pair Visa for France. Do note that the earlier you start looking for a host family, the better your chance to find a good fit on Au pair World! I also talk a bit about the typical day in my au pair life including French classes and preparing the gouté, driving in Paris, etc and my living situation/salary. There is a lot involved in being an Au pair and I know that I only scratched the surface, but I hope that I was able to answer some of the basic questions so you can get started in moving abroad! PARIS VLOG #4 Dancing in Jazz clubs + exploring Montmartre w/my sister!

09:35
You guys, my sister came to Paris!!! In my fourth ever Paris blog I'll be taking you with us to dance in the oldest Jazz bar in Paris, Le caveau de la huchette) which you might recognise from La la land as well as strolling through Montmartre on a typical afternoon. It was really fun for me to play tour guide in the city and show them one of the secrets of Paris, France ;) Jazz in Paris has such a long tradition and we definitely had fun swinging the night away and drinking a little too much wine as the French do. We had SO much fun, and soon I will be coming out with a video about my top favorite alternative bars in Paris (not for the basic souls) so stay tuned if you want to get more tips about navigating Paris by night. Thrifted outfit ideas | Lookbook 2018

05:08
HEY BABES! Welcome to my second ever Thrifted LOOKBOOK! It's spring in The city of Paris, which means this Florida girl is bustin' out all the sassy aesthetic fits. All outfits that are worn in this lookbook are vintage from local thrift stores in France or DIY (like the first jean jacket) which was made by yours truly. The first look is the jacket I DIY tie dyed and decorated with puff paint, with a dancers onsie underneath and a classic plaid skirt thrifted from Emmaus. This is a look I'd wear around in the city (city girl look) of just wandering the little rues of Paris. The second look is a bit more sassy grunge and I included it because April in Paris definitely sees some rainy days. The outfit is a thrifted black trench coat (one of my favorite vintage pieces) paired with second hand white high waisted retro pants and a Hawaii button down. I filmed in my studio at school (I'm an art student) and alone in the RER (train in Paris). The third look is for picnic days! Im really into layering long sleeves under dresses as its not that warm yet. I love purple and pink together and the pink silk dress was a gift that my friend bought at the KILO Shop. I'm definitely really inspired by 90s style, festival culture, and try to keep it alternative and fun with my outfits. If you liked this video please give it a thumbs up so I know, subscribe and follow me on DEPOP @PurplePalace for One of A kind vintage/retro clothing. I'll be coming out with some new Lookbooks soon, "Art hoe" and French girl inspired so stay tuned. ________________________________ FAQ on my channel. What kind of camera do you use? J'AI PEUR DU CHANGEMENT - Jimmy Freeman (cover)

03:11
J'espère que cet version vous aurez plu, et merci pour être la :) Hello, in this video I made a cover and music video of the song "I'm afraid of change" (originally by Jimmy Freeman.) I love this song so much and wanted to give a different tone to the melody (A little sadder can be ..) At the age I have, I often ask questions and make reflections about the loneliness, the meaning of life, what is "true or false"? Especially to search without stopping, the answers to my inner reflections. I hope you enjoy this version, and thank you for being here :)

School in the USA vs FRANCE: Differences + culture shocks (FRENCH SUBTITLES)

12:08
Hello you beautiful humans! In today's video, me and Maria, from the youtube channel Prana at Work, are talking all about the differences between school in the USA VS school in France. There are a tons of things to cover, so whether you want to study abroad in France or are here for the long term, we're sharing our experience to help you out! Maria and I met through youtube because we are both Americans in Paris, France, studying in French and married to French guys (tons of collaboration potential!) Maria is studying Human Resources at L'essec business school, which is an international business school in both English and French. For my part, I'm at a very small public art school. It was fun to compare and contrast the differences between the United States and France and see that actually, our two French schools are very different. One thing that was a bit of a culture shock to both of us is the lack of team sports and activities with in the French school. While there are tons of things going on in Paris, school is meant for learning and less for socializing in the French culture. Another thing that shocked me personally is the fact that everything is a bit more laid back (at least in my art school) and smoking is permitted inside (only in France) haha. We both really miss the charismatic professors as it's true, in the USA there are a lot of big personalities. However, I quite enjoy the fact that I'm on the same level as the professors and they aren't exalted in France (more liberal I suppose). As Maria and I both have a degree from universities in the USA and now are working on university degrees in France, we have a pretty unique opportunity to see from both sides. One of my favorite things about being a student in France is the price! France makes it easy to be a student by making education affordable for everyone. I also really enjoy how small my school is and that in France, whatever you study, you most likely end up doing in the long run. LIFE AS AN AMERICAN LIVING IN FRANCE: Honest Q&A | EXPAT TAG

17:02
Hello you beautiful humans! Today I'm coming at you with the Expat tag! This is my first ever Q and A on my channel and I think a great way to get to know me and my background --why I started youtube, why I moved to Paris, France, as an American etc. Because I am doing a lot of videos about how to move to France, working and studying abroad, French culture and Paris vlogs which are my personal favourites to do. I am really excited to share with you my journey and shed a little light on how this American girl ended up in France. I explain pretty early on that I was an au pair first, and then decided to stay for love. Anyway, this was the beginning of my journey and my original reason for studying abroad/ making France my permanent home. I am now a student in a French Fine art college (check out my Instagram if your interested in seeing my art) and am (finally) bilingual in French and English. It definitely was not at all easy and building a community an support system is one of my main reasons for starting this Youtube Channel. If anyone is considering moving to Paris, I think this expat tag video could really help you or at least help you to understand my channel a bit better. Please give me a thumbs up if you enjoyed this video and subscribe if you want to see more videos from me! MY SOCIAL MEDIA: Instagram: _purple_palace Down below are some FAQS that I get. I do accept video requests in the comments and almost always reply back, but I can't promise that I won't miss any because I'm only human! FAQS Is Paris Safe? I share with you guys my story about being attacked and how the men in Paris have proven to be a major culture shock for me. As an American expat in France, I share with you my journey and so I hope that you will enjoy! Have you had any experiences like this? If so, please comment and let me know your thoughts. PARIS VLOG #5 SPRING VIBES | Performing in Museums & Surprising my bestie!

12:01
SPRING HAS ARRIVED IN PARIS BABES! I am SO excited to share with you my weekly Paris vlog (a sort of day in my life in France) because I can just feel the positivity and love radiating from it. First of all thank you so much for being here! I have had a rough couple of weeks, but with the help from a few dear Friends (and the sun), the clouds have parted and I've started feeling like my self again. SO In this video, I'm taking you guys out on a beautiful spring day in Paris! First, we surprise my best friend on her birthday (the vlog is in French/English in some moments because we normally speak French together so hopefully the subtitles don't both you to much!) then off to the Marais for a picnic in the Park (a MUST do in Paris--this is sort of like my Paris routine...I could spend literally hours just chatting under the sun in the grass or reading a good book) I wanted to show you guys a bit of the French lifestyle (from an expat perspective) which consists of slow days, good wine and great company. We closed the vlog by Performing in the Musée Picasso (Picasso Museum) in the Marais district of Paris for the expo of Guernica! This was a Blast to do (I LOVE getting dressed up!) and such a unique experience. I often participate in expos and art performances in Paris and it was really fun taking you a long with me :) This is actually exactly why I started the vlog--As an artist in France I am involved in a lot of unique cultural activities and I really wanted to share that with you all In the form of "expat diaries". SO definitely expect a lot more vlogs like these because Spring and summer in Paris is literally MAGIC! Also, I hear all the time that French people are cold but that is not the case in the creative community! My friend shares with you guys at a moment her theory on why it is SO hard to make French friends (she is a French girl, obviously) and I am coming out with a video next Wednesda on the subject so Please watch out for that! Maybe you haven't noticed but I have started coming out with two videos a week! Normally one on French culture and one a vlog. This was a natural progression and I am quite surprised myself because with art school and everything I never thought I'd have the time! Anyway, I would LOVE to hear from you and about what kind of videos you enjoy--French language videos? School vlogs? Paris tips? Face to face sit down chats? I have a ton of ideas but my main goal is to build a community here and help people so let me know down below :) In the mean time, enjoy the spring vibes and lots of love to you friends. Bisous! What I Wear to Parties In Paris | thrifted & fancy | lookbook

04:01
What do I wear out to parties in Paris, France? The night life here is fun and unique, and In this video I'm going to show you four outfits that I would wear. I hope this look book for New Years Eve inspires you! Almost every look is thrifted, you know ;) The first look is romantic, a parisian inspired (red beret), long gown and red flowers. I wear gold tap shoes for a touch of fun. The second is more laid back, purple sweatsuit with a gold glam jacket. I really like this trend that mixes sporty with chic. My hair is in little buns which I think goes well with this laid back look. The shoes are black and white loafers. The third look is really comfy and versatile. The white silk blouse and high waisted black pants can be paired with just about anything (even chunky black headphones) a bunch of different jackets (the yellow or the black) and is a classic. The fourth and final look is my ultimate new years eve dress. I thrifted this baby for 15 euro and it fits like a glove. The blue sparkles and mesh on the collar is timeless. Follow me on Depop: @purplepalace I hope you guys liked this NYE lookbook! Like and subscribe if you did and don't forget to leave your questions in the comment section. DEPRESSED WITH THE SIMPSONS- short film (French with English subtitles)

02:04
The Simpsons never change, but I do. In this video, I incarnate a young woman who has experienced a tragic loss: her own. Forced to come to terms with her own immortality, she exits the frozen world of the screen when she is coughed up by her character in "The simpsons". In a current state of denial she sings the words "I'm sad, and I don't know why, maybe I do but I don't want to know why" while traveling through her hightened cartoon memories. Trapped in an ideology of prime time tv, we watch her journey as she comes to terms with death, depression and irreversable loss of innocence.
