Thai, U.S. Marines Get Tased - Super Painful TASER Training

02:13
Royal Thai and U.S. Marines with C Company, 3rd Law Enforcement Battalion, conduct a taser qualification course during Exercise Cobra Gold 2015 at Camp Samae San in Sattahip, Thailand. A Taser is an electroshock weapon sold by Taser International. It fires two small dart-like electrodes, which stay connected to the main unit by conductors, to deliver electrical current to disrupt voluntary control of muscles causing "neuromuscular incapacitation". Someone struck by a Taser experiences stimulation of his or her sensory nerves and motor nerves, resulting in strong involuntary muscle contractions. Tasers do not rely only on pain compliance, except when used in 'drive stun' mode, and are thus preferred by some law enforcement over non-Taser stun guns and other electronic control weapons. Tasers were introduced as non-lethal weapons to be used by police to subdue fleeing, belligerent, or potentially dangerous people, who would have otherwise been subjected to more lethal weapons such as a firearm. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taser Video by Lance Cpl. Making Marines – 12 Weeks of United States Marine Corps Recruit Training

10:54
Ever wonder how Marines are made? Take a brief look into 12 weeks of intensive and frantic recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. United States Marine Corps Recruit Training (commonly known as "boot camp") is an initial training that each recruit must successfully complete in order to serve in the United States Marine Corps. Week 1 Recruits arrive late at night and are immediately thrust into the whirlwind of in-processing, haircuts, uniform and gear issue and medical evaluations. Recruits undergo an initial strength test to ensure they are prepared for training. Week 2 During week two, recruits meet their team of drill instructors for the first time, learn Marine Corps Core Values and are introduced to the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program. Week 3 During week 3, the recruits continue MCMAP training and negotiate the Bayonet Assault Course and Obstacle Course. Week 4 During week 4, the recruits continue MCMAP training, tackle an initial Combat Fitness Test and face the senior drill instructor inspection. Week 5 Week 5 serves as the final week of Phase I, which is when recruits participate in swim qualifications and conduct an initial Physical Fitness Test. Week 6 Grass Week. Recruits hike to the rifle range and begin to learn the fundamentals of Marine Corps marksmanship. Recruits learn the proper firing positions and spend hours sitting in grass fields sighting in on practice targets. Week 7 Firing Week. Recruits take what they learned from Grass Week and apply it downrange. Week 8 During field week, recruits put their combat mindset to the test, day and night. Week 9 During week 9, recruits are put on working parties around the depot, experience what it is like to patrol areas at night and undergo a series commander's inspection. Week 10 During week 10 of recruit training, recruits complete the Bayonet Assault Course, Pugil Sticks III and the Combat Fitness Test. Week 11 During week 11 of training, recruits completed their final drill evaluation, final physical fitness test, and conquered the rappel tower. Week 12 Recruits take on The Crucible. After completing 12 grueling weeks of transformation, recruits have earned the Eagle, Globe and Anchor, and can now finally be called United States Marines. Electromagnetic Railgun Firing Hypervelocity Projectile @ Mach 7

00:57
Watch Hyper Velocity Projectile (HVP) being demonstrated at U.S. Navy's research labs. The HVP is a next-generation, common, low drag, guided projectile capable of completing multiple missions for gun systems such as the Navy 5-Inch, 155-mm, and future railguns. Types of missions performed will depend on gun system and platform. The program goal is to address mission requirements in the areas of Naval Surface Fire Support , Cruise Missile Defense, Anti-Surface Warfare and other future Naval mission areas. HVP’s low drag aerodynamic design enables high-velocity, maneuverability and decreased time-to-target. These attributes coupled with accurate guidance electronics provide low-cost mission effectiveness against current threats and the ability to adapt to air and surface threats of the future. (www.onr.navy.mil/en/Media-Center/Fact-Sheets/Hypervelocity-Projectile.aspx) "Energetic weapons, such as EM railguns, are the future of naval combat," said Rear Adm. Matt Klunder, the chief of naval research. "The U.S. Navy is at the forefront of this game-changing technology." Rocket Sled Ejection Seat Test At USAF Holloman High Speed Test Track

02:04
There are very few missions requiring years of planning and preparation, only to be accomplished in less than six seconds. There are even fewer facilities where such a mission can take place. The Holloman High Speed Test Track (HHSTT) is a facility that enables test scientists and engineers to meet both of the above criteria. The test track is a 10-mile long, precision-aligned track that provides scientists and engineers a platform from which to conduct their various missions. Tests on the track provide valid data on problems which cannot be solved by other ground test means. The tests are conducted by securing the test item to a rocket-propelled sled and launching the sled to a speed identical to that of which it will encounter in an actual flight. U-2 Spy Plane Pilot Lives On The Edge

08:02
Beale Air Force Base, located in California, is home to the U-2. This aircraft was originally designed to fly high-altitude intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions during the Cold War to gather intelligence on enemies. Today, the U-2S flies in support of a variety of missions from ground combat to disaster relief. The U-2S is a single-seat, single-engine, high-altitude/near space reconnaissance and surveillance aircraft providing signals, imagery, and electronic measurements and signature intelligence, or MASINT. Routinely flown at altitudes over 70,000 feet, the U-2 pilot must wear a full pressure suit similar to those worn by astronauts. The low-altitude handling characteristics of the aircraft and bicycle-type landing gear require precise control inputs during landing; forward visibility is also limited due to the extended aircraft nose and "taildragger" configuration. A second U-2 pilot normally "chases" each landing in a high-performance chase car, assisting the pilot by providing radio inputs for altitude and runway alignment. These characteristics combine to earn the U-2 a widely accepted title as the most difficult aircraft in the world to fly. While on missions, U-2 pilots often see a natural occurrence called the terminator line. It’s a line that separates day and night. It is also referred to as the "grey line" and the "twilight zone." It is a fuzzy line due to our atmosphere bending sunlight. This "ah ha" moment is a beautiful reminder of how small we are when skimming the edge of space. Phalanx CIWS Close-in Weapon System In Action - US Navy's Deadly Autocannon

02:40
Footage of the Phalanx CIWS Close-in Weapon System in various target practicing exercises. The Phalanx Close-In Weapons System (CIWS) was developed as the last line of automated weapons defense (terminal defense or point defense) against anti-ship missiles (AShMs), including high-g and maneuvering sea-skimmers. The basis of the system is the M61 Vulcan Gatling gun autocannon. Consisting of a radar-guided 20 mm (0.79 in) Gatling gun mounted on a swiveling base, the Phalanx has been used by Navies around the world. The CIWS is designed to be the last line of defense against anti-ship missiles. Due to its design criteria, its effective range is very short relative to the range of modern ASMs, from 1 to 5 nautical miles (9 km). The gun mount moves at a very high speed and with great precision. The system takes minimal inputs from the ship, making it capable of functioning despite potential damage to the ship.
