How to Create and Drop Table in SQL

01:53
Follow this easy step by step easy tutorial to learn how to create and drop table in SQL Server via Query Editor. Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ In this tutorial we will guide you on creating tables in SQL Server. As we know, the main components in databases are the tables, in which the data actually resides. Tables contain rows and columns, where columns act like the entity identifiers such as employee name, employee salary etc and rows contain the data values for those entities. So in this tutorial we will see how to create tables in SQL Server. Step 1 -- Navigating to the Desired Database Creating tables in SQL server is very easy. It can be done via commands which have to be written in the Query Editor. For that, first of all, let's move to the database where the table has to be created. Expand the Databases folders from top and further expand the required database inside which table has to be created. After that, right click on that Database and open up the Query Editor. Step 2 -- Creating Table In the Query Editor we will write the following queries: create table Inventory ( ID int, Product varchar(50), Quantity int, Price decimal (18,2) ); The query here means that we are interested to create a new table which would be called Inventory. It will have an ID column for the Product Ids and its Data type would be an Integer. It will have a column for Products containing the product names, so its data type would be Varchar. It will also contain a Quantity field with Integer set as its data type And last of all, a column for Price that will accept data as real numbers. Therefore we will declare its type as decimal and set its maximum length as 18 with a precision of 2 decimal places. After that is done, click on the Execute Button on top. A message will appear below the Query Editor that the query has been executed successfully. Step 3 -- Identifying the Table Now for verifying whether the table has been made, just click on the Tables icon and then on the Refresh Icon, located under the Object Explorer. With that done, our newly created Inventory table would appear over there. Click on the Inventory table and expand its columns. The fields would appear to be created exactly like we had mentioned in the query earlier. Step 4 -- Drop Table Now let's move on to how to drop tables in SQL. To delete a table and all of its contents, we use the DROP table command in SQL. Over here, let's drop the table we just made. For that, simply write: drop table Inventory With that done, let's execute the command. Now when we will Refresh the Object Explorer, we can see that the Inventory table has been deleted. And that was how to create table in SQL.

Alter database table columns without dropping table Part 67

04:06
In this video, we will discuss, altering a database table column without having the need to drop the table. Let's understand this with an example. Text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2013/08/part-67-alter-database-table-columns.html Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2013/09/part-67-alter-database-table-columns.html All SQL Server Text Articles http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/p/free-sql-server-video-tutorials-for.html All SQL Server Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/p/sql-server.html All Dot Net and SQL Server Tutorials in English https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?view=1&sort=dd All Dot Net and SQL Server Tutorials in Arabic https://www.youtube.com/c/KudvenkatArabic/playlists We will be using table tblEmployee for this demo. Use the sql script below, to create and populate this table with some sample data. Create table tblEmployee ( ID int primary key identity, Name nvarchar(50), Gender nvarchar(50), Salary nvarchar(50) ) Insert into tblEmployee values('Sara Nani','Female','4500') Insert into tblEmployee values('James Histo','Male','5300') Insert into tblEmployee values('Mary Jane','Female','6200') Insert into tblEmployee values('Paul Sensit','Male','4200') Insert into tblEmployee values('Mike Jen','Male','5500') The requirement is to group the salaries by gender. To achieve this we would write a sql query using GROUP BY as shown below. Select Gender, Sum(Salary) as Total from tblEmployee Group by Gender When you execute this query, we will get an error - Operand data type nvarchar is invalid for sum operator. This is because, when we created tblEmployee table, the "Salary" column was created using nvarchar datatype. SQL server Sum() aggregate function can only be applied on numeric columns. So, let's try to modify "Salary" column to use int datatype. Let's do it using the designer. 1. Right click on "tblEmployee" table in "Object Explorer" window, and select "Design" 2. Change the datatype from nvarchar(50) to int 3. Save the table At this point, you will get an error message - Saving changes is not permitted. The changes you have made require the following tables to be dropped and re-created. You have either made changes to a table that can't be re-created or enabled the option Prevent saving changes that require the table to be re-created. So, the obvious next question is, how to alter the database table definition without the need to drop, re-create and again populate the table with data? There are 2 options Option 1: Use a sql query to alter the column as shown below. Alter table tblEmployee Alter column Salary int Option 2: Disable "Prevent saving changes that require table re-creation" option in sql server 2008 1. Open Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 2008 2. Click Tools, select Options 3. Expand Designers, and select "Table and Database Designers" 4. On the right hand side window, uncheck, Prevent saving changes that require table re-creation 5. Click OK

Differentiates the forward and backslash formats for locating a File in Windows versus Linux. Finally, I show an example from the Oracle Java tutorial website for enumeration (more advanced). This servers as a stepping stone to begin our creation and use of our own Class files that we will begin creating in the next tutorials. In order to run this example we have to specify arguments (String[] args) - so I show how to specify those arguments both inside of Eclipse as well as running from the command-line. How to Create MySQL Primary Key

01:21
Follow this step by step easy tutorial to learn how to create mysql Primary key and also see how tables are created. Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ A primary key is basically a column in a database table, which can only have unique values in the individual fields. Further, it cannot contain NULL values. A single table will contain only one Primary Key, which can correspond to single or multiple fields. MySQL primary keys are actually implemented to avoid duplication within a database table In this tutorial we will learn to create MySQL primary key. Step 1 -- Switching to Appropriate Database In MySQL, primary key is applied on a particular field of the table. So for that, we have to start with creating a table. Over here, we have to specify in which database we will create the table. In our case, it is an HR database, hence, type the following: use HR and hit enter Step 2 -- Writing the Query Now let's start creating the table. Over here, we will name the table "Products" and it will have an identification field which we would name as "Product ID". This will be our primary key so for that we have to insert two keywords, NOT NULL and AUTO INCREMENT. Since we want numeric values for this field, we will give it the data type integer. Next, add a column for the product name. Let us define its data type as VarChar and set its maximum length as 50. After that, write the PRIMARY KEY keyword and specify the ID field within parenthesis. Insert a closing bracket followed by a semi colon in the end and hit Enter. Complete query would be: create table products ( prod_id INT NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, product_name VARCHAR(50), PRIMARY KEY(prod_id)); And that is how we can create MySQL primary keys.
From Java Code to Java Heap: Understanding the Memory Usage of Your Application

56:47
When you write and run Java code, the JVM makes several allocations on your behalf, but do you have an understanding of how much that is? This session provides insight into the memory usage of Java code, covering the memory overhead of putting "int" into an integer object and the cost of object delegation and the memory efficiency of the different collection types. It also gives you an understanding of the off-Java (native) heap memory usage of some types of Java objects, such as threads and sockets. Most importantly, the session covers how to determine where there are inefficiencies in your application and how to choose the right collections to improve your Java code. Transforming AutoCAD text and line data into Oracle Spatial data

06:23
In this demo, we have an AutoCAD dataset containing lines and text representing water information. You'll see how to use FME to map the schema between these two formats and preserve the important information contained in the original dataset. Oracle, like SQL Server and PostGIS, doesn't process the text data - it converts it to a point feature. You'll see how FME can extract important information (ex. rotation, height) from the original text feature and store it in Oracle. An existing schema can also be loaded by choosing the "Import Feature Types" option. In addition, you'll see how to create a published parameter that helps you avoid repetitive typing of passwords when reading and writing database formats.

Type-Safe, Efficient, Low-Level Programming for the JVM

01:00:22
AL1 is a new assembler language for the JVM that doesn't require any knowledge of its stack-based, sometimes nonintuitive instruction set. Instead it defines high-level, type-safe, Java-like methods that allow low-level access to the JVM. With intrinsic functions (without the calling overhead), AL1 makes it possible to "enhance" the JVM instruction set by offering unsigned integer arithmetic, safe arithmetic with overflow detection, alternate switch behavior, and so on. Although limited to the possibilities of the JVM, AL1 promises a significant performance boost in specific areas without the need to switch to native implementations in C, which is especially useful when creating time-critical frameworks and libraries. How to Insert Into Table In SQL

02:46
Follow this step by step easy tutorial to learn how to insert data into the tables in SQL Server Database via queries. Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ The data inside the database is held by the tables. The data can be inserted in these tables either by the queries or even with a straightaway Graphical method. In this tutorial we will see both the methods. Step 1 -- Locating the Appropriate Database First of all, we need to locate and expand the database where that particular table is present. After that, expand the table's directory. Then we will insert the data in the Inventory table. If we move into the column section, it can be seen that there are four fields which have to be added, namely the ID, the Product Name, the Quantity and the Price. Step 2 -- Writing query for inserting record Now to insert in table, SQL query would be: Insert into Inventory (id,Product, quantity, price) values (1,'abc',12,255.32); Make sure that each value is separated by a comma. Once done, simply press F5 to execute the query. At the bottom, in the messages section, a message will appear about table rows that have been affected. Step 3 -- Another Method of Insertion We can also insert data in a table by simply giving the values straight away. For that just write the following query: Insert into Inventory values (1,'ab2',30,300.36); Make sure that the values in query in SQL inserted into table are in the same order as the order of columns in the table. Now let's execute this query and in the messages section, you can see the rows that have been affected. To insert in table, SQL queries are required to be written with much care as error can arise if we just miss to insert ellipsis even. Step 4 -- Viewing Table Data Now let's check the table to see if the data has been inserted correctly. For that let us fetch all records from the inventory table and for that, write: Select * from inventory When we execute the query, you can see all the records in the results section below, and they are exactly the same as we mentioned in the query in earlier steps. Step 5 --Alternate Method of inserting data To insert in table, SQL provides another way through which we don't have to write SQL insert into table queries. For that, just right click on the inventory table and choose the 'Edit top 200 rows' option. Step 6 -- Inserting data in Fields Over here, we can start inserting the data in the table straight away, without using the queries. All we have to do is type the records in the fields and press enter to save the changes made in each field. And that is how data is inserted in tables in SQL using insert keyword.

How to Reset MySQL Autoincrement

01:16
Follow this step by step guide to reset the auto-increment option from mysql. The reset helps to stream line the database as you can type in the number that was previously used. Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.Facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on Facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ Introduction In this tutorial, we will show you how to reset the Auto increment field in MySQL. Mysql Auto-increment allows a unique number to be generated when a new record is inserted into a table. The function allows you to automatically add 1 to the previous record if you enter a new value. You can always reset Mysql auto increment so that when you delete a record your data does show an uneven picture. Step 1 -- Selecting records Over here, we will be using the MySQL instance called SQL Yog. Just consider this table having the names of animals and the serial number, in this example the Mysql auto increment function is in operation. If we delete any of the record from the table, that particular ID value will not be associated with any other field. This is because the auto number field will not change its order according to the changes made in the table. Step 2 -- Selecting the column To fix this problem, you can simply drop the column and make it once again. For that, we will write the alter table query along with the table name and specify the id column with the drop keyword. When we run the query and fetch all the records from the table, you will notice that the ID field has been deleted. Now let's type the Alter Table query and give the table name which in our case is animals. Next, we will include the ADD keyword along with the column name which is ID in this case. Next, we will specify the data type, which would be Medium Integer in this case and after that, let's add the Not Null and Auto increment Constraints along with the Primary key. With that done, let's run the query and fetch all the records from the database. With that done, you will notice that all Auto increment field has been reset, and all the ID's are now in order. And in this manner you can reset Mysql auto increment.

On July 4, 2012 EMC deployed project Propel, an SAP application stack that replaced the legacy Oracle environment it relied on for the greater part of the last two decades. Kate Parsons, a senior director and project management officer at EMC IT, provided her unique perspective on the initiative in a recent interview with Wikibon’s Dave Vellante. Parsons says that the motivation behind the upgrade was scale. The old system was designed for a “very different EMC”, she explains, and the company has grown a great deal over the years. Her crew started deleting data a quarter before the launch because the database hit its integer limit. Vellante asks Parsons about the approach EMC’s project methodology. She responds that her department adopted a “crawl, walk, run” mantra to minimize development time: the team focused on getting the core capabilities right before it started implementing more advanced functionality. Parsons credits the success of Propel to strong company-wide support. The higher-ups recognized that a new type of system is required to accommodate future growth, while business users also acknowledged the need for a change (albeit somewhat grudgingly.) After going over a few additional details, Parsons offers some advice to CIOs with similar projects. She says that her countermarks must commit sufficient HR to their initiatives and mark user engagement as a top priority. The latter is a lesson that EMC learned firsthand: employees were not as familiar with the system as they should have because business users who played an active role in the development process were too few and far between. They also were effectively off from their colleagues for the duration of the 27 month project.
Java Tutorial # 19 | Interface in Java - Java Beginners Tutorial by Java9s

21:02
Interfaces are simple but these play a very important role in Projects in promoting the loose coupling. This video tutorial explains about the all the things that you should know about the Interfaces in Java. Interfaces have abstract methods and their fields marked as public, static and final by default. I have explained the importance of the Interface with an example and how the interfaces provide a IS-A relationship for the concrete classes

For ETL Testing online training course details visit http://bigclasses.com/oracle-dba-online-training.html, call: +91 800 811 4040 ETL stands for Extract Transformation and Load, It collect the different source data from Heterogeneous System and Transform the data into Data warehouse. At the Time of Transformation, Data will first transforms to the Staging Table. Based on Business rules the data is mapped into target table, this process manually mapped and configured using ETL Tool ETL will not transforms the Duplicate data The speed of Data Transformation process will be based on the Source and Target Data ware House. We need to consider the OLAP (Online Analytic Processing) Structure as Data warehouse Model Source data consists of XML,Flat file. We need to set the validation at time of data transformation like 'Avoid the 'NULL' values in the table, validate the data type as using Tiny int instead of integer .etc Based on the user requirement, ETL process starts. Leveraging Scala's Typesystem for Better Code

44:12
View side-by-side with slides on our Parleys channel: http://www.parleys.com/play/520754d2e4b06de8a0ad9607 Scala's type system is extremely powerful (actually, it's Turing complete). By understanding the tight interplay between implicit conversions and the type system, we can write very concise, yet generic and powerful code. For example, while in Java collecting all int values from both Map[String,List[Integer]] and Map[String,Map[String,Integer]] (had to modify angular brackets due to YouTube limits -ed) requires two separate functions or reflection based code which isn't type safe, in Scala it is quite easy to write a single piece of type safe code to accomplish this for arbitrary nestings of Map and List. In this talk we will show how to write Scala code able to leverage the information given by the type signatures, both for better APIs and for writing less code. A talk given at Scalapeño 2013 by Ofer Ron, graciously hosted at Google's Campus Tel-Aviv.
