The session timezone is the timezone that the current user is logging in from. This can be different from the database’s timezone. The syntax of the CURRENT_DATE function is: CURRENT_DATE No parameters are needed - just the function name. The function returns a DATE data type, and it includes hours, minutes, and seconds. This is good to know because the default display format for DATE does not include the time component, and it can be easy to forget. It’s different to the SYSDATE function as SYSDATE returns the date in the database timezone, and CURRENT_DATE returns the date in the session time zone. So, if I’m logging in from Melbourne, Australia, and the database is in London, England, then the CURRENT_DATE will return a date and time that’s 10 hours ahead of SYSDATE. It may be on the same day, or it could be a different day, depending on when I run the function. You can perform arithmetic on this function just like any other date value (e.g. CURRENT_DATE - 7 for 7 days ago). Transforming and Cleaning Data Overview Welcome back to Exploratory Data Analysis with R and in this module we'll learn how to transform and clean our data to prepare it for exploratory data analysis. First we'll begin with an introduction to data munging or the process of transforming and cleaning our data. Next we'll learn how to load data into R. Then we'll learn how to clean and transform our data. Next we'll learn how to export data into various formats. Finally, we'll see a demo where we'll put all these steps together. Introduction Data munging is a popular term amongst data scientists for the process of transforming data from its raw form into a form suitable for data analysis. We do this because most data sets are not initially ready for analysis. Many data sets contain missing values, incorrect data types, incompatible units of measure, or incorrect variable encodings. So the data must be cleaned first to be in a format suitable for analysis. The term data munging is derived from the old computer jargon mung, which is an acronym for mash until no good, which is essentially the opposite of what we're doing when we're munging data. So while I'm personally not a huge fan of the term data munging, it appears to be the term most common in the industry for this process of transforming and cleaning data. Other terms that I've heard in the industry are data cleaning, data cleansing or data wrangling. When we're munging our data, we're typically doing several tasks including things like renaming variables, for example, correcting incorrect column names or removing invalid characters from column names. Data type conversion, for example, converting a character string to a numeric value or a numeric into an integer. Encoding, decoding or recoding values, for example, converting male and female to the letters m and f or vice versa. Merging data sets, for example, joining two tables of data based on a key that is shared between the two tables. Converting units, for example, converting mils to kilometers or scaling grams to kilograms. Handling missing data, for example imputing data, that is replacing missing values with substitute values. Handling anomalous data, for example, identifying and correcting statistical outliers created by data entry mistakes, and many more tasks. The first step in data munging is loading the data into R. Luckily for us, R supports a wide variety of data sources including file-based data, for example, comma separated values; tab delimited values, and Excel files. Web-based data, for example, XML, HTML, and JSON data. Databases, for example, SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL. Statistical data files, for example, SASS, SPSS, and Stata files, and many more. In fact, there are literally hundreds of data sources that R supports using downloadable extension packages. The second in data munging is transforming and cleaning our data. Unfortunately this step is often the most difficult and the most time consuming. So my recommendation is to record all steps using a script so that you can reapply those steps whenever they are needed, because it's inevitable that you'll be on step 50 of a data analysis and realize that you've made a mistake back in step

There are 8: boolean, byte, char, short, int, long, float and double. These types serve as the building blocks of data manipulation in Java. Such types serve only one purpose — containing pure, simple values of a kind. Because these data types are defined into the Java type system by default, they come with a number of operations predefined. You can not define a new operation for such primitive types. In the Java type system, there are three further categories of primitives: Numeric primitives: short, int, long, float and double. These primitive data types hold only numeric data. Operations associated with such data types are those of simple arithmetic (addition, subtraction, etc.) or of comparisons (is greater than, is equal to, etc.) Textual primitives: byte and char. These primitive data types hold characters (that can be Unicode alphabets or even numbers). DATA SCIENCE WITH R Module 3: Working with Data Introduction Hello again, and welcome to our next module on Data Science with R. In this module we'll learn how to work with data using R. As an overview of this module, first, we'll learn how to work with data using R. That is, we'll learn how to import, clean, transform, and export data. We'll also learn how R makes this process easier and more efficient than by using other tools. Then, we'll see a demonstration where we'll import, transform, and export data. The data transformation steps will be done using a very popular extension package in R called dplyr. So let's get started. Working with Data When we're working with data prior to performing a data analysis, there're typically four main steps we perform in R. These four steps are often necessary to transform our raw data into a form suitable for analysis. First, we need to import our raw data from one or more data sources into R. Next, we need to inspect and then clean our raw data so that we can work with it effectively and produce reliable results. Then we need to transform our clean data into a form suitable for the analysis we intend to perform. Finally, we often need to export our data into a different format so that it can be shared with others. You'll often hear these steps referred to as data munging, data wrangling, data cleaning, data cleansing, or ETL, that is, Extract, Transform, and Load, depending upon the context and the specific user community. All four steps may not always be necessary, but in general we'll typically use some combination of these four steps. Next, we'll take a look at each of these four steps and how R makes our job easier during each of these steps. The first step when working with data in R is to import our data into R. Luckily for us, R makes it very easy to import data from a wide variety of data sources. We can load data from file-based data sources, such as comma separated values, tab delimited values, and Excel files, web-based data sources, for example, XML, HTML and JSON data, databases, for example SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL, and statistical data files like SAS, SPSS, and Stata files, and there's many more. In fact, there are literally hundreds of data sources that R supports using downloadable extension packages. In addition, R is very flexible in the way that it can load data, which allows it to handle a wide variety of data scenarios. The second step when we work with data in R is to clean our raw data so that we can work with them effectively and ensure that they'll provide reliable results. This step is often necessary, because most raw data are not typically stored in a format suitable for analysis. In addition, many raw-data sources contain errors and anomalies that need to be corrected in order for our analysis to produce reliable results. There are many tasks typically involved in the process of cleaning data. Some of these tasks include reshaping data so that we have a table of data with each variable stored as a column and one observation per row; renaming columns so that we have accurate and human readable column names; converting data types from one data type to another, that is, converting between logical value, integers, numerics, character strings, dates, times, and factors; ensuring that all data types are properly encoded, for example converting the letters m and f to the categories male and female, respectively; ensuring all data are internally consistent by converting to the same unit of measure, the same numeric scale, and using the same internal format for numbers, dates, and times; handling both errors in our data, and correcting outliers, for example, values that were incorrectly typed into a computer by hand, or were the result of a sensor misreading, and handling missing values, either by omitting the entire row, or imputing a suitable replacement value. R has a series of built-in tools and extension packages that make cleaning our data significantly easier than by using alternative methods or by cleaning the data by hand. We have a wide variety of built-in functions in the base packages in R; that is, the packages that are part of the initial R installation. These functions include functionality for handling many of the data cleaning tasks that we just discussed and more. In addition, we have several extension packages, that is, packages that are not part of the base installation that must be downloaded and installed, designed to help with more specific data-cleaning tasks. For example, when we have extension packages like tidyr, which is focused specifically on tidying data; that is, reshaping data from a variety of non-standard formats to a standard tabular data format referred to a tidy data; that is, we have all variables on the columns and one row for each observation.

We can manage DB engine configuration through the parameters in a DB parameter group. A default DB parameter group is created while creating new DB instance. We cannot modify the parameter settings of a default DB parameter group directly. If we want to edit any existing parameter value then we must create new custom DB parameter group rather than default group. Once you create custom DB parameter group, it will show you all the parameters in list and details like which parameters are editable, default value and parameter type for example dynamic or static. Some important points about DB parameter group: When we edit a dynamic parameter and save, the change is applied immediately regardless of the Apply Immediately setting. When we edit a static parameter and save, the parameter change will take effect after you manually reboot the DB instance. When we change the DB parameter group associated with a DB instance, you must manually reboot the instance before the new custom DB parameter group is used by the DB instance. The parameter value can be specified as an integer or as an integer expression built from formulas, variables, functions & operators. Note: Improperly setting parameters in a DB parameter group can have unintended adverse effects, including degraded performance and system instability. You should try out parameter group setting changes on a test DB instance before applying those parameter group changes to a production DB instance. Steps To Edit my.ini Parameters Of an Amazon RDS Instance: 1: Sign in to your AWS Management Console and search "RDS" in "AWS Service" search box. 2: Once you find RDS service, Open that Amazon RDS console page. 3: On left side panel click on "Instances" menu, then click on your "DB instance" 4: Click on "Parameter groups" menu from left panel then click on "Create parameter group" button 5: Select "Parameter group family" as per your default parameter group,in my case I will select "mysql5.6" 6: Enter new "Group name" like custom-test-group 7: Enter Description for the DB parameter group 8: Then click on "Create" button, it will create new custom Parameter group. 9: Now click "Parameter groups" menu from left panel again, it will list new recently created parameter group 10: Click on that new custom parameter group, You will see "Parameters" filter option. 11: Search for parameter you want to update the value like "wait_timeout" and click on "Edit parameters" button 12: You can add value from range mention in "Allowed values" column of that parameter. like 1-31536000 for "wait_timeout" parameter. 13: Once you done with changes, click on "Save Changes" button, It will save all recent parameter changes. 14: After this we need to associate this new custom parameter group to our DB Instance. 15: On left side panel click on "Instances" menu again, then click on your "DB instance". On the right top corner click on "Instance Action" drop-down then click on "Modify" menu. 16: You will see "Modify DB Instance" page, Now scroll down and go to "Database options" section and select newly created custom parameter group from "DB parameter group" dropbox. 17: Click on "Continue" button, It will take some time to apply new parameter group. 18: Once done Step 17, Again On left side panel click on "Instances" menu, then click on your "DB instance". Unary And Member Accessing C# provides many operators, which are symbols that specify which operations (math, indexing, function call, etc.) to perform in an expression. You can overload many operators to change their meaning when applied to a user-defined type. Operations on integral types (such as ==, !=, &, |) are generally allowed on enumeration (enum) types. The sections below list the C# operators starting with the highest precedence to the lowest. The operators within each section share the same precedence level. Arithmetic Overflow The arithmetic operators (+, -, *, /) can produce results that are outside the range of possible values for the numeric type involved. You should refer to the section on a particular operator for details, but in general: • Integer arithmetic overflow either throws an OverflowException or discards the most significant bits of the result. Integer division by zero always throws a DivideByZeroException. When integer overflow occurs, what happens depends on the execution context, which can be checked or unchecked. In a checked context, an OverflowException is thrown. In an unchecked context, the most significant bits of the result are discarded and execution continues. Thus, C# gives you the choice of handling or ignoring overflow. By default, arithmetic operations occur in an unchecked context. In addition to the arithmetic operations, integral-type to integral-type casts can cause overflow (such as when you cast a long to an int), and are subject to checked or unchecked execution.
