Dataflows and data interop with the Common Data Model - BRK4013
The Common Data Model (CDM) is the standardized metadata definition language used by business and analytics applications to provide semantic consistency and facilitate data interoperability. CDM provides uniform data & semantics over a variety of areas. CDM brings the semantic consistency to Azure Data Lake with CDM folders allowing organizations to leverage AI and ML at a scale not previously achievable. Dataflows enable ingestion of data into Azure Data Lake Storage from a wide range of data sources, including the ability to transform data, enrich it and map it to CDM schemas. We will provide deeper insight into the concepts & components of the CDM metadata system, as well as a step-by-step demo of landing data into ADLS using dataflows.

6 - Database Modelling and Tools
In this part, we will discuss the tools that we can use in designing our database. We will also create a database schema of our catalog project. I normally use SQL Power Architect when I’m designing a database schema of a project from scratch. I include the primary as well as the foreign keys but not the rest of the columns since for now, I’m only after about the relationship of the tables with each other. [show the sql power architect] Again, here’s our schema. Really there’s nothing trivial here. Let’s create the java classes accordingly. When dealing with business entities like category, product, dealer, dealer group, etc we normally assign a unique identifier to them. Let’s call that code and let’s also add a description. At the very least, we now have 2 common fields within a subset of the entity classes and note that we have the primary key id too. [show businessEntity class] We can refactor code and description as an abstract base class. Let’s name it BusinessEntity. And we could go further like creating abstract EnableEntity which as the name implies, lets us enable and disable an entity. AuditableEntity, which has an embeddable field Auditable that contains the author and date when an entity is created or updated. And finally, the BaseEntity which contains the autogenerated id of UUID type. [show enable, auditable and base entity classes] Let’s take a look at the entity classes and compared it to our schema diagram.

Context & Data Flow Diagram Request: Amazon
Amazon is one of the biggest businesses in the world and a pioneer in the area of e-commerce. Amazon started as one of the first major online shopping sites, where people from across the world could go online and search their catalogue, purchasing items which would then be delivered to there door wherever in the world that might have been. Amazon has expanded into the areas of digital products and streaming services and continues to be a powerhouse in the global market Today we will look at Amazons traditional online business of selling physical products online within the contexts of depot, finance and products.
Module 2. Episode 5. Hierarchical data
1C Junior Developer training course Module 2. Main Metadata Classes Link to the training course: https://support.1ci.com/hc/en-us/articles/360021920154-Welcome-to-the-1C-Junior-Developer-training-course There are many things you can use references for. One of those things is building hierarchical data structures. This is what we will be talking about in this episode. So, what the hierarchy is? Hierarchy is when a bunch of data items are in one-to-many relationships with each other so that they form a kind of tree-like structure. Every data item in a hierarchy can have any number of children and one (and only one) parent. Parents do not remember who their children are, meaning they do not store the children references list or something. Instead, each child remembers its parent - stores its reference. Are there any hierarchies in our application already? Of course. Let's take the Brands and Products catalogs relationships. Each Product belongs to a single Brand. Let's ask the Platform to find all references to the Coca-Cola brand, and here we go: tree-like structure, single parent, many kids - textbook example. This hierarchy is built using a regular attribute of a reference type. Very flexible, but requires some maintenance in terms of referential integrity, as you might remember from the last episode. Besides that, the Platform supports a number of standard hierarchies, each of which is aimed at one specific task. All of these built-in hierarchies support automatic referential integrity maintenance, so it makes them even easier to work with. These built-in hierarchies are the internal data object hierarchy, the ownership hierarchy, the folder-item hierarchy and the item-item hierarchy. Let's start with the first one: the internal data object hierarchy. We use this type of hierarchy to store additional tabular information inside of a data object. Here is a textbook example of this approach: Sales documents storing the list of products sold. Each document can have any number of records in this table, and each record of the table belongs to a single document. To implement this kind of hierarchy, we use tabular sections. Every catalog and every document can have as many of them as it needs. The thing about tabular sections is that they live inside of the data object. Well, physically, they live in different tables in the database, of course. But the Platform treats them as if they were an integral part of the object they belong to. And any object for the Platform is an atomic, indivisible entity. The Platform reads and writes each object as a whole. So there is no way, for example, of somehow inserting a new product into this Sales document. We need to read the entire document first, then add a new line, and then write the entire document back to the infobase. Another effect of the object's atomicity is that we cannot refer to any part of it from another object. Including any of these records. They are not objects, and they don't have a unique Ref attribute. So, we can refer only to the object as a whole. This atomicity thing really narrows down what we can use this type of hierarchy for. Mostly, we use it for the lists inside of the documents. Sometimes we might use it to store some additional tabular information in catalog objects, but this doesn't work out all the time. For example, there is no way we can use it for Brands - Products pair, because if Products is not a separate catalog, but a tabular section inside of the Brands catalog, we cannot refer to the Products anymore. OK, next one: the ownership hierarchy. Catalogs can be owned by other catalogs. When one catalog owns another one, it means that the subordinate catalog's items make no sense without the owner item. A good example of this type of relationship is a Company - Agreement pair. Let's say, I want to keep track of my contractual obligations to my product suppliers. And, more importantly, keep track of their obligations to me. So, I'm going to create the Companies catalog first. I'm going to use the Description standard attribute to store the company name; I also need to know the business number and two addresses - the official and the physical ones. Now I'm going to create the Agreements catalog and here is the thing. I need each agreement to belong to one specific company, right? So I could add a Company attribute and make it point at the Companies catalog like this. But the Agreement doesn't make much sense without the Company it was signed with. So, I'll need to write some code to make sure there are no Agreements without Companies, and when the Company is deleted, all its Agreements get deleted along with it. It's all doable, no problem, but I'd rather add a Company catalog as an Owner of the Agreement catalog just like this. What happens at this moment is that another standard attribute called Owner appears here in the list.

Display Product Data - A TimCo Retail Manager Video
Getting data from the database, through the API, and to the WPF view - that's the goal of this video. Think of this as an end-to-end look at moving data. We will start with updating the table, then move on to adding a stored procedure. After that, we will add the mode, set up data access, and add a new API endpoint with security. That gets us half way. Then on the front-end side, we will configure dependency injection, add an API call, pass in our bearer token, read back a model and map it to our front-end model, and finally display it properly on the view. You can watch each video on its own or you can watch them in order and see a bigger picture. The choice is yours. This course focuses on real-world development. As such, we are simulating that we work for TimCo Enterprise Solutions on a brand new product, the TimCo Retail Manager. Just like in the real world, we are starting out with one set of requirements but know that over time they will change.

Wildcard Indexes in MongoDB 4.2 (MongoDB World 2019 Keynote, part 3)
CTO Eliot Horowitz introduces Wildcard Indexes, followed by a demonstration by Principle Product Manager Asya Kamsky. One of the document model's greatest strengths is its ability to easily model rich heterogenous data, wherein records share some fields, but have high variability across others. Inventory items in a product catalogue will all have a title and price, for example, but a digital camera will have a megapixels attribute, while a pair of sneakers will have size and color. Until now, developers have had to compromise between the need to index these records by their attributes, and the desire to model them in the most natural way. Wildcard Indexes, new in MongoDB 4.2, allow developers to simply declare indexes on an entire keypath in a document, letting them model these records exactly the way that is most natural without compromising on the needs to index all of the attributes. https://www.mongodb.com/new

Using artificial intelligence to augment data
Tailwind Traders is constantly updating its catalog with new products from around the world. Adding contextual information for those products (tags, categories, collections, etc.) is a daunting task which can take a single person a very long time to enter into our system, with results that are error prone. In this session we’ll show you how we use Cognitive Services with Microsoft Azure, which uses artificial intelligence to “read” images and textual descriptions of our new products and then apply an initial set of tags, categories and collections according to a prebuilt model.
The New Data Journey; Automated Data Governance
There are increasing global regulations that govern what data companies may keep, dictate how they can use it, and mandate under which circumstances they may keep it, or must get rid of it. From HIPAA to GLBA to GDPR and now, CCPA, these privacy regulations are forcing firms worldwide to re-examine the policies and processes they deploy to keep track of the information they have, where it resides and how it is being used. Existing methods are no longer enough, according to the analyst community. And in the next of the ongoing series of live webinars sponsored by Io-Tahoe, a pioneer in smart data discovery and AI-driven data catalog products, noted industry analyst Krish Krishnan will explore this trend and the emerging concept of “ambient data governance.” The Io-Tahoe webinar will focus on the push towards ambient data governance and why it matters more than ever in the age of stringent privacy regulations, such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and more. In this webinar, Krishnan will address these critical issues, especially: • The importance of automating the data governance capability within firms • Leveraging data governance to deliver effective insights from all the data within the enterprise • Data Governance with AI/ML capabilities and its utilization to deliver privacy and compliance including GDPR, CCPA and more. Entitled "Online grocery shopping growth stalls amid consumer frustration" QUOTE In 2018, just 45% of consumers said they did grocery shopping online, 4% down [from] 2016, according to research from analysts Mintel. "Mintel/City A.M." that's anemic growth, that's a slow downwards drift The research involved surveying 2,000 internet users, found 63 percent of them had an issue with an order in the past year... Walmart grocery is the No-1 Walmart online e-grocery store of USA - their motto is 'like your neighborhood Walmart store' and that's part of the problem - it needs to free itself from being a brick and mortar extension as it won't be profitable that way - Costco, Amazon Pantry, Kmart, Freshdirect, I like the online grocery model. before we get into the numbers let me briefly talk about my own experience. I used FreshDirect 20 years ago and loved it. I had a shopping list saved, burly guys would carry the stuff once a week all the way to our kitchen and it wasn't much more expensive than going to a supermarket in person. These models are attractive mostly in urban environments where delivery can be optimized, the distances aren't too far in-between, and the population is busy, professional, and can afford it. Places like NYC, SF. Countries like South Korea where the model works really well apparently. Even FreshDirect that spent more than 10 years just focusing on NY has struggled to grow and expand. Eventually they nailed and that is what is very interesing here. Pumping Station Design with BIM for Plant Solutions
With the BIM tools found in the AEC Collection, you can address all aspects of Water/Wastewater design. This short video is an example of how you can use those tools on a greenfield pump station project. Author Name: Andy Manze - https://www.linkedin.com/in/andrew-ma... Products used: AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit, Navisworks, InfraWorks Follow us on Twitter: @AutodeskCivil3D Follow us on Facebook: https://autode.sk/2V66NZH Subscribe to the Blog to stay up to date: https://autode.sk/2BZSjUt -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Script: The new facility is created in Revit and will house the pump and treatment equipment. AutoCAD Plant 3D is used to define the process requirements for the water facility and will use AutoCAD features to define the process database behind the schematic drawing as the drawing is being created and edited. Producing error-free reports such as equipment and line lists then becomes an easy task. The piping model is the 3D representation of the P&ID and the data can be accessed while we are creating the piping. Lines and components are selected from the P&ID line list. Selecting the line transfers the P&ID data and also accesses the piping spec and catalog to place the correct valve along with its mating flanges. Once the equipment has been modeled, we can combine the plant 3d model with the Revit building to enable the creation of the piping support steelwork with the aid of fully automatic steelwork connections. A federated Navisworks model can then be created to detect and manage clashes between the pipework and supporting steelwork as well as the remaining structure and services. Introduction to the MVP Design Pattern on Android - Kotlin 1.2, Android 4.4+ - raywenderlich.com
Learn about the need for architecture patterns like MVP and define the components of an MVP-based app. About the Course: In this course, you will learn how to build an Android app using the Model-View-Presenter presentation architecture pattern. Watch the Full Course here: https://www.raywenderlich.com/9216-mvp-on-android --- About www.raywenderlich.com: raywenderlich.com is a website focused on developing high-quality programming tutorials. Our goal is to take the coolest and most challenging topics and make them easy for everyone to learn – so we can all make amazing apps. We are also focused on developing a strong community. Our goal is to help each other reach our dreams through friendship and cooperation. As you can see below, a bunch of us have joined forces to make this happen: authors, editors, subject matter experts, app reviewers, and most importantly our amazing readers! --- About MVP (from Wikipedia): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model%E2%80%93view%E2%80%93presenter Model–view–presenter (MVP) is a derivation of the model–view–controller (MVC) architectural pattern, and is used mostly for building user interfaces. In MVP, the presenter assumes the functionality of the "middle-man". In MVP, all presentation logic is pushed to the presenter. The model-view-presenter software pattern originated in the early 1990s at Taligent, a joint venture of Apple, IBM, and Hewlett-Packard. MVP is the underlying programming model for application development in Taligent's C++-based CommonPoint environment. The pattern was later migrated by Taligent to Java and popularized in a paper by Taligent CTO Mike Potel. After Taligent's discontinuation in 1998, Andy Bower and Blair McGlashan of Dolphin Smalltalk adapted the MVP pattern to form the basis for their Smalltalk user interface framework. In 2006, Microsoft began incorporating MVP into its documentation and examples for user interface programming in the .NET framework. The evolution and multiple variants of the MVP pattern, including the relationship of MVP to other design patterns such as MVC, is discussed in detail in an article by Martin Fowler and another by Derek Greer MVP is a user interface architectural pattern engineered to facilitate automated unit testing and improve the separation of concerns in presentation logic: The model is an interface defining the data to be displayed or otherwise acted upon in the user interface. The view is a passive interface that displays data (the model) and routes user commands (events) to the presenter to act upon that data. The presenter acts upon the model and the view. It retrieves data from repositories (the model), and formats it for display in the view. Normally, the view implementation instantiates the concrete presenter object, providing a reference to itself. The degree of logic permitted in the view varies among different implementations. At one extreme, the view is entirely passive, forwarding all interaction operations to the presenter. In this formulation, when a user triggers an event method of the view, it does nothing but invoke a method of the presenter that has no parameters and no return value. The presenter then retrieves data from the view through methods defined by the view interface. Finally, the presenter operates on the model and updates the view with the results of the operation. Other versions of model-view-presenter allow some latitude with respect to which class handles a particular interaction, event, or command. This is often more suitable for web-based architectures, where the view, which executes on a client's browser, may be the best place to handle a particular interaction or command. From a layering point of view, the presenter class might be considered as belonging to the application layer in a multilayered architecture system, but it can also be seen as a presenter layer of its own between the application layer and the user interface layer.

Brother ScanNCut Tutorial - Scan to Cut Data - Make Large Bunnies - Bunny Builder Punch
In this tutorial, you will learn how to enlarge shapes you punch out using the Brother ScanNCut. The model of Scan and Cut used for this tutorial is the CM350 or ScanNCut2. I used the Bunny Builder Punch by Stampin' Up! to punch out shapes out of Whisper White card stock. Then, I took those shapes and adhered them onto black cardstock for contrast. Then, I scanned them in using Scan to Cut Data. I selected the first option which was to select the outer lines of the shapes. Then, after selecting just the part of the screen with the bunny parts, I scanned it in. I saved the small bunny parts onto the machine. Then, I deleted the pattern from the machine and went back to the Home screen. There, I selected Pattern, Saved Data and retrieved the file. I demonstrated how to group, resize and rotate the shapes so that you can fit two large bunnies on a piece of Powder Pink cardstock. Width of Grouped Bunny Parts = 6" Blade Depth = 5 After cutting out the bunny parts, I showed how to use Soft Sea Foam and a sponge dauber to ink around the edges of the bunny for dimension. Then, I showed a finished project and compared that to an original size bunny made from the Bunny Builder Punch. The Policy Simulation Library DC meeting: Tax-Calculator model demo | LIVE STREAM
Join us for the Policy Simulation Library DC meeting hosted by AEI’s Open Source Policy Center to learn how computational simulation models are used to inform public policy decision-making. After updates from the community about various open-source projects, Martin Holmer, president and senior economist at the Policy Simulation Group, will discuss Tax-Calculator. Tax-Calculator is a microsimulation model of the US federal individual income and payroll tax system used to estimate aggregate revenue and distribution effects of tax reforms. Tax-Calculator has supported many prominent users, including administrations from both parties, lawmakers, newspapers, and academic researchers. Tax-Calculator is written in Python. Tax-Calculator recently joined the PSL Catalog, an open-source software library of public policy models. Everyone is welcome to the PSL DC meeting regardless of technical knowledge or experience, although please expect modeling code and results to be presented.
