How To Fix The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Catalog Is Too New Error Message

02:33
(FREE TUTORIAL) How To Fix The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Catalog Is Too New Error Message A number of the photographers that I assist in private one-on-one Adobe Photoshop Lightroom technical support sessions have been reporting a similar error message lately. Each of these clients reports receiving an error message that says that their Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Catalog "cannot be opened because it is too new to be used by this version of Lightroom." Usually this error message appears a few day after installing a Photoshop Lightroom update or upgrading from an older version of the Lightroom application. Fortunately, there is a quick and easy solution to this problem. If you encounter this error message on startup then all that you need to do is to tell your computer to open this Lightroom Catalog (your .lrcat file) using the most recently installed version of the Lightroom Application. In the Mac world, this is best done by right-clicking on your .lrcat file and using the Open With command. Windows users will find the same command with a right-click although so far I have mostly seen this error on computer's running the Mac operating system. ------------ Learn Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, Adobe Lightroom for Mobile, Snapseed from Google, and more with our complete video training courses at http://www.focusphotoschool.com. Understanding the Lightroom Catalog System

08:00
Article Link: http://www.slrlounge.com/school/understanding-the-lightroom-catalog-system The Lightroom catalog is simply a container, or even better, a database of information that applies to the images contained within. What you are actually seeing in the Lightroom catalog are not the images themselves, but rather preview renderings of those images with whatever develop settings you have applied. Deleting a Lightroom catalog does not mean that you are deleting the images, but rather just the catalog information on ratings, keywords, develop settings, etc. Also, moving a Lightroom catalog file doesn't move the images along with it. For this reason, it is important to have a good organizational system for your Lightroom catalogs and the images therein. From here on out in this tutorial series, we want you all to work along with us. So, you can either load up your own working files, or you can download the exact working files that we will be using. In the next video, we will start by creating our catalog, then importing and working on our images. First, rename that main catalog (let's call it Old Catalog for now). Go to your last dated backup folder and select your catalog, Copy it, then go to to your main catalog folder where your catalog usually is. Paste your copy of the backup catalog into the main catalog folder. Now double click on that catalog. You've now restored your lightroom backup
How To Save Your Work in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom

21:05
(FREE TUTORIAL) How To Save Your Work in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Adobe Photoshop Lightroom lets you decide when to save your work. Unlike most other programs, Lightroom gives you three choices over when your work gets saved. 1. You can choose to store your work only at the Lightroom Catalog level. 2. You can choose to save your hard work within your actual images when you manually trigger the *Save Metadata to File Command* and still keep a copy of your work within your Lightroom Catalog (.lrcat) file. 3. You can set Adobe Photoshop Lightroom so that all of your work is automatically, and continuously, saved for you into your image files and also stored within your Lightroom Catalog (.lrcat) file by turning on the *Automatically Write Changes Into XMP* Catalog Settings preference switch. Which option you choose matters. If you are new to this program then I strongly recommend turning on the *Automatically Write Changes Into XMP* option. The Automatically Write Changes into XMP option should have been labeled "Auto-Save." If you turn this option ON then all of your metadata, including your Develop Module changes, will be automatically written into your images. Think of this as if it were a constant "save my work right now" option! If you do not turn this switch on then your Metadata, including your Develop Module improvements, will not be pressed into your image files until you manually invoke some variety of the elusive “Save Metadata to File” button. Failure to save your changes down to the file level will cause you enormous problems if your Lightroom Catalog ever gets corrupted or destroyed and you do not have a robust backup system. ------------ Learn Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, Adobe Lightroom for Mobile, Snapseed from Google, and more with our complete video training courses at http://www.focusphotoschool.com. Lightroom Quick Tips - Episode 5: Move Lightroom Library to an External Drive

04:17
This is the fifth episode of a new series where I give a single, quick Lightroom tip. Often, when we begin to use Lightroom we have our Lightroom Library on the local drive of our computer. Before long, it may swell with thousands of images and take up too much space. In this video I show how you can easily move your entire Lightroom Library to an external hard drive and preserve all the edits that you've previously done. This and future episodes of Lightroom Quick Tips can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLllFqBuTM0WKbLVgOzP0Rz_QlFMRe7Fax This video is brought to you courtesy of http://www.AnthonyMorganti.com

00:36
Follow this step by step guide to learn how to move Lightroom catalog to another drive. Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ To move a lightroom catalog to another drive, create a new root-level folder on the new hard drive. Close down Lightroom, then copy all the folders from the old drive into the new root-level folder on the new hard drive. Start Lightroom Then in turn right-click on each of the folders on the old and select "Update Folder Location".... This will pop up a file browser, use this to browse to and select the corresponding folder on the new hard drive and click OK. This will relink the catalog to the new hard drive.
