Wai Lana Website https://www.wailana.com https://www.youtube.com/wailanayoga Both Hindu and Greek mythology are centered around three main Gods that are the designated leaders. Just like we have our Vishnu, Brahma and Shiva, they have Zeus, Hades and Poseidon who respectively rule the heavens, the underworld and the seas. Curiously, Indra, the Hindu king of the Gods, is but a caricature and is often depicted in stories as vengeful and petulant. Zeus, in contrast, is all-powerful and feared by all his subjects. Check out these top unexplained mysteries of the deep ocean. From strange sounds captured in the deep sea by hydrophones such as the bloop, the train, and julia, to gigantic whirlpools, biggest underwater falls and the milky bioluminescent sea phenomenon. Are deep sea monsters living deep in the ocean? Underwater Falls Voted one of the most beautiful places on Earth, Mauritius is an island nation in the Indian Ocean. On the Southwestern tip of the island you will find a fascinating illusion. When viewed from above, a runoff of sand and silt deposits creates the impression of an ‘underwater waterfall’. But did you know there are actually real underwater waterfalls? Seven waterfalls have been discovered deep underwater. The tallest waterfall on Earth is not Angel Falls, but an underwater waterfall called Denmark Strait Cataract located in the Atlantic ocean between Greenland and Iceland. It is the world's highest underwater waterfall, with water falling almost 11,500 feet and carries 175 million cubic feet of water per second. It is caused due to temperature differences in the water on either side of the strait. Cold water is denser than warm water. And the eastern side of the strait is a lot colder than the western side. So when the waters meet, the cold water sinks below the warmer water, creating a strong downward flow, which is considered a waterfall. And it's not just waterfalls that are under the ocean. There are huge secret rivers, complete with rapids and islands that flow down the sea shelves out into the desert plains creating river banks and flood plains. Here's a picture of the river Cenote Angelita under the sea of Mexico. These salty rivers carry sediments and minerals and could be vital in sustaining life. The world's sixth largest river, by volume, is below the Black Sea. It is 350 times larger than the Thames and 150 feet deep in places. 8. Milky Sea Phenomenon For over 400 years, sailors told tales of a mysterious event that takes place far out in the Indian Ocean. They would come across miles and miles of milky glowing waters, sometimes stretching as far as the eye could see. In 2005, a group of scientists led by Dr. Steven Miller of the Naval Research Laboratory in Monterey, Calif., decided to take a closer look at this story to see if it was true. They managed to register about 235 observations and get a satellite image that showed an area of low lighting in the Indian Ocean about the size of Connecticut. Their samples that they collected indicated the presence of a type of bioluminescent bacteria in the water, known as Vibrio harveyi. This isn't the same kind of bacteria that you might see in waves that use their bright light to ward off predators. This bioluminescent bacteria may actually use light to attract fish, since its favorite place to live is inside a fish's gut. Scientists' guess is that since they only emit a very faint light on their own, they have to gather together to make an impact. Their collective glow can grow to massive, milky sea proportions when their numbers swell to a huge amount -- think 40 billion trillion. They may also congregate to colonize algae. Sounds like a party! It is still only a guess since Dr. Miller and his colleagues haven't determined exactly what causes the bacteria to gather. 7. Unexplained sounds Of course dark, creepy fog can make you jump at anything that goes bump in the night. But what about things that go "bloop" in the sea? With names like "The Bloop," "Train" and "Julia," the sounds have been captured by hydrophones, or underwater microphones, monitored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The decidedly nonspooky nicknames for these sounds do little to dispel the mystery surrounding them. In 1997, NOAA hydrophones 3,000 miles apart picked up one of the loudest sounds ever recorded off the southern coast of South America: the Bloop (which sounds exactly like its name, a bloop). The Bloop mimics marine animal sounds in some ways, but if it were some kind of sea creature it would have to be almost the size of the Eiffel tower for that sound to be heard from 3,000 miles away. So what made the sound? It's anyone's guess but deep-sea monsters aside, NOAA holds the most likely explanation for The Bloop is that it was the sound of a large iceberg fracturing. Sure.... Another weird noise known as Julia sounds almost like someone whining or maybe even singing under water. The eastern equatorial Pacific autonomous array (the fancy name for the network of hydrophones) picked up this strange sound that lasted 15 seconds in 1999.

Here is the top list of mysterious sunken underwater cities in the world found underwater! Yonaguni Pyramids In the mid 80s, Divers found underwater rock terraces and pyramids off the coast of Yonaguni Jima. Yonaguni Jima is an island that lies near the southern tip of Japan's Ryukyu archipelago, About 75 miles off the eastern coast of Taiwan. At first scientists believed they might be natural formations, but There are quarry marks and some writing on the stones and animal statues that have also been found underwater. Now some experts believe that The structures Could be what is left of the mythical city of Mu, a fabled Pacific civilization rumored to have vanished beneath the waves. Masaki Kimura, a marine geologist from the University of Japan, Has been studying the underwater pyramids for over 15 years. The underwater structures include castle ruins, a triumphal arch, five temples and at least one large stadium, all of which are Connected by roads and water channels and are partly shielded by what could be huge retaining walls. Kimura believes the ruins date back to at least 5,000 years, based on the dates of stalactites found inside underwater caves that he says sank with the city. The theory is that the ancient underwater city Might have been sunk by an earthquake or tsunami around 2,000 years ago. Yonaguni invites tourists and researchers to dive freely around the site. 2. Sunken City of Cuba In 2001, A company called Advanced Digital Communications (ADC) was working with Fidel Castro's government to explore Cuban waters looking for sunken Spanish ships loaded with treasure. Their Sonar equipment picked up a series of geometrical structures lying on the bottom of the ocean. Here's a computer generated image of the pyramids and other structures found underwater. The structures and design made it look like there was A gigantic underwater city at the bottom of the Bermuda Triangle. The media went crazy claiming that Atlantis had been discovered in Cuba. There are local legends of the Maya and native Yucatecos that tell of an Island inhabited by their ancestors that vanished beneath the waves. If it's true the structures were made by an ancient civilization, they would have been the Most technologically advanced structures on the planet at that time. Scientists estimate that they would have been built about 50,000 years ago which doesn't seem very likely. The numerous structures and cities that have been discovered underwater around the world Lie less than 120 meters (or 395 feet) below sea level, which comes as no surprise since the sea level never fell below this mark during the time Homo sapiens walked the earth. This Cuban city, if we can call it that, is the Only exception since It is submerged over 700 meters (2300 feet) underwater. If the large structures are actually pyramids, 2 of them are Even larger than the pyramids of Giza and Cheops in Egypt. As of yet there is no plausible explanation for the existence of this city and ADC is still trying to investigate the site. 3. Lake Titicaca Lake Titicaca is Located in the Andes between Bolivia and Peru. It is the largest freshwater lake in South America and was the cradle of Peru's ancient civilizations, including the Inca. Their presence can be seen on Lake Titicaca by the ruins they left behind, including A mysterious underwater temple thought to be between 1,000 and 1,500 years old. In the Incan creation myth, The god Con Tiqui Viracocha emerged from Lake Titicaca. After commanding the sun, moon, and the stars to rise, Viracocha created more human beings from stone. After bringing them to life, Viracocha Commanded them to go and populate the world. The Incas therefore believed that Lake Titicaca was their place of origin, and that upon death, Their spirits would return to this lake. Archeologists located a huge temple in 2000 after following a submerged road (and I'm sure following advice from locals). After 18 days of diving below the clear waters of Titicaca, scientists said they had Discovered a 660-foot long, 160-foot wide temple, a terrace for crops, and a 2,600-foot containing wall along with gold and statues. It is said the lost city was Covered with sediment during a great flood of biblical proportions and local people had passed down the stories of the underwater temple and flood from generation to generation.

The Myth of the Sultans in the Western Indian Ocean during the Nineteenth Century: A New Hypothesis by Nicolini, Beatrice http://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/brill/afas/2009/00000008/00000003/art00005 "The power of the Al Bu Sa'id Sultans of Oman was widely known as based on delicate balances of forces (and ethnic-social groups), deeply different among them. In fact, the elements that composed the nineteenth century Omani leadership were, and had always been, generally 'divided' amongst three different ethnic groups: the Baluch, the Asian merchant communities and the African regional leaders (Mwiny Mkuu). Within this framework, the role played by European Powers, particularly by the Treaties signed between the Sultans of Oman and the East India Company for abolishing slavery, and by the arms trade was crucial for the development of the Gulf and the Western Indian Ocean international networks They highly contributed to the gradual 'shifting' of the Omanis from the slave trade to clove and spice cultivation - the major economic source of Zanzibar Island - along the coastal area of Sub-Saharan East Africa. The role played by the Omani Sultans - the myth - within the western traditional historiography, which often described them as firmly controlling both the Arabian and African littorals and the major trading ports of the Western Indian Ocean during the nineteenth century, will be reexamined in this paper, taking into account recent research studies and international debates in the topic. The new hypothesis consists of a different perception of the concepts of power and control (political and territorial) of the Western Indian Ocean littorals by the most famous of the Sultans of Oman during the nineteenth century: Saiyid Sa'id bin Sultan Al Bu Sa'id." "Unnatural and Ever Prejudicial: Racial and Colonial Hierarchies in 19th Century Zanzibar" By Dyer, Jeffery http://cua.wrlc.org/bitstream/1961/5523/1/etd_jwd35.pdf Electronic page bottom of 55 and 56 "The British government in India is said to have begun pressuring sultan Said to conclude an agreement limiting his involvement in the East African slave trade as early as 1812, though the first agreement signed between the two was not completed until 1822 when the Moresby Treaty committed the Sultan to refrain from participating in all external traffic in slaves and in particular the sale of slaves to any Christians. As a result of continued traffic in slaves from the island to the British and other territories in the north, the Hammerton Treaty was concluded in 1845, which agreed to end altogether the transport of slaves via the waters routes to any power Arab, Indian or European by the Sultan or his subjects. However, enforcement of the treaty again proved difficult for the British and the transport of slaves between the territories continued unbroken." Page 60 One sailor said that the sultan was "never was a man so falsely represented or so little understood as this petty Prince. In England we hear of his munificence, his power whereas he is merely upheld in the shadow of authority by the countenance of the English." Page electronic pages 61 and 62 on the Indians "A pamphlet on Englands policy in East African contends that the Indian population has silently taken possession of almost the entire trade on the East Coast of Africa and had made their influence felt, and in no case more successfully than in blinding people to the fact of their participation in the slave trade" "One source going as far as to suggest that if the natives of India who were connected with the slave trade (and they were the dregs of Indian society) ceased to have anything to do with it, slavery would soon come to an end." Chambers's encyclopaedia http://books.google.com/books?id=wGYMAAAAYAAJ&pg=RA1-PA803&dq=#v=onepage&q=&f=false "Although nominally under Portuguese rule, yet the authority of that government rarely extends outside of the walls of the miserable forts held by its agents. It is computed that on the whole of the Portuguese settlements on the east coast of Africa there are not more than 500 colonists of European birth. Trading-parties of Dutch Boers from the Transvaal Republic occasionally visit the factories at Imhambane, Sofala, and Lorenco Marquez, to purchase articles of European manufacture in exchange for ivory, wax, timber, &c. The natives, generally, are of the negro type, gradually approximating to the more intellectual Zulu Kaffir as we proceed from the Zambezi to Delagoa Bay."

His mother died when he was a little child. Since the boy had become motherless, his father treated him with more care and affection in his childhood. As he grew up he started quarrelling with his age group youngesters the father Venkanna sent him to Vizianagaram for his studies where he lived with his uncle who was serving there as an Inspector of Police. Ramamurthy Naidu, also known as Prof. Rammurty, was an Indian bodybuilder who earned enormous respect for India in the field of wrestling. Prof. Rammurty worked as Physical Education Teacher in the Branch College of Vizianagaram. He got profound knowledge in Vayu Stambhana (air resistance) and Jala Stambhana (water resistance). He was awarded with the title of Kaliyuga Bhima by the King George V of the United Kingdom. He established a Circus (company) and earned a lot of money but donated it to the charitable trusts and contributed a lot in the Indian independence movement. This great bodybuilder performed impressive feats like stopping a car at high acceleration, breaking iron chains and holding an elephant leg on his chest, as well as juggling elephant babies with weights attached to them. He also performed in France, Germany, Japan and Spain. King George and Queen Mary were impressed with his feats and gave him the title Indian Hercules after watching his display of physical strength at Buckingham Palace. He was the first Indian to be so honoured by the royal couple. When he put before them the historical facts of Bhima of Mahabharat and compared it with those of Greek Hercules and Prussian Sandow, the King awarded him another more prestigious title of Kaliyuga Bhima to him. Bullfighting in Spain When he was in Spain the Spanish people invited him to see the bullfighting. He went there, saw the fighting but he was not impressed. In order to show his muscle power, he entered the bullfighting ring, caught hold on a bull by its horns and threw it to the ground. Although he had no experience of fighting such bulls yet he dared to do and performed it successfully. A statue of him is erected on the Beach Road of Visakhapatnam. Another statue is also situated in his home town Veeraghattam and also in home district [SRIKAKULAM].A stadium is constructed on his name in Srikakulam. Cows can turn their food into 24-carat gold, there is a helmet on Mars which belongs to the days of the Mahabharata, autopsies were done in ancient India by leaving a body floating in water for 3 days, and then today all the talk of airplanes that could fly in all directions between planets in the Vedic Age. Claims that would be completely acceptable at a gathering of mythologists and rishis, but how on Earth did they make their way into the most prestigious science convention in the country? That's the question Indians are asking, as day two of the Indian Science Congress draws to a close. With three days left to go, and the presence of international Nobel laureates, are we going to make any headlines on science or will this congress be remembered only for its overtones of mythology? Nitten Nair is currently doing his Masters in Creativity and Innovation at the University of Malta. He also holds a post-graduate degree in Planning and Entrepreneurship, with specialisation in Marketing and Human Resources. He also has a degree in Catering Science and Hotel Management, and has work experience of over 4 years spread out in various industries and levels. Preferring to call himself a Masters student at the University of Life, he believes that a vivid imagination, an unbreakable resolve to survive and excel, a penchant for humour in daily life and the ability to day dream at will, has been the essence of his work so far. An Indian citizen born in Dubai, Nash did his early schooling in Dubai and later moved to India for his further education in 1999. He started his career in 2005 in the hospitality industry, working as a bartender at JW Marriott, Mumbai in India winning the Spirit to Serve Award from Marriott International, Washington DC in 2006. He then moved on to the fields of training, consulting, and even had a brief but productive stint in the real estate sector. In 2009, he was bitten by the entrepreneurial bug and started his own firm, Zephyr 2 Zenith Solutionz, and was very involved in the fields of Events Management, Hospitality Consulting, and Training and Development. There have been many innovations, discoveries and concepts today that can actually trace back to ancient Indian mythology. The new developments need not actually have been directly related or inspired by Indian mythology but the coincidences are uncanny. In his talk, Nitten will capture your imagination as he draws out a few of these aspects and relates them to our modern day world. Inspiration is everywhere, the ability to see it depends on a shift in perspective. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a programme called TEDx. TEDx is a programme of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxValletta, where x=independently organised TED event. At our TEDxValletta event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx programme, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organised.

According to the Mahabharata, after the war of Kurukshetra, before Bhishma decided to die, there was a discourse between Yudhishtir and Bhishma while the latter was on the bed of arrows. Among many questions asked by Yudhishtir, one was similar to what Zeus and Hera had. To this Bhishma is supposed to have related the story of Bhangashvana. Bhangashvana was an ancient king who was cursed to turn into a woman by Lord Indra. He was the only creature on earth to have experienced sex both as a man as well as a woman, and he also had the rare fortune to have some children call him father, while some called him mother. It is said that later when Lord Indra asked him if he would like to regain his masculine form, he is supposed to have declined the offer, on the grounds that he would prefer to live as a woman, mainly for the ability to enjoy sexual pleasure more.

Hello everyone, this is my attempt of recreating the makeup look of devi chamundda. we bengoli worship devi's maha kali rup. Song- A R Rehman's creation & composition name- Aigiri nandini Stotram. so this diwali this one is for you people.. Kali comes from the Sanskrit root word Kal which means time. There is nothing that escapes the all-consuming march of time. In Tibetan Buddhism Her counterpart is male with the name Kala. Mother Kali is the most misunderstood of the Hindu goddesses. The Encyclopedia Britannica is grossly mistaken in the following quote, "Major Hindu goddess whose iconography, cult, and mythology commonly associate her with death, sexuality, violence, and, paradoxically in some of her later historical appearances, motherly love." Of all the forms of Devi, She is the most compassionate because She provides moksha or liberation to Her children. She is the counterpart of Shiva the destroyer. They are the destroyers of unreality. The ego sees Mother Kali and trembles with fear because the ego sees in Her its own eventual demise. A person who is attached to his or her ego will not be receptive to Mother Kali and she will appear in a fearsome form. A mature soul who engages in spiritual practice to remove the illusion of the ego sees Mother Kali as very sweet, affectionate, and overflowing with incomprehensible love for Her children. Not many people know that it is also the home of a Neolithic site that poses more questions than answers. The ruins were discovered in 1954 on property owned by the politically prestigious Segni family and consist of a massive stone structure thought to have been used as an altar. It was built sometime between 4,000 and 3,650 BC by the Ozieri culture - or, perhaps, even an earlier civilization. 7. GOSECK CIRCLE Located on farmland in Goseck, Germany, the Goseck Circle is an early Neolithic structure known as a ring ditch, and is believed to be the oldest of the Circular Enclosures of the Central European Neolithic age. Radiocarbon dating shows that it was built by Europe’s first civilization sometime during the 49th-century BC and was used until the 47th-century BC, long before the societies of ancient Egypt or Mesopotamia existed, earning it the modern-day nickname of “German Stonehenge.” 6. BIMINI ROAD In the waters off the Bahamian island of North Bimini, there’s an underwater rock formation known as the Bimini Road, or the Bimini Wall. At first glance, the half-mile-long arrangement of rectangular and sub-rectangular limestone blocks appears to be man-made. There have been several theories about what the stretch of blocks actually is. Experts have speculated that it’s a road, a wall, a breakwater, or a pier from an ancient civilization. But if so, then which one?? 5. THE STONES AT GALILEE In the summer of 2003, an enormous structure was detected during a sonar survey of the southwestern portion of the Sea of Galilee, and divers were summoned to check it out. When they got a closer look, they observed a cone-shaped cairn, or a monument that was built by piling rocks on top of one another. The basalt structure measured about 32 feet high (10 m), with a diameter of 230 feet (70 m), making it taller than even the tallest stones at Stonehenge, and twice the diameter of the outer circle at the famous ruin site. 4. YONAGUNI MONUMENT The Yonaguni monument is a mysterious sandstone rock formation located on the seabed of the waters off Yonaguni, Japan. Whether the monument is man-made or natural has been a source of debate ever since its discovery in 1986 by a director from the Yonaguni-Cho Tourism Association named Kihachiro Aratake. 3. THE KINGDOM OF GREAT ZIMBABWE One of Africa’s oldest and most stunning archaeological sites, known as the Great Zimbabwe Ruins, was built 900 years ago and is home to a collection of massive stone complexes. The 1,800-acre site is located in southeastern Zimbabwe. Most of the buildings were made from granite using an advanced masonry technique called dry stonewalling. 2. HAL-SAFLIENI HYPOGEUM The Hal-Saflieni Hypogeum, or the “Hypogeum” for short, can be found in the modern-day Maltese town of Paola. In Greek, “Hypogeum” means “underground,” which is an appropriate name for this Neolithic subterranean temple and necropolis. The Hypogeum was actively used from 4,000 BC to 2,500 BC, making it the world’s oldest-known prehistoric underground temple. 1. THE STRUCTURE AT MACDONALD LAKE In 2005, divers working on a submarine project in Ontario’s Lake MacDonald discovered a bizarre assemblage of heavy stones that they initially assumed was a geological formation. At the bottom of the lake, an elongated rock weighing around 1,000 pounds (453 kg) sat on top of seven baseball-sized stones.
