INSTALLING ORACLE 12c DB WITH DBCA

06:43
This video shows how to install a non-cdb database using a file system with the 12c installer. To save space, the flash recovery area is reduced. You can use the menus to change this to suit your needs. The installation does not take advantage of multiplexing files on different areas of storage. However, you can do this later, moving controlfiles and log files onto different file systems to simulate real life DBA tasks.

How to log in to an Oracle Database - Answer Video - Database Tutorials 42 This video explains about how to log in to an Oracle database. This also explains about how to create an user and grant a role to that user. In this case, the role granted is 'dba'. The following things happen in this Oracle Database Tutorial. * We invoke SQLPLUS using the CMD utility which came with Windows 7 (Just click START in your Windows 7 and type CMD in the field which is immediately above the START button. A CMD window will open) * We also invoke SQLPLUS using the program group in which Oracle has been installed. * We also invoke Database Control * We then create a user. * And we assign a password to that user. * Using those (username and password) we are able to connect to the Oracle Database.

Blinking 11gR2 Oracle Universal Installer flaw demonstration

04:47
http://www.masterschema.com for more information... A response to Oracle Technology Network (OTN) Forum post http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=3767400 Full tutorials available on http://www.masterschema.com The latest release of Oracle Database came with an overhaul of the Oracle Universal Installer GUI. There is a strange interaction between gnome and the OUI (runInstaller) that causes the screen to flash uncontrollably and not resize properly when the screen resolution is 800x600 and gnome is configured as per defaults of RedHat Enterprise Linux and Oracle Enterprise Linux, which consumes a few pixels on top and bottom reducing overall screen space to under 600 pixels tall. Of course, Oracle explicitly states a minimum resolution of 1024x768, so this is really just a workaround for low-res installs to use TWM instead of gnome. This video was produced while sitting on a flight from YVR (Vancouver) to YOW (Ottawa), in seat 1A in J (Exec/First) class. I had food over my MacBook Pro, and it's a wonder the built-in microphone picked up anything. I demonstrate this via a VNC connection in response to a question posted on Oracle forums regarding using VNC to install. It is not VNC that is at fault; it is the lack of screen realestate that causes Oracle to blink and flash, and ultimately fail to visibly draw the "Next" button (although the ALT-N key combo still works)

How to create Database manually. Asuming that Oracle Software has been installed properly. check other videos if you haven't. Check the oracle contents and Oracle SID, other parameters in the bash_Profile. Step 1 of this video Pre-requisites are completed. Step 2:Go to the dbs directory. copy the file initSID.ora Modify the directories and names accordingly as shown in the video. Save the file Step 3: Create all the new directories using mkdir -p command. Verify the directory structure. Step 4: We need to create the database. Make sure there aren't any oracle processes. Careful that there are no oracle processes. Start the database in nomount state. Check the contents of the script. Prepare one script as such with your names and directories. Keeping higher values temporarily for speedy installation process. Control file reuse is a good option which helps in rerunning the scripts. Execute this file with @createdb. Sit back and db to be created. DB got created in 1min. Step 5: Creating internal views and giving privileges. Check and create other script with the information provided. Contents are not as customized to earlier one. You can simply copy and execute this. Once all these scripts are completed. You can check the objects and do basic checking for the health of the Database. Enjoy the installation series. Subscribe to this channel to get more and more better videos. dba interview questions & answer in oracle | Ten Minute Code

05:04
Top Oracle DBA Interview Questions & Answer 1. Oracle DBA Characteristics Criteria Result Main storage structures Logical and Physical Architecture Grid architecture ACID Compliance Fully compliant Data stored as Data blocks, extents, segments and table spaces 2. What is Oracle? Oracle is a company. Oracle is also a database server, which manages data in a very structured way. It allows users to store and retrieve related data in a multi user environment so that many users can concurrently access the same data. All this is accomplished while delivering high performance. A database server also prevents unauthorized access and provides efficient solutions for failure recovery. A standby database is a database replica created by taking a backup of a primary database. 3. What is a Oracle Database? Oracle provides software to create and manage the Oracle database. The database consists of physical and logical structures in which system, user, and control information is stored. The software that manages the database is called the Oracle database server. Collectively, the software that runs oracle and the physical database are called the Oracle database system. A database buffer cache stores the data in memory for quicker access. The redo logs track and store all the changes made to the database. A Data Guard ensures data protection and high availability of data and control file records the physical structure of the database. Click on the above link to read more and to become a Oracle DBA. 4. What are the roles of DBA? DBA has the authority to create new users, remove existing users or modify any of the environment variables or privileges assigned to other users. • Manage database storage • Administer users and security • Manage schema objects • Monitor and manage database performance • Perform backup and recovery • Schedule and automate jobs 5. What are different Oracle database objects? • TABLES • VIEWS • INDEXES • SYNONYMS • SEQUENCES • TABLESPACES 6. What are the benefits of ORDBMS? The objects as such can be stored in the database. The language of the DBMS can be integrated with an object- oriented programming language. The language may even be exactly the same as that used in the application, which does not force the programmer to have two representations of his objects. 7. What is an Oracle index? An index is an optional structure associated with a table to have direct access to rows, which can be created to increase the performance of data retrieval. Index can be created on one or more columns of a table. 8. What are the Common Oracle DBA Tasks? As an Oracle DBA, you can expect to be involved in the following tasks: • Installing Oracle software • Creating Oracle databases • Performing upgrades of the database and software to new release levels • Starting up and shutting down the database • Managing the database’s storage structures • Managing users and security • Managing schema objects, such as tables, indexes, and views • Making database backups and performing recovery when necessary • Proactively monitoring the database’s health and taking preventive or corrective action as required • Monitoring and tuning performance In a small to midsize database environment, you might be the sole person performing these tasks. In large enterprise environments, the job is often divided among several DBAs, each with their own area of specialty, such as the database security administrator or database tuning expert. 9. List out the Tools for Administering the Database? The following are some of the products, tools, and utilities you can use in achieving your goals as a database administrator. -Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) The Oracle Universal Installer installs your Oracle software and options. It can automatically launch the Database Configuration Assistant to install a database. -Database Configuration Assistant (DBCA) The Database Configuration Assistant creates a database from templates that are Oracle supplied, or you can create your own. It enables you to copy a preconfigured seed database, thus saving the time and effort of customizing and generating a database from scratch. -Database Upgrade Assistant This tool guides you through the upgrade of your existing database to a new Oracle release. -Oracle Net Manager This tool guides you through your Oracle Net network configuration. -Oracle Enterprise Manager The primary tool for managing your database is Oracle Enterprise Manager, a web-based interface. After you have installed the Oracle software, created or upgraded a database, and configured the network, you can use Oracle Enterprise Manager as the single interface for managing your database. In addition, Oracle Enterprise Manager also provides an interface for performance advisors and an interface for Oracle utilities such as SQL*Loader and Recovery Manager.

Database Tutorial 35 - What is an Oracle database?

06:17
Video 35 What is an Oracle database? - Database Tutorial 35 Oracle Database Tutorial During the startup, it starts up an instance first. This contains a bunch of memory processes. The configuration of those are determined by the parameter file. Now, we open a file. So it reads that file from the hard disk and load that into that Notepad's process. While we call the initial empty Notepad process that started when we clicked that icon as an instance, we also can call the file that we opened as a data. Similarly, during the startup, Oracle starts an instance. Then we tell it to open a database. So, it reads the files from the disk and opens them. The memory processes are collectively called as an Oracle Instance. Those data files it opened as collectively called as an Oracle Database. Oracle Instance + Oracle Database = Oracle Database Kinda like... iPhone + iPod = iPhone

Coding With Python :: Learn API Basics to Grab Data with Python

19:23
Coding With Python :: Learn API Basics to Grab Data with Python This is a basic introduction to using APIs. APIs are the "glue" that keep a lot of web applications running and thriving. Without APIs much of the internet services you love might not even exist! APIs are easy way to connect with other websites & web services to use their data to make your site or application even better. This simple tutorial gives you the basics of how you can access this data and use it. If you want to know if a website has an api, just search "Facebook API" or "Twitter API" or "Foursquare API" on google. Some APIs are easy to use (like Locu's API which we use in this video) some are more complicated (Facebook's API is more complicated than Locu's). More about APIs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Api Code from the video: http://pastebin.com/tFeFvbXp If you want to learn more about using APIs with Django, learn at http://CodingForEntrepreneurs.com for just $25/month. We apply what we learn here into a Django web application in the GeoLocator project. The Try Django Tutorial Series is designed to help you get used to using Django in building a basic landing page (also known as splash page or MVP landing page) so you can collect data from potential users. Collecting this data will prove as verification (or validation) that your project is worth building. Furthermore, we also show you how to implement a Paypal Button so you can also accept payments. Django is awesome and very simple to get started. Step-by-step tutorials are to help you understand the workflow, get you started doing something real, then it is our goal to have you asking questions... "Why did I do X?" or "How would I do Y?" These are questions you wouldn't know to ask otherwise. Questions, after all, lead to answers.
