The course provides a complete Business Education: Business Strategy, Management, Marketing, Accounting, Decision Making & Negotiation in just under 10 hours. -------------------------------------------------- Marketing module table of contents: Marketing: An Introduction Introduction to Marketing What is Marketing's role? However, pricing decisions inconsistent with a firm’s competitive strategy can be dangerous, which is why companies should address the topic with much caution and attention. There are three important components we need to distinguish in this process. The amount a product costs to be produced, the price customers pay to buy the product, and the value they acquire from the product. If a company aims at cost leadership, then the focus will be costs (trying to keep them as low as possible). The company must offer a price slightly lower than the one offered by competitors. Conversely, if a firm’s strategy is differentiation, then the critical factor will be the value delivered to customers. Costs are not that important, as companies offering a differentiated product can charge more. So, pricing must be coherent with competitive strategy, although sometimes it is tempting to adjust prices to stimulate short-term gains of market share and increases of sales. Top-level managers have to stay focused on the big picture and make coherent decisions in line with the firm’s long-term strategy.

Differences Between Project Management & Product Management

01:02:14
Despite the similar names, there are big differences between product management and project management. The confusion between the two roles is common and potentially harmful to organizations who do not acknowledge the distinction. This is often the case for companies that develop web-based and technology products. A common challenge is that the two roles often appear to be at odds with each other. A product manager may want to add a lot of features to meet customer needs, but the project manager may want to limit the scope so that the project is delivered on time and under budget. Join this webinar to learn: Key differences between the roles of a project manager and product manager Most important tasks for a project manager vs. a product manager What needs to happen to get the most out of existing products within your organization Comparison of the Product Management Body of Knowledge (ProdBOK) and the PMBOK

That doesn't change if you've been a PM for one day or ten years. This session focused on the lessons Neha Monga, Head of Product for global marketplace pricing at Amazon, has learned from launching products over her 10+ years long career as a product manager. Key Takeaways: 1. Launch a lot - get better at product launches by doing it often and developing pattern matching. 2. Short term vs. long term - have an idea of what the North Star looks like, but launch intermediate stages that create value for customers and still allows you to validate hypotheses. 3. One-way door vs. two-way door - maximize your optionality. Some launches are a one way door and can never be reversed. Others are two-way doors. Try to create more two-way doors. 4. Have a plan - pivot, double down, abandon. Know what you are looking for from the launch - what decisions and what are the next steps. 5. What are you doing to make the launch a success - releasing a product isn’t good enough. What are you trying to do to actually get - adoption, awareness? Have a strong GTM plan. Neha Monga is currently Head of Product for global marketplace pricing at Amazon. Prior to Amazon, she held multiple product positions at Expedia, Microsoft and Zynga. Outside of work, she loves to travel (6 continents and 34 countries so far) and play squash.
