VATICANO - Antoni Gaudí: Architecture, Nature and Passion

03:10
The most noted Catalan architect of the 20th century is up for beatification: Antoni Gaudí. Gaudí’s trait is unique, blending different epochs of architectural development and in merging creating a new style - a kind of naturalism - most evidently seen in his masterpiece the Church “Sagrada Familia” in Barcelona. Gaudí did not just work in an exceptional style, but lived an extraordinary life, worthy of recognition by the Church, says the head of the association working to promote his canonization.

The masterpieces of Antoni Gaudí

01:53
List about the masterpieces of Antoni Gaudí Antoni Gaudí i Cornet (Reus or Riudoms, June 25, 1852 - Barcelona, June 10, 1926) was a Spanish architect, maximum representative of Catalan modernism. Gaudí was an architect with an innate sense of geometry and volume, as well as a great imaginative capacity that allowed him to mentally project most of his works before moving them to plans. In fact, he rarely made detailed plans of his works; I preferred to recreate them on three-dimensional models, molding all the details as I thought of them. On other occasions, he would improvise on the fly, giving instructions to his collaborators about what they should do. What do you think has been the most amazing work of this architect? Vote for your favorites! In this list about the masterpieces of Antoni Gaudí you can find: 14. Bodegas Güell (Garraf, Barcelona) 13. Torre Bellesguard (Barcelona) 12. Casa Vicens (Barcelona) 11. Güell Palace (Barcelona) 10. The Gardens of Can Artigas (La Pobla de Lillet, Barcelona) 9. Crypt of Colonia Güell (Santa Coloma de Cervelló, Barcelona) 8. Casa Calvet (Barcelona) 7. House Botines (León) 6. Casa Milà (Barcelona) El Capricho (Comillas, Cantabria) Casa Batlló (Barcelona) Episcopal Palace (Astorga, León) Güell Park (Barcelona) The Sagrada Familia (Barcelona) 14. Bodegas Güell (Garraf, Barcelona) The complex is an example of modernism and shows us extremely original forms made with traditional materials such as stone and brick. In a construction that recalls a medieval style, the arches are parabolic instead of the typical semicircular form of Romanesque. 13. Torre Bellesguard (Barcelona) It was built between 1900 and 1909, with straight forms, inspired by the medieval castle of Martín I el Humano. Gaudí builds a castle halfway between modernism and Gothic and restores the remains of the medieval palace, which are part of the gardens of the estate. 12. Casa Vicens (Barcelona) It rises in the quiet neighborhood of Gràcia, as an unusual oasis of oriental and Mudejar aroma, covered with spectacular green and white tiles. It is the first important work of Gaudí, in which the architect followed the Orientalizing fashion of the time while investigating his style. 11. Güell Palace (Barcelona) The visit consists of an amazing tour that includes everything from the old stable in the basement, to the roof, through each of the special rooms of the house. It offers a new conception of space and light, showing original environments full of ornamental elements. 10. The Gardens of Can Artigas (La Pobla de Lillet, Barcelona) It is one of the most unknown works of Gaudí. In 1905, the architect traveled to the town of Lillet to build a villa for Eusebi Güell. And during his stay, he stays at the home of Joan Artigas, in gratitude he makes the design of some peculiar gardens. 9. Crypt of Colonia Güell (Santa Coloma de Cervelló, Barcelona) The importance of the church of the Colonia Güell in the work of Gaudí is due to the fact that it is the first time that it uses its architectural innovations in a unitary way. As such, said Gaudí himself, if it had been completed it would have been 'a monumental model of the Sagrada Família'. 8. Casa Calvet (Barcelona) The main facade has a baroque gallery with wrought iron railings and reliefs of different kinds of mushrooms. There are several busts, two balls of the world with bases and on top of them four-armed crosses. Currently, it houses a restaurant inside. 7. House Botines (León) A neo-Gothic building with modernist influences typical of Gaudi that was built between 1891 and 1894. It was declared a Historic Monument in 1969 and is currently owned by Caja España, which enabled it as its... The images you can find in this video are property of 20 minutos

Antoni Gaudi 7 Most famous works. 7 Cele mai renumite opere

02:09
Antoni Gaudí (25 June 1852 – 10 June 1926) was an architect known as the greatest exponent of Catalan Modernism. Gaudí's works have a highly individualized, and one-of-a-kind style. Most are located in Barcelona, including his main work, the church of the Sagrada Família. Gaudí's work was influenced by his passions in life: architecture, nature, and religion. He considered every detail of his creations and integrated into his architecture such crafts as ceramics, stained glass, wrought ironwork forging and carpentry. He also introduced new techniques in the treatment of materials, such as trencadís which used waste ceramic pieces. Under the influence of neo-Gothic art and Oriental techniques, Gaudí became part of the Modernista movement which was reaching its peak in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His work transcended mainstream Modernisme, culminating in an organic style inspired by natural forms. Gaudí rarely drew detailed plans of his works, instead preferring to create them as three-dimensional scale models and moulding the details as he conceived them. Gaudí's work enjoys global popularity and continuing admiration and study by architects. His masterpiece, the still-incomplete Sagrada Família, is the most-visited monument in Spain. Between 1984 and 2005, seven of his works were declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Gaudí's Roman Catholic faith intensified during his life and religious images appear in many of his works. This earned him the nickname "God's Architect" and led to calls for his beatification.

Antoni Gaudí -- was a Spanish architect from Catalonia

07:34
Gaudí's first works were designed in the style of gothic and traditional Spanish architectural modes, but he soon developed his own distinct sculptural style. French architect Eugene Viollet-le-Duc, who promoted an evolved form of gothic architecture, proved a major influence on Gaudí. But the student surpassed the master architect and contrived highly original designs -- irregular and fantastically intricate. Some of his greatest works, most notably La Sagrada Família, have an almost hallucinatory power.

Building the Sagrada Família - Antoni Gaudí i Cornet

01:52
If you mention Gaudí in Barcelona, then you also say Sagrada Família. From the east the cathedral appears completed but that is just its appearance. Gaudí was already involved in the building of the cathedral while working on Casa Milá. His predecessor Villar turned up his heels and Gaudí took over the work. He could not change the crypt anymore but he did redesign the rest of the cathedral. He never made elaborate floor plans, Gaudí solved the construction problems on the spot during building. The result is elegant and cheerful, the building constructions are always functional and 100% reliable. Today a group of 12 architects and dozens of construction workers work on the building daily, the cathedral will be completed around 2025 if the financing holds. Currently funds are generated mainly through tourists who want to see the structure up close. Gaudí had himself gone from door to door to collect money to continue the building work. After a busy day Gaudí used to walk around the city. Also on the seventh of July 1926, which would prove to be fateful. Hit by a tram he tragically died three days later in hospital. To this day Gaudí has never been equalled. He took his art and genius to the grave. Gaudí is dead, long live Gaudí. The remarkable style of the buildings designed by Antoni Gaudí i Cornet at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 29th century surpassed the national level of architecture in Spain. They include Parc Güell, Casa Vicens, Palau Güell, Casa Milá en Casa Batlló. stockshots broadcast format available at: http://www.stockshot.nl/ -

Casa Batlló by Gaudí in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain

http://tourvideos.com/ Casa Batlló by Gaudí is one of the great buildings of the 20th century, a must-visit when you are in Barcelona. This unusual house looks alive, with curved lines and organic shapes creating a wonderful experience. We learn about it from our excellent guide, Sandra Benzal, who you can find through aguideinbarcelona. Sandra explains that Antoni Gaudí rebuilt and designed this structure on commission from the Batlló family, who wanted a new home in the Modernist style in the early 1900s. Beautiful when viewed for free from outside, on Passeig de Gràcia, it gets more interesting when you pay to go inside, as we show you in this video. Walk up the beautiful staircase to the main room with its amazing large curved window for a very special experience, then continue to the roof-top and see the ceramic dragon.

Antoni GAUDI - La SAGRADA Familia

Join my PAGE on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/DiCAPUA.Channel and my GROUP too: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=157207524313432 Antoni GAUDì - (1882 - ....) - La SAGRADA Familia (Barcelona - Spain) La Sagrada Família, the full name in Catalan "Expiatorio Temple de la Sagrada Familia" (Expiatory Temple of the Holy Family) [http://www.sagradafamilia.cat/] in Barcelona [41°24'11.29"N- 2°10'25.85"E], Catalonia (Spain) is a great Roman Catholic basilica (minor), still under construction, considered the masterpiece of architect Antoni Placid Guillem Gaudí i Cornet (Reus, June 25, 1852 - Barcelona, June 10, 1926), the greatest exponent of Catalan Modernism. The vastness of the scale of the project and his distinctive style has made it one of the main symbols of the city and one of the obligatory mass tourism. The project is based on the reconstructed versions of the projects and on the lost models (a fire in 1936, hanged during the Spanish Civil War by the Republicans to the atelier of Gaudí, destroyed a lot of design drawings of the famous architect), on the study of the portion of the building made personally from Gaudí and on a modern adaptations. Each part of the project is full of allegories and mystics Christian symbolism, because Gaudí conceived the church to be the "last great Sanctuary of Christianity" .The most striking aspects is its slender spire. It has already been carried out in total 8, but the spire of the basilica will be 18, representing in ascending order: the 12 apostles, the 4 evangelists, the Virgin and the highest of all, Jesus. The spiers of the evangelists will be surmounted by sculptures of their traditional symbols: an angel, a bull, an eagle and a lion. The spire of the Madonna will be topped by the Star of the Morning while the central one of Christ, which will be built on the base of the dome above the nave, will have a height of 170 meters and will be surmounted by a huge cross. The total height of the spiers, however, be less than one meter of that of the Montjuïc, because Gaudí believed that his work should not exceed that of God. The eight already produced lower spiers are topped with clusters of grapes, representing the spiritual fruit. The church will have three big sides, two of which have already been completed. The facade of the Nativity, which has a Gothic appearance, was built with the sculptures provided by Gaudí and built by J. Busquets. The facade of the Passion, which affects in particular for his thin characters, gaunt, tormented by the ominous forms, controversial work by the contemporary sculptor Josep Subirachs, this facade is very attractive also for the presence of numbers that added up to lines, columns, and diagonal always result in "33", the years of Christ. On the last front of Gloria, not yet realized. The themes of all the decoration include words of the liturgy. The towers are decorated with words such as "Hosanna, " "Excelsis", and "Sanctus"and the great door of the Passion façade reproduce words from the Bible in several languages, including Catalan, it is expected that the facade is decorated with words of Glory taken from the Apostles' Creed. Specific areas of the sanctuary will be designated to represent various religious concepts as saints, virtues, sins, and secular concepts such as the Spanish regions, presumably everyone will have matching decorations. The computer modeling has become useful to shape the various elements, such as the pillars of the interior church. In fact, thanks to the use of these programs and certain machines can finally create identical pieces together, as well as Gaudi had designed them. On 7 November 2010, with a Missa Solemnis headed by Pope Benedict XVI, was consecrated the nave characterized by enormous columns that resemble trees branched and a ceiling that seems composed of giant sunflowers, and the crossing, including the choir and the rose window will give you light. With the completion of these parts, the project takes next step for the construction of the central dome which is built on the great central spire of Christ. He's known as "God's architect" but in the future, Antoni Gaudí, could also be a Saint

02:33
August 8, 2011. (Romereports.com) Antoni Gaudí is mostly known for his unique style and for being the most important architect of Catalan Modernism. But, in the future, the Spaniard could also be known as a Saint. José Manuel Almuzara President, Association for the Beatification of Antoni Gaudí "Since 1992, when we founded the Association for the Beatification of Antoni Gaudí, our priority has been to spread Gaudi's devotion throughout the world. That is, to discover him as more than just an architect, but also as a person and a Christian." He was known as "God's architect" and it's easy to see why. The temple of the Holy Family is a true architectural masterpiece, but it's also a catechism in stone. The facades trace the life of Jesus. José Manuel Almuzara President, Association for the Beatification of Antoni Gaudí "Every day thousands of people go to see the basilica of the "Holy Family." They recognize that beyond this wonderful building, is a devout Christian. More people are discovering that this type of architecture leads them to God, whether it be consciously or subconsciously." This Christian sense seems to always be present in Gaudi's designs. Not only in his religious works of course, but also in his civil work. José Manuel Almuzara President, Association for the Beatification of Antoni Gaudí "It's interesting because in all his work, be it religious or even civil, he left his Christian mark. The Casa Batlló, La Pedrera, Park Güell, the Casa Calvet; they all expressed their love for God through a cross, a detail that reminds us of the Virgin Mary." Jose Manuel Almuzara says the association has received hundreds of letters that detail favors that were granted through the intercession of Gaudi, among them is a possible miracle. José Manuel Almuzara President, Association for the Beatification of Antoni Gaudí "A miracle is being analyzed right now, but we still don't know the conclusion of the specialists. We're happy because more and more, Antoni Gaudí is being know as a holy man, as a person who deserves to be considered for our prayers, for our intercession before God." And if doctors confirm that one of these cases is in fact a miracle, meaning if the case is scientifically unexplainable and immediate, then Gaudi's beatification could be near. In that case, his nickname he earned as "God's architect" will be more fitting than ever....

La Sagrada Familia, Holy Family, Barcelona, Spain, Antoni Gaudi

02:06
La Sagrada Familia, By Antoni Gaudi (Barcelona) La Sagrada Familia is a very large catholic church in Barcelona and Antoni Gaudi's most famous works. The church has been under construction since 1882. It was never finished in Gaudi's life time. Civil war in Spain later destroyed some of the building and Gaudi's original drawings are partly missing. Therefore today the style of the so called Wall of Death, and Ressurection of Christ, is completely changed. The Facade of Birth was almost finished in Gaudi's time giving us the opportunity to see what style that Gaudi intended for the church. There are two more facades, The Facade of Passion and of Glory. The sculptures on the Glory Facade will represent man in general and his place in God's creation, showing his origin, purpose and what he must do to accomplish it. On the passion facade, the statues stand out but there are no ornaments in the background. The forms are also very simple. In this way he wanted to depict the pain that Jesus went through to his death. The Church is expected to be finished in twenty years from now. According to other opinions, it could take even more years. The money for the construction comes partly from the fees that visitors pay. Another source of finance are donations that people all over the world make. Gaudi was deeply religious and Sagrada Familia gave him the chance to express his faith. The church is full of religious symbols. Gaudi also found inspiration in nature, and you can see it clearly in the architecture inside the church, with columns branching like trees. When the church will be finished, there will be 18 towers with the inscription alpha and omega, the beginning and end of life, on each tower. Find more information on: http://www.sagradafamilia.cat

Antoni GAUDÌ - Parc GÜELL

It was designed by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí and built in the years 1900 to 1914. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Works of Antoni Gaudí". The park was originally part of a commercially unsuccessful housing site, the idea of Count Eusebi Güell, whom the park was named after. It was inspired by the English garden city movement; hence the original English name Park . The site was a rocky hill with little vegetation and few trees, called Muntanya Pelada (Bare Mountain). It already included a large country house called Larrard House or Muntaner de Dalt House, and was next to a neighborhood of upper class houses called La Salut (The Health). The intention was to exploit the fresh air (well away from smoky factories) and beautiful views from the site, with sixty triangular lots being provided for luxury houses. Count Eusebi Güell added to the prestige of the development by moving in 1906 to live in Larrard House. Ultimately, only two houses were built, neither designed by Gaudí. One was intended to be a show house, but on being completed in 1904 was put up for sale, and as no buyers came forward, Gaudí, at Güell's suggestion, bought it with his savings and moved in with his family and his father in 1906. This house, where Gaudí lived from 1906 to 1926, was built by Francesc Berenguer in 1904. It contains original works by Gaudí and several of his collaborators. It is now the Gaudí Museum (Casa Museu Gaudí) since 1963. In 1969 it was declared a historical artistic monument of national interest. The focal point of the park is the main terrace, surrounded by a long bench in the form of a sea serpent. To design the curvature of the bench surface Gaudí used the shape of buttocks left by a naked workman sitting in wet clay. The curves of the serpent bench form a number of enclaves, creating a more social atmosphere. Gaudí incorporated many motifs of Catalan nationalism, and elements from religious mysticism and ancient poetry, into the Park. The visitor was originally greeted by two life-size mechanical gazelles, but these have since been lost during the turbulence of war. The large cross at the Park's high-point offers the most complete view of Barcelona and the bay. It is possible to view the main city in panorama, with the Sagrada Família and the Montjuïc area visible at a distance. . Творения Антонио Гауди / Сreation of Antonio Gaudí

02:15

Gaudí in Barcelona, Spain

00:29
The remarkable style of the buildings designed by Antoni Gaudí i Cornet at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 29th century surpassed the national level of architecture in Spain. They include Parc Güell, Casa Vicens, Palau Güell, Casa Milá en Casa Batlló. Josep Batlló, a rich fabric manufacturer had originally wanted to demolish his house and asked Gaudí to make a new design. Gaudí thought it sad to demolish the building and he designed a truly fantastic house around it. He threw overboard all standard architectural principles. No right angles or straight lines. But flowing forms from a distant dream world. Words can hardly describe it ... Gaudí at his best. From the east the Sagrada Família appears completed but that is just its appearance. La Sagrada Familia Gaudi

04:31
La Sagrada Familia was originally conceived by the Catalan publisher Josep Bocabella as a work of expiation for the city's increasingly revolutionary ideas. Work began in 1882 by public subscription on a design by architect Francesc de Paula Villar, which proposed a simple church in a traditional neo-Gothic style. After arguments between Bocabella and Villar, Antoni Gaudí took over as lead architect in 1884. Gaudí immediately changed the project completely, seizing the opportunity to express his strong religious and nationalist feelings. After finishing the Parc Guell in 1911, Gaudí vowed to abandon secular art and devote himself entirely to the Sagrada Familia. He worked on it tirelessly for over 40 years, living as a virtual hermit in a workshop on the site. When questioned about the slow pace, he is said to have replied, "My client is not in a hurry. "Nevertheless, it remained unfinished at Gaudí's untimely death in 1926, when the artist was run over by a tram on the Gran Via. He died in hospital two days later and was mourned by all of Catalonia. He is buried in the crypt of the Sagrada Familia. Work on the project continued after Gaudí's death under the direction of Domènech Sugranyes but was interrupted by the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War in 1935. The building remained intact during the war, but in 1936 many of its models and plans were destroyed by Catalan anarchists, who saw the church as a symbol of the old, conservative religion that had no place in the new Barcelona. Construction began again in the late 1950s and has continued ever since. The current design is based on a combination of reconstructed versions of the lost plans and modern adaptations. Vaults over the side aisles were added in 1995 and the roof over the nave was finished in early 2001. The current director, Jordi Bonet i Armengol, began using computers for the design and construction process in the 1980s, which has sped up the complicated process considerably. Still, the final stage of the grand Sagrada Familia is not progressing much faster than it did under Gaudi. Estimated completion dates range from 2017 to 2026, the 100th anniversary of Gaudi's death.

Font d'Hèrcules d'Antoni Gaudí, Barcelona

01:38
Today we're visiting a hidden gem in Barcelona that many locals don't know nor visit. Font d'Hèrcules (fountain), by Antoni Gaudí 1884. The palace has its origins in the old Masia (mas or farmer's house) de Can Feliu, from the XVII century. The corresponding land was adquired by the count Eusebi Güell, along with the neighbouring Can Cuiàs de la Riera. Together they formed the Finca Güell, an extensive parcel of land (30,000 m2). The Can Feliu building was remodeled by the architect Joan Martorell i Montells, who built a Caribbean-style small palace, together with a Gothic-style chapel and surrounded by magnificent gardens. Later the building remodeling was given to Antoni Gaudí, together with the construction of a surrounding perimeter wall and the side entry pavilions. Gaudí also partially designed the gardens surrounding the palace, placing two fountains and a pergola and planted many Mediterranean plants like palm trees, cypress trees, magnolias, pine trees and eucalyptus. The Font d'Hércules (Hercules fountain) still exists today on site, restored in 1983; it has a bust of Hercules on top of a pillar with Catalonia's shield and a cannon in the shape of a Chinese dragon.
