Top 10 Most Dangerous Roads and Highways from around the world you should never take your car on. Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/9CwQhg For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] Other Videos You Might Like Strange Things That Only Happen In America 10 Largest Holes Swallowing Earth Description: Since the invention of the modern automobile, we have been in love with our cars, trucks and motorcycles. It’s hard to think how we could function on a daily basis without a personal car around to take us to the grocery store, movie theatre or over to a friend’s house. This mode of transportation is such an important part of most peoples’ lives that we have no idea how we’d cope if cars suddenly disappeared tomorrow. Sure, most cars pollute and after a decade or so we get rid of the old and bring in a new car – filling up wrecking yards and burnings tons of gasoline in the process. The automobile is so important that rather than develop a whole new mode of transportation we instead focus our energy on creating more efficient gasoline burning engines and new models of electric cars. Nonetheless, the car is an integral part of our lives and our culture. Of course, many people have often heard the saying (but never really payed any attention to it) that driving is one of the most dangerous things we do in our daily lives. Indeed, getting behind the wheel of your ride and heading off to work or some other destination can be very dangerous. Statistically, the number crunchers say that you are far more likely to die driving your car than flying in a plane. The numbers seem to back this up by showing that over 90 people are killed every day in motor vehicle accidents in the US alone. It all makes sense once you think about it. If you think about all the people out on the road and add in distracted and drunk drivers, mechanical failures and bad weather then it’s easy to see why driving can be so dangerous. But what about the actual sections of roads and highways that seemingly have a high number of accidents and fatalities all year round. That is, it can be bad enough driving on ‘regular’ roads and highways around the world but there are roads which, for whatever reason, just seem more dangerous than the rest. You are probably picturing the classic mountain side road, carved into the rock with minimal safety barriers and exposed to landslides and all the inclement weather you can think of. Yes, those roads are very dangerous, but they aren’t the only ones to avoid driving on. As part two of our ‘dangerous roads’ series, we look at 10 roads you probably wouldn’t want to drive on. These motorways are found all across the world, in all sorts of environments and at all sorts of altitudes. There are the expected mountain roads – narrow and crumbling where one small mistake means you are going for a very long fall. There are also the remote and isolated highways running through deserts and the vastness of Siberia. There are even the sea level roads which provide their own nasty little surprise that can ruin your day (or life). We guarantee that after seeing this your daily commute will appear to be a walk in the park. FAQ: https://randomphotons.com/alone Images: http://eol.jsc.nasa.gov/ Music: 'Freedom Fighters' by Two Steps from Hell Editor: David Peterson Serving Suggestion: 1080p, lights off, volume up :) Inspired by a version of the opening sequence of this clip called 'What does it feel like to fly over planet Earth?' (Inspiration: http://youtu.be/74mhQyuyELQ), I tracked down the original time-lapse sequence taken on the International Space Station (ISS) via NASA, found some additional ones there, including the spectacular Aurora Australis sequences, and set it to a soundtrack that almost matches the awe and wonder I feel when I see our home from above. To those brave men and women who fly alone in the night to take us to the stars, we salute you. ----------------------- Sequences: 1. (0:00) North-to-south down the western coast of North and South America. 2. (0:48) North-to-south over Florida, the Bahamas and other Caribbean islands. 3. (0:56) South-East Asia, approaching the Philippine Sea 4. (1:04) Western Europe, from France through Italy, Greece, Turkey and the Middle East. 5. (1:20) Aurora Australis, over the Indian Ocean, approaching Australia 6. (1:36) Aurora Australis, over the Indian Ocean. 7. (1:52) Aurora Australis, unknown location in the Southern Hemisphere. ----------------------- Featured on NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day! http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap120305.html Explanation from NASA: Many wonders are visible when flying over the Earth at night. A compilation of such visual spectacles was captured recently from the International Space Station (ISS) and set to rousing music. Passing below are white clouds, orange city lights, lightning flashes in thunderstorms, and dark blue seas. On the horizon is the golden haze of Earth's thin atmosphere, frequently decorated by dancing auroras as the video progresses. The green parts of auroras typically remain below the space station, but the station flies right through the red and purple auroral peaks. Solar panels of the ISS are seen around the frame edges. The ominous wave of approaching brightness at the end of each sequence is just the dawn of the sunlit half of Earth, a dawn that occurs every 90 minutes.

Conspiracy theories are nothing new, but in the age of the internet, they spread like “chemtrails” in the wind. The theory that the world is flat, for example, gained so much popularity online that this year 500 people gathered for the first ever International Flat Earth Conference. The belief that the world is flat has kind of been around forever, but it picked up steam in 2015 with a rash of online communities, YouTube videos, podcasts, and even songs preaching the gospel. At some point, Kyrie Irving of the Boston Celtics started talking about it too, which really seemed to blow the lid off the heliocentric model. So, the time was right for the Flat Earth International Conference, the first of its kind, held at the beginning of November outside of Raleigh, NC. Sold out since May, the conference brought together hundreds of people who had before only really interacted online. It was an opportunity for believers to network, share research, meet thought leaders, find a flat-earth compatible mate, show off various NASA parody t-shirts, and talk shit about Neil deGrasse Tyson. VICE News was there for it all. As one attendee told us, “it gets pretty deep.” We'll let you be the judge. More information: http://www.space-affairs.com Unfortunately the flights with the world legendary MIG-29 stopped in October 2017 after 11 years of flying our clients. Do you want to have more MIG-29 videos? Visit the playlist "6-cam view" of an MIG-29 flight here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLG7iHeDUtdbMBAvhf2YaXI5p8Yh8OjLRZ A flight with the MIG-29 "Fulcrum" to the edge of space is a spectacular and very emotional experience. Depending on weather conditions and a total weight of the plane the flight will take you to altitudes between 56,000 and 72,000 feet. These are the capabilities. The height what you can reach on your flight day depends on weather conditions of the flight day. (Temperature levels below the stratosphere). If you want to see the flight in total out of the view of the backseater and will listen to the communication, have a look here: http://youtu.be/AQ1DCN74A6o And by the way: the formula what you see on Michael's visor is the Newton's law of universal gravity. :) German artist Michael Najjar performed a high altitude MIG-29 flight. Michael Najjar is a German artist, adventurer and - future astronaut. Born in 1966, he has lived and worked in Berlin since 1988. His work is shown in museums, galleries and biennials around the world. He works with photography and video. The focus of his work is on key elements of our modern society driven and controlled by computer and information technologies. Najjar, widely seen as a visual futurist, transmutes science, history and philosophy into visions and utopias of future social structures emerging under the impact of cutting-edge technologies. His current work series "outer space" deals with the latest developments in space flight and the way they will shape our future life on earth and in earth's near orbit. He used the footage and the pictures of his art line "Outer Space". His interest was to go high as possible and to do a lot or rolls. Both you can see in this video. Test pilot Yuri Polyakov flown him through the sound barrier, to the edge of space and did a lot of rolls during the descent from high above. The stunning pictures of Earth's atmosphere are a result of this flight. More information about Michael Najjar and his arts: http://www.michaelnajjar.com Attention: all people who think that Earth is flat should think about to increase knowledge. Humans experience is available nowadays 365/7/24. 500 years ago people were set on fire because they told that Earth is a sphere and that the sun is the centre and not the sphere called Earth. The video (and others we make) was made with GoPro Cameras, what are the state of the art action cams nowadays. These cameras using ultra wide lenses with 170 degrees, precisely those cameras are known for. It's called a barrel distortion, what gives a more sized imagery. We do not have to talk about more physics, laws and knowledge, what is known since hundred of years. And a final note to "The Edge of Space": The border at the edge of space is defined by the Karman Line at 360,000 feet altitude. This is certainly a physical boundary, where aerodynamics stops, and astronautics begins. The using of the expression "edge of space" is also referring to a region below the conventional 100 km boundary to space, which is often meant to include substantially lower regions as well, for flights with high atmospheric balloons or aircraft what are flying mostly higher than normal aircraft. A trip to #Mars involves radiation, muscle and bone loss, intermediate axis theorem and liquids. Check out Mars on National Geographic, Monday Nov 12 at 9/8c #sponsored When I got offered the chance to fly in another #zeroG plane, I jumped at the chance. Do you know how hard it is when you are thrust into low-gravity, like the 37% of Earth's gravity of Mars, and you have to remember what you were going to say in a 30 second window as blood floods your head? It's pretty hard. It would be even harder to actually travel to Mars. It would take about 8 months in microgravity during which time your muscles and bones would weaken substantially, even if you exercise for hours a day like the astronauts on the space station. And your heart is a muscle too so it weakens as well. Before I contemplated these rates of muscle and bone loss, I thought the major challenge with a round trip journey to Mars would be the logistics of spacecraft and having enough fuel to get back. But with the weakening of the human body, it's an open question whether anyone would really want to come back. Filmed by Steve Boxall Music from Epidemic Sound: http://epidemicsound.com

The world's roundest object helps solve the longest running problem in measurement -- how to define the kilogram. Support Veritasium on Patreon: http://bit.ly/VePatreon A kilogram isn't what it used to be. Literally. The original name for it was the 'grave', proposed in 1793 but it fell victim to the French Revolution like its creator, Lavoisier. So begins the tale of the most unusual SI unit. The kilogram is the only base unit with a prefix in its name, and the only one still defined by a physical artifact, the international prototype kilogram or IPK. But the problem with this definition has long been apparent. The IPK doesn't seem to maintain its mass compared to 40 similar cylinders minted at the same time. The goal is therefore to eliminate the kilogram's dependence on a physical object. Two main approaches are being considered to achieve this end: the Avogadro Project and the Watt Balance. The Avogadro project aims to redefine Avogadro's constant (currently defined by the kilogram -- the number of atoms in 12 g of carbon-12) and reverse the relationship so that the kilogram is precisely specified by Avogadro's constant. This method required creating the most perfect sphere on Earth. It is made out of a single crystal of silicon 28 atoms. By carefully measuring the diameter, the volume can be precisely specified. Since the atom spacing of silicon is well known, the number of atoms in a sphere can be accurately calculated. This allows for a very precise determination of Avogadro's constant. Special thanks to Katie Green, Dr. David Farrant, the CSIRO, and the National Measurment Institute for their help. Thanks also to Nessy Hill for filming and reviewing earlier drafts of this video. There is debate as to whether this is truly the roundest object ever created. The Gravity Probe-B rotors are also spherical with very low tolerances such that they may in fact be rounder. A Trip to the Moon (French: Le Voyage dans la Lune) is a 1902 French silent film directed by Georges Méliès. Inspired by a wide variety of sources, including Jules Verne's novels From the Earth to the Moon and Around the Moon, the film follows a group of astronomers who travel to the Moon in a cannon-propelled capsule, explore the Moon's surface, escape from an underground group of Selenites, and return to Earth with a captive Selenite. Who on Earth is exposed to the most ionizing radiation? Check out Audible: http://bit.ly/AudibleVe I'm filming a documentary for TV about how Uranium and radioactivity have shaped the modern world. It will be broadcast in mid-2015, details to come. The filming took me to the most radioactive places on Earth (and some places, which surprisingly aren't as radioactive as you'd think). Chernobyl and Fukushima were incredible to see as they present post-apocalyptic landscapes. I also visited nuclear power plants, research reactors, Marie Curie's institute, Einstein's apartment, nuclear medicine areas of hospitals, uranium mines, nuclear bomb sites, and interviewed numerous experts. Notes about measuring radiation: Sieverts are a measure of 'effective dose' - that means they measure the biological impact of the energy transferred to tissues from radiation. Obviously I owe a debt to the fantastic chart made by xkcd, which inspired my visual approach to this video. https://xkcd.com/radiation/ DOSES MAY VARY The level of radiation varies widely around the world depending mainly on altitude and geology (excluding nuclear accidents). Estimates of particular doses also vary. All numbers reported in this video should be taken as order of magnitude only. The most contentious claim may be that smokers receive the highest dose of ionizing radiation. This is not a whole body dose, but a dose to the lungs as specified in the video. more at http://quickfound.net/ "Fort Monmouth, New Jersey where army engineers sent radar to moon, closeup of screen shows radar signal, Col. DeWitt speaks, many future possibilities appear if allow imagination to reign." Public domain film from the National Archives, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and mild video noise reduction applied. The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and/or equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Diana Project Diana, named for the Roman moon goddess Diana — goddess of the hunt, wild animals and the moon — was a project of the US Army Signal Corps to bounce radio signals off the moon and receive the reflected signals. Today called EME (Earth-Moon-Earth), this was the first attempt to "touch" another celestial body. From a laboratory at Camp Evans (part of Fort Monmouth), in Wall Township, New Jersey, a large transmitter, receiver and antenna array were constructed for this purpose. The transmitter, a highly modified SCR-271 radar set from World War II, provided 3,000 watts at 111.5 MHz in 1/4 second pulses, and the antenna (a "bedspring" dipole array) provided 24 dB of gain. Reflected signals were received about 2.5 seconds later, with the receiver compensating for Doppler modulation of the reflected signal. The antenna could be rotated in azimuth only, so the attempt could be made only as the moon passed through the 15 degree wide beam at moonrise and moonset, as the antenna's elevation angle was horizontal. About 40 minutes of observation was available on each pass as the moon transited the various lobes of the antenna pattern. The first successful echo detection came on 10 January 1946 at 1158am local time by John H. DeWitt and his chief scientist E. King Stodola. Project Diana marked the birth of the US space program, as well as that of radar astronomy. It was the first demonstration that artificially-created signals could penetrate the ionosphere, opening the possibility of radio communications beyond the earth for space probes and human explorers. It also established the practice of naming space projects after Roman gods, e.g., Mercury and Apollo. Today, the Project Diana site is maintained by the Infoage Science/History Learning Center. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EME_(communications) Earth-Moon-Earth, also known as moon bounce, is a radio communications technique which relies on the propagation of radio waves from an Earth-based transmitter directed via reflection from the surface of the Moon back to an Earth-based receiver... History The use of the Moon as a passive communications satellite was proposed by Mr. W.J. Bray of the British General Post Office in 1940. It was calculated that with the available microwave transmission powers and low noise receivers, it would be possible to beam microwave signals up from Earth and reflect off the Moon. It was thought that at least one voice channel would be possible. The "moon bounce" technique was developed by the United States Military in the years after World War II, with the first successful reception of echoes off the Moon being carried out at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey on January 10, 1946 by John H. DeWitt as part of Project Diana. The Communication Moon Relay project that followed led to more practical uses, including a teletype link between the naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and United States Navy headquarters in Washington, DC. In the days before communications satellites, a link free of the vagaries of ionospheric propagation was revolutionary. Later, the technique was used by non-military commercial users, and the first amateur detection of signals from the Moon took place in 1953. EME communications technical details As the albedo of the Moon is very low (maximally 12% but usually closer to 7%), and the path loss over the 770,000 kilometre return distance is extreme (around 250 to 310 dB depending on VHF-UHF band used, modulation format and Doppler shift effects), high power (more than 100 watts) and high-gain antennas (more than 20 dB) must be used. In practice, this limits the use of this technique to the spectrum at VHF and above. The Moon must be above the horizon in order for EME communications to be possible... Current EME communications Amateur radio (ham) operators utilize EME for two-way communications... Amateur operations use VHF, UHF and microwave frequencies. All amateur frequency bands from 50 MHz to 47 GHz have been used successfully, but most EME communications are on the 2 meter, 70-centimeter, or 23-centimeter bands... Recent advances in digital signal processing have allowed EME contacts, admittedly with low data rate, to take place with powers in the order of 100 Watts and a single Yagi antenna...

50 years ago, three NASA astronauts embarked on a journey that would take them “Round the moon and back”. The Apollo 8 mission proved the performance of the command and service module. This historic mission launched on December 21, 1968 to demonstrate a lunar trajectory and was the first crewed launch of the Saturn V rocket. On Christmas Eve, Frank Borman, Jim Lovell, and Bill Anders were the first humans to orbit the Moon and the first to see an Earthrise above its surface. Update / Note* ‘David’ (the anonymous source) and I are still speaking and making progress and some resources have been volunteered by viewers, more to follow on this one so stay tuned. -FWFE David says he was hired to work in Antarctica and saw the ice wall. He says he wants help from the FE community on determining the validity of a sample he kept, and possibly some other assistance as well to prove parts of his story. He’s asked me to make a video about it to get some attention. I’ve asked him to write me back but he has yet to, so hopefully (we’ll see) this video will get his attention. To the commenters saying it’s an ice shelf, look again, they go for hundreds and thousands of miles. Look at the shots in this video on pause, they are tremendous in scope and are difficult to actually fathom the scope of area because it is so flat, white and bland... the vanishing point is distorted and scale is out of perspective. Some of the scenes have people or boats for a bit of reference, the airplane shots into the vast unknown show an incredibly vast area, with the huge 300 foot ice wall looking like a tiny crack in some snow, but none do it justice.
