How do Wings generate LIFT ?
Dear friends, please help us to make LE's efforts sustainable. Please support us at Patreon.com https://www.patreon.com/LearnEngineering Have you ever thought how wings of an aircraft work ? How do they produce incredible amount of lift ? Airfoil technology helped human beings to fly. Airplane wing works due to the interesting fluid mechanics behind the airfoils. Wind Turbines, gas turbines and hydraulic machines, all work on the principles of airfoil. This video will unveil the physics behind the simple shape that revolutionized the engineering world. Working of airfoil is explained here with help of Coanda effect and flow curvature principle. The drawback of argument based on Bernoulli's prinicple demonstrated here both experimentally and theoretically. Why can't we fly a plane into space ?
Why can’t we fly a plane into space, what stops it from just flying higher and higher until we are in space?, sounds like a daft question but it has interesting implications that mean we might not be that far from a plane that can fly into space. Patreon : https://www.patreon.com/curiousdroid Paypal.me : https://www.paypal.me/curiousdroid You can now translate this and other curious droid videos, see my video about it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLPVgIytKyg Well, there several issues but assuming we are in something like a normal jet airliner, then one of the main problems is the air, or lack of it as we get closer to space. A plane flies because as it is propelled forward, the wings, which are shaped to make the air flow faster over the top of them than the bottom, generate lift. As the plane goes faster the wings create more lift and when the lift is greater than the weight of the plane, it will climb up into the air. For our plane to continue to climb it needs more speed to increase the lift. If you throttle back on the speed a bit, the plane will settle in to level flight and if you decrease the speed the plane will start to fall as lift from the wings is not enough to overcome the weight of the plane. Shaking Orion’s solar wings
Testing the solar wings of the European service module that will provide power, water, air and electricity to NASA’s Orion Moon module. The solar arrays Orion will use to produce electricity are tested at ESA’s technical heart in the Netherlands. Folded for launch, the fragile solar panels need to survive the rumbling into space aboard the most powerful rocket ever built, NASA’s Space Launch System. Orion’s solar panels will be folded inside the rocket fairing on the first leg of the trip around the Moon. Once released from the rocket they will unfold and rotate towards the Sun to start delivering power. To make sure the solar panels will work after the intense launch, ESA engineers are putting them through rigorous tests that exceed what they will experience on launch day. This includes vibrating them on a shaking table and placing them in front of enormous speakers that recreate the harsh launch conditions. Orion will eventually fly beyond the Moon with astronauts, the first time a spacecraft will support humans with European hardware will also be the farthest humans ever travel from Earth. The first mission – without astronauts – is getting ready for launch in 2019. ★ Subscribe: http://bit.ly/ESAsubscribe Learn more about Orion: http://bit.ly/OrionESA

How Safe Is Air Travel?
Unless you've avoided television and the Internet entirely over the past few years, it has been almost impossible not to be aware of the recent dramatic and tragic airplane crashes. It's enough to make even seasoned travelers wonder if flying is getting steadily less safe. Although the past few years have featured a few high-profile crashes, if you take the long view it becomes clear that the airline industry actually has a very good safety record -- and it's getting better, not worse. According to the International Air Transport Association, in 2015 there was one commercial jet accident per 4.5 million flights. This was in line with 2014, when the number was one accident per 4.4 million flights, and better than 2013 (one accident per 2.4 million flights). In 2015 the 510 total fatalities were out of more than 3.5 billion journeys. On average you would need to fly every day for 55,000 years in order to be involved in a fatal crash. Here are 11 Things Not to Do on a Plane: Driving is the obvious first comparison, and the National Safety Council notes that your odds of dying in a motor vehicle crash are 1 in 112. Your odds of dying in a plane crash? 1 in 96,566. The National Safety Council offers these odds on other methods of dying, all of which are significantly more likely to happen than being killed in a plane crash: - Being assaulted by a firearm: 1 in 358 - Being electrocuted: 1 in 12,200 - Walking down the street: 1 in 704 - Falling: 1 in 144 - Overdosing on a prescription painkiller: 1 in 234 Further, airline safety experts believe that the industry is likely to maintain and even improve these statistics as technology improves, older fleets are replaced and developing regions such as parts of Asia strive to match the air safety record of Europe and the United States. There are a bunch of good reasons many of us remain wary of air travel, and none of them is "because we are idiots." For one, for many decades air travel really wasn't so safe. Second, studies of various types of fear have largely concluded that the fear of any activity or possibility is rarely overcome by reading statistics and lots of rational thought. Rather, our deep inclination toward self-preservation takes over, and it can be nearly impossible to turn that off. Even if we know that flying is safer than taking a bath, and even if we're aware of some of the stats and the effect of media amplification, it is still hard not to wonder if it's really safe to fly. So we will offer the single most effective tactic. Look to the leaders of the team, the flight attendants and pilots. These folks choose to do this every day, as their job. They get up early, put on work clothes, have a quick breakfast, commute to work -- and then, as routinely as many of us go to the office and boot up the computer, get on a long-haul plane. Look at their faces. They are not scared or nervous -- it's just another day on the job. If they're not worried that their 55,000 years are up, why should we be? Experiments Proving Astral Projection is Real
🌐 Support and keep this channel alive on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/universeinsideyou or here: http://bit.ly/2COJqdM I would be forever grateful 🙏💗 💜 Subscribe and like if you enjoyed the video. Thank you 💜 Astral projection is a conscious out-of-body experience that assumes the existence of consciousness or soul called astral body, which can travel outside the physical body throughout the universe. By leaving the physical body, the astral body can float and traverse across the world or observe the environment. Individuals who practice astral projection are aware of what’s happening around them. The believe of astral projection as a real phenomenon, and not a fabrication of the mind can even be supported by quantum physics, since as quantum physics suggests: everything is energy and we are all connected, hence separating your consciousness, from your physical body to explore the other realm, or with other words: the 4th astral dimension, would not be something so unexplained and impossible. Astral projection gives you incredible free. During an astral projection, you can do absolutely everything you desire: flying over the world, visiting friends and observing them, going back in time, communicating with higher frequency beings, and even having astral sex. The possibilities in the astral realm are limitless. Many people believe astral projection as the ultimate evidence of life after death, and a solid proof for the hypothesis that other higher dimensions exist and the fact that our consciousness is separate from our physical bodies and our life here on Earth is simply a small journey from an endless existence. Although many people struggle to achieve a successful astral projection, rest assured that absolutely everyone has this ability in them, and everyone can successfully achieve an astral projection, it's a matter of techniques and repetitions. ☀️ Official Website: http://universeinsideyou.net/ Playlists: Everything from Universe Inside You: http://bit.ly/2nU5Ur7 Ancient History and Aliens: http://bit.ly/2F29i7X Spiritual Knowledge and Understanding: http://bit.ly/2CNb1My Personality Tests: http://bit.ly/2CqbcBx Esoteric and Occult Knowledge: http://bit.ly/2BZo8NI Nikola Tesla - Universal Knowledge: http://bit.ly/2ox56qy Galactic Civilizations - Extraterrestrial Races: http://bit.ly/2t2s8KK The Law of Attraction: http://bit.ly/2EYBMnj Join our Spiritual Kingdom on: 🌺 Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/universalloving 🌺 Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/183801149985... 🌺 Google+: https://plus.google.com/u/0/+Universe... 🌺 Twitter: https://twitter.com/universeinsideu 🌺 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/spiritualki... Qatar Airways Cargo - World class horses flown in style
Qatar Airways Cargo proudly transported 40 of the world’s most admired show jumping and dressage horses from Amsterdam to Las Vegas to participate in the International Federation of Equestrian Sports’ World Cup™ 2015 Finals. The B777F Qatar Airways Cargo aircraft was especially chartered and equipped with air stables to allow the precious cargo, worth an estimated €150million to travel in comfort throughout the 11 hour flight. Each of the horses enjoyed Qatar Airways’ Business Class freighter experience sharing an air stall on board the freighter with only one other horse, and were accompanied by 10 grooms and a veterinarian on their journey from Schiphol Amsterdam to McCarran International Airport, Las Vegas, United States - Follow us on Twitter: http://twitter.com/qatarairways LIKE us on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/qatarairways Follow us on Instagram: http://instagram.com/qatarairways Follow us on Google+: http://plus.google.com/+qatarairways

Why is the top flow faster over an Airfoil ?
There is an intriguing phenomenon when you closely examine the science behind airfoils. Why does the air above the airfoil flow much faster than the air below ? How come the two never meet? This video gives a logical explanation to this problem. Remove cat before flight
Un baptême de routine, jusqu'à ce que...de l'importance de regarder dans les ailes avant chaque vol. Pour info le chat va très bien, il continue avec application son rôle de mascotte du club Au club ULM 16-34 de Kourou, Guyane Française A standard flight until... i still don't know if it got in after the pre flight check or if i missed it. The cat is doing well, she is still our mascot. Edit : Ok some details : - the cat was INSIDE the wing, not on it. she was actually pretty safe in there, the danger was if she wanted to get down to reach us.. - i was the pilote, the woman was on her first flight as a passenger. she smile and giggle a lot, well because that's what flying does to people sometime. -i told her not to reach for the cat. i told her not to move at all actually. i trusted the cat to not move if we didn't try to reach for her. -you can see me smile shortly before landing. I was pretty assured by then that the cat wouldn't move and there was a relieve of tension; and the radio exchange with the control tower was kinda hilarious, i couldn't contain a smile. -cat is a female. -the flight was normally 20minutes long To use this video in a commercial player or in broadcasts, please email [email protected]

How do Airplanes fly ? | Explained In Tamil
Aerodynamics Aerodynamics is the name for the interplay of forces that drive an object through the air. If we look at a cross section of an aircraft wing, we can see that the upper edge is rounder on the lower edge. Let’s have a look at two air particles. One passes over the wing’s upper edge and the other goes past the lower edge. What we then see is that the air traveling around the upper edge has to travel a greater distance to get around the wing. In other words, the speed of the air around the upper edge is greater than that of the air travelling below the wing. Some of you may have learned about Bernoulli’s principle in physics at school. It states that, the faster a gas (in this case, air) travels, the lower the pressure it exerts. That’s exactly what’s happening around an aircraft wing. The pressure against the wing’s upper edge is considerably lower than the pressure against the lower edge. Air Flow So now we can see the reason why an aircraft flies. We are actually hanging on the air because the pressure against the upper edge of the wing is lower than that against the lower edge. However, the wing does have to be passing through the air. In other words, there must be air flow around the wing in order for the pressure differential to arise Then we need engines to create propulsion. They cause the wings to pass through the surrounding air. It creates a balance in which we can see two forces horizontally. First, there is the forward propulsion created by the engines. Opposite that, there is the aircraft’s wind resistance. Vertically, we see the upward lift. And the aircraft weight, pulling it downward. Flying Without Engines Even if the engines stopped working—which happens very rarely—aircraft are still capable of gliding great distances. On every flight, as we make our approach for landing, we reduce the engine’s propulsion. Passengers in the cabin can hear this happening. We don’t turn the engine off completely, but they turn because of the air passing through them. So they are not creating any propulsion. In effect, it’s comparable to an engine that has been turned off. An aircraft’s descent can often take about twenty minutes. During that time—and depending on the aircraft type—we can glide about 120 miles (about 220 kilometres). So, during that time, we’re sitting in a great big glider. Wing Components If you happen to be sitting at a window near the wing, you’ll have some interesting things to see. This is where it’s all happening—on the wing’s leading edge, at the rear, and above the wing, you can see all kinds of moving parts. The wing is designed to provide optimum lift at normal speed, which we call cruising speed. For a jet, that’s about 850 kilometres per hour. Of course we can’t take off or land at that speed. We would need a much longer runway to do that. ►►Watch More... The Simple Discovery That Let Us Fly Faster Than the Speed of Sound
Breaking the sound barrier is considered one of the greatest achievements of aviation, but how exactly did we manage to fly faster than sound? Can You Survive Breaking The Sound Barrier? https://www.seeker.com/can-you-survive-breaking-the-sound-barrier-1792496708.html "When an object moves through the atmosphere, it has to move the air molecules in front of it out of the way. As objects approach the speed of sound, air forms a "pressure wave" around the object. In order to exceed the speed of sound, it has to pierce that pressure wave, which can be heard by observers on the ground as a sonic boom." ____________________ Seeker inspires us to see the world through the lens of science and evokes a sense of curiosity, optimism and adventure. Woman Performs Surgery On Monarch Butterfly With Broken Wing, Next Day It Surprises Her
Woman Performs Surgery On Monarch Butterfly With Broken Wing, Next Day It Surprises Her Like our facebook page: https://goo.gl/aQ1m4g Join our facebook group "Scoop Family": https://goo.gl/WivD1V Depending what time of year they’re born, Monarch butterflies can live from 2 weeks to about 5 months, but this guy’s time was threatened to be cut even shorter. Luckily, Romy McCloskey was there to help. “I fell into raising butterflies by accident when I found 3 caterpillars on a bush in my front yard,” she told Bored Panda. So after one of her darlings got injured, Romy knew she had to help. McCloskey turned her home into an operating room and used common household items to perform a wing transplant. “I have always had a love for butterflies,” she said. “They have a very personal meaning to me. Before my mother died, almost 20 years ago, she said to me, ‘Romy, whenever you see a butterfly, know that I’m there with you, and that I love you.'” Romy McCloskey is a professional costume designer and master hand embroiderer, so this was right up her alley. Her supplies included a towel, a wire hanger, contact cement, a toothpick, a cotton swab, scissors, tweezers, talc powder, and an extra butterfly wing from one of her little girls that died a few days before. According to McCloskey, there’s no need to drug the butterflies when performing such a procedure. She compared their wings to human nails or hair: “They do not have pain receptors.” “[P.S.] I feel it is important to note that the butterfly sustained his injury during pupating into his chrysalis. It was not a genetic defect or deformity due to the Ophryocystis elektroscirrha (OE) parasite that fatally infect Monarchs. I did have a lot of people asking why I would ever introduce inferior or defective genes into the butterfly gene pool. I had to explain to many that I did not. In fact, any caterpillars or butterflies that are infected with OE or Tachinid fly (T-fly) larva must be euthanized to stop any further contamination in the Monarch population.” Don't forget to like and subscribe! A 1200 Year Old Vimana - Alien Flying Machine?
Follow Me on: Instagram................ http://instagram.com/praveenET Twitter...................... https://twitter.com/PraveenMohanET Facebook.................https://www.facebook.com/praveenmohanfans Website.................... http://www.phenomenalplace.com We are in Ellora caves in India and I am going to show you a Vimana, which is an ancient flying device. You are in for a big surprise because it is completely different from what we think it is. By the end of this video, I hope you will come to a logical conclusion if such a flying device could have ever been used in the past. What is special about this 1200 year old carving? It shows a scene from the Hindu epic Ramayana where Ravana, who was the King of Sri Lanka, is shown as flying in the air. According to the scripture, he uses a flying object called "Pushpaka Vimana". During this flight, he was attacked by a bird called Jatayu, which is also shown in the carving. There is no guess work involved here, because it is all documented in the Hindu epic Ramayana. Now, let us take a closer look at how this flying device looks. Instead of an aircraft like machine, it is shown as a much smaller device which is attached to Ravana's back. Surprisingly, this device looks very similar to a modern day jet pack. How detailed is this carving? First, notice how firmly Ravana is fastened to the Vimana using plenty of straps. In his safety harness, there are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 straps. Remarkably, you can even see the main strap going from his waist and being securely hooked on to the Vimana. This is the exact same technique that we use today in a jetpack. If you are flying, you wouldn't want to lose the jetpack in mid-air, would you? You know what would happen if you did. It's just incredible that the so called primitive people carved these 6 straps, over 1200 years ago. Now, there is also a circular object carved on this Vimana, that's very similar to a modern day propeller. You can even see the spinning blades of the propeller. Remember that this is a side view of a scene, which shows only one side of everything. This means that there could have been another propeller on the other side for balance. Again, notice the similarity with the modern day jetpack that uses two rotors on either side. Was this 1200 year old carving created based on an actual working Vimana? Why else would it be so similar to a working jetpack today? Look at this part at the top of a modern day jetpack. It is called a safety roll bar, which is a gear stick like device used for safe landing. Now, look at the top of the Vimana, a very similar device that looks like a gear stick too. Is this all just a coincidence? Were these carvings done based on pure imagination, or did people carve what they really saw? Speaking of creating what you see, let's take a look at how the Pushpaka Vimana is shown in modern day Indian movies and TV shows. You can see how our generation which is more used to commercial and private planes show it as a small aircraft with wings. This is because the directors create these scenes with machines that they are familiar with. Could this be true with this ancient carving as well? Did ancient people see human like figures flying with devices attached to their backs? Did they simply carve what they saw? I say human like figures because Ravana is defined as a "humanoid" with supernatural capabilities. Were these flying humanoids with complex machines, in fact extraterrestrials? This 1200 year old Vimana has almost all the features including a fuel tank, but something very important is missing. For jetpacks or rocket belts to take off from the ground, you need at least two pipes facing downwards that will blow out heat to create a steam powered thrust. This is a crucial piece for a jetpack, so just hold on to that thought that this Vimana does not have that tube or pipe-like extension. Now, you can see a carving of a horse as a part of the Vimana. There is no way it can be a real horse because it cannot be that much smaller than Ravana and Jatayu, and there is no reason why it would be attached to Ravana's back. Moreover, notice that this horse is carved facing the opposite direction of Ravana's flight. What's the secret behind this mysterious horse that makes no sense at all? I am going to read a few lines from a Hindu scripture about this horse or mare that's called Vadavamukha. "This was a lifeless mare with a needle like mouth. It hissed like a snake, breathed fire and spit out hot smoke which blistered human skin". End of passage from the scripture. This must be the answer to the missing piece. This horse after all, is the mechanical device that pumped out the heat and steam needed for the jet pack to take off. Notice its mouth facing downwards and when it breathes fire or steam, the Vimana would be pushed up in the air. #AncientAliens #India #Vimana

2018 Ferrari FXX K Evo sprouts wings and looks ready to fly
2018 Ferrari FXX K Evo sprouts wings and looks ready to fly The winged devil you see above is the Ferrari FXX-K Evo. All those protuberances are there for a reason – from the reshaped front fascia with its carbon fiber splitters to the twin-profile rear wing and fixed fins – and that's to produce downforce. Some of the most important aero bits are hidden where you can't see. Vortex generators affixed to the belly of the beast and a massive rear diffuser help suck the FXX-K Evo to the track. A path of air travels from the hood, over the canopy, and ultimately to the rear wing, all in an effort to optimize flow and increase high-speed stability. At 124 miles per hour, says Ferrari, the bits and baubles push toward the earth with 1,411 pounds of downforce. In addition to the aero tweaks, Ferrari made adjustments to the FXX-K's suspension, fitted it with a redesigned steering wheel, and installed a larger interior display. Owners of previous FXX-K models can opt to have these upgrades added to their cars, and a limited number of new Evos will be produced. These 1,050-horsepower hybrid gasoline-electric machines aren't meant for the street. Instead, Ferrari arranges a nine-race schedule for owners who wish to stretch the FXX-K's legs out on the track. And if you're lucky enough to own one, we certainly hope you find enough time to take part in the high-speed festivities. Airflow across a wing
"It is often said that the lift on a wing is generated because the flow moving over the top surface has a longer distance to travel and therefore needs to go faster. This common explanation is actually wrong." Here, aerodynamics expert Professor Holger Babinsky from the University of Cambridge's Department of Engineering debunks a popular, yet misleading, explanation of how wings lift. For more information, read the accompanying story published by the University of Cambridge http://www.cam.ac.uk/research/news/how-wings-really-work/

Impressive A380 Demo at Farnborough Airshow.
It's always impressive to see this huge lump of metal take to the skies in this fashion. The A380 will leave the runway because the speed at which it travels, allows the wings to create lift, great enough to raise the heavy machine into the air, combined with the powerful Rolls Royce engines.

Scooter the Loquatian Recording in Berlin Page 1
Listen to Scooter sing Page One of "Wings to Fly" promoting kids to step onto the stage and share their own story. Follow Scooter as he travels Europe and experiences all sorts of fun and exciting adventures on his FACEBOOK page at https://www.facebook.com/Scootertheloquatian/?fref=ts Written by Jennifer Utsch and being illustrated by Tara Seren, Scooter the Loquatian is a fictional character that hopes to give a hand to get others onto their own stage. We are in production of the first book of many and have a gofundme page at https://www.gofundme.com/WingsToFly All donations and fundraising will go towards the publication of "Wings to Fly," (just the beginning of many children's books) and to cover the costs of bringing the message of Scooter to Elementary, Alternative, Charter Schools, and book stores and libraries. We are excited to create awareness through public demonstration, music and interactive activities . We are initiating a platform for growth in California and Colorado with national and eventually global outreach to expand organically. Scooter's intention is to encourage confidence and belief in one's diversity and talent giving tools to start mastering one's life through embracing the ability to fly from our own wings . This is a non gender specific , and culturally concious book supporting individualization and encouraging unity through neutral witnessing, communal support and allowing . Scooter creates a platform of playful learning and social deconditioning. This is the first book of many more to come in the series of Scooter the Loquatian. With this foundation we will create activities that encourages and supports personal growth. As Scooter processes the trauma and emotions of not being able to fly, fears are presented and negative thought patterns. Scooter represents how we can turn these opportunities into strengths and wisdom.
